Really useful video thank you
Glad you liked it 😊
Absolutely, I’m just back home from your neck of the woods, did the Baggy Point walk on a sunny day, always love that walk. All the best my friend.
Cheers Jim and yeah Baggy Point is great, Putsborough beach is one of my favourite beaches round that area. Maybe see you on the trail sometime
@@addict2athlete 👍
Hi Connor, great to hear the new job is going well. Lovely footage. Thanks for sharing
Cheers David! 😃
Great video! Really important message behind the video, glad you’re doing so well now and congratulations on the new job!
Yeah getting outdoors can be a big change for people and hiking is perfect for that. Cheers about the job, take care! 😌
Really great video Connor. So calming to watch and great for others to see how much you’re improving and still determined and motivated to carry on.
Thanks mum 🙏
Great to see you today and share lunch. Good luck with all your efforts.
You too David good to see you and will do again soon! Thanks for the support 😃
I did my first parkrun yesterday! 80 minutes, but I did it! This parkrun looks scary to me lol
Nice one James well done for completing your first one! Hopefully the first of many more? 🏃♂️ Yeah the beach run and dune climb is a leg killer!
Another great video mate! Keep up the great work that you’re doing 💪🏼
Thanks Dave will do 💪
Great video! Have you ever done the letterboxing on Dartmoor?
Cheers Dave! Yeah not intentionally though, the first one I ever found must have fallen out of its hiding place in a storm. I think it was Oke Tor, there’s a video of it on my channel on the Ten Tors In a Day Video. Lots of Army guys and people training for Ten Tors had stamped it! Would love to go again and look for some! Might be an idea for another adventure! 🚶🏔️
@@addict2athlete I found my first one by accident too! I’ll give that video a watch next, the north part of Dartmoor is stunning!
Awesome, seems fate has found us a new hobby, or we found it! Cool enjoy it and yeah it’s great up that end, plenty to explore!
Excellent idea, ensure the criminals can outrun the police
Ensures they can look forward to something and improve wellbeing rather than reoffending maybe? 🤔 Helps all parties so why not
Tamar lakes is a great Parkrun. Love the advice about not falling in the water!
Yeah really enjoyed! 🏃♂️ I wasn’t in Barnstaple for their 500th run but hope it went well!
Panting well Connor! I'm off to the Cranbrook Park run Saturday . Could be your next blog.? Gary and Riley 🎉
Cheers Gary, if the subtitles were on it would probably say (heavy breathing) 😂 oh cool I’ve not heard of that one before but just looked it up and it’s close so I might come down and do that one! Maybe see you there! 🏃♂️
You can get to it for 08:37 if you catch 06:31 from Barnstaple. Run starts about 1 min from station which is perfect. Gazz.😅
@@garymitchell277 Sounds good cheers Gary! Yeah that’s perfect, too many times I’ve had to run from the train station to get to a parkrun on time 😝
Never seen it that quick! I take about 35 minutes 😊
Yeah it’s a great course, was a nice and compact surface. Oh cool that’s good, my mum did her first run here today too and got 36 mins! Maybe see you at another parkrun in the future! 😌 🏃♀️
@@addict2athlete they have shared it on Tamar lakes parkrun page, should get you some extra views
@@anitarayer7948 Oh that’s brilliant thank you! 🙏 😃
Gonna add Watergrove to this on the Lancs/ Yorks border .
Just checked out the course for Watergrove. Looks like a fantastic course for difficulty and scenery!
Are there any parkruns actually in parks anymore?!
Haha beachruns doesn’t sound quite right does it!
Great idea!
They are brilliant, might not be the best selection of books but I suppose they are like a treasure chest and you never know what you will find in there…hopefully not cookbooks! I’m not running with them! 😂
@@addict2athlete oh I meant the video idea! I actually donate to my local phonebooth library whenever I finish a book! We also have a lot of defibrillators in them around here
Oh thank you 😊 yeah that’s a really good idea, would be great if everyone did that. Awesome they have so many uses, we have a few of the defibrillator booths here now too, they should be better funded as I still see old booths completely unused.
You are an absolute legend. My story's not dissimilar to yours, perhaps i didnt dive as deep as you but I've not given back in the way you have. Keep on keeping on 👊
Thank you and so are you for being on a similar journey and getting through it however tough it was! You too mate, stay strong 👊
Former heroin addict here, stopped in 2020 and got into running. Running is the perfect replacement as the endorphins activate opioid receptors naturally. Also, great community, amazing to have friends who are all into positive habits.
That’s an amazing achievement well done on overcoming such a difficult addiction. Yeah you’re right nothing can beat the feeling of the ‘runners high’. That’s brilliant yeah all the runners I’ve met have been so welcoming and friendly. Feel free to join our strava club, there are people on there who upload their runs, most are fully clean now and it’s a great community to support each other. We are called Addicts to Athletes. Again well done on your journey it’s great to hear your story! 💪 🏃
Done my first ever parkrun today, feeling great. Very entertaining video!
Awesome well done for your first one! Hopefully many more to come 😊 How did you find it?
@@addict2athlete Great, running in a group is way different than running alone. Although I am still not feeling the best after a cold I had recently, I managed to do the run in 28 mins.
Yeah it is, I find it helps to push you though. That’s a great time considering the cold as well. Hope you feel better soon and keep up the great work! 💪 🏃
at least its only one lap
Makes total sense, thanks for making this video. It's. Excellent
Another cheeky video Connor. Keep it up mate. GARY 🎉
Cheers Gary will do! 💪 🏃♂️
After 35 years of smoking cigarettes and occasionally other things I identify with this. But you are already faster than I will ever get.
Tobacco is one of the hardest ones to overcome. It’s not about speed mate, overcoming addiction is the biggest victory. Never compare yourself to anyone else. I’m still in my 20’s and back then I didn’t know much about running, I used to do all my runs at max effort causing injuries. Getting out and being active is the main thing and you should be proud of that more than anything else
@@addict2athlete I am lucky that I have not picked up any injuries other than, one time, a little bursitis in the left knee. This week I am doing Herdy's frontyard ultra and just hoping to get a distance PB. Slow and steady is the way for me.
Good luck in your event! Never heard of that challenge before but it sounds like a great idea but very hard work. Not sure I’d last even half a day. Hope you get your new distance PB! 🏃♂️
What a great video. I'm nuts about parkrun and it's so good to keep finding people who are into it too.
Yeah parkruns are great and always a friendly atmosphere 🏃
Another great video Connor. You’re doing amazing and well done to everyone who added to total distance.
Thanks Mum you too. Well done for running the whole course! 🏃♀️
Gret video mate !!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers mate appreciate it! 💪
Increadible beautiful.
What a great thing
Yeah it’s such a good thing for them to be able to do. Hope you’ve been well James. I just watched your recent deadlift video. Well done mate keep it up! 💪
@@addict2athlete I love doing park run
@@jameshickey100 Awesome yeah they are great to do and always good to meet new people there 🏃♂️
This is fantastic. I never knew it happened but its such a smart move.
This has to be on the to do list - looks great - thanks for filming it 👍🏻🏃♂️💨💨
Yeah it’s an awesome run! Have fun whenever you get to visit! 🏃♂️
Awesome video! I live in Okehampton so I spend a lot of time in this area of the moor! You certainly picked a good day for it!
Oh cool that must be nice to live so close to the moors! Some really great tors up that end. Yeah was a great day, planning another hike soon. Really want to do a winter camp there, I’d love to see some snow but just need more gear for winter hiking/camping ❄️
@@addict2athlete I got super lucky at the beginning of December and had a day off when we had that snow, so I did a little 10 tors in 10 miles hike around the Haytor/Saddle Tor/Hound Tor area! I’d definitely recommend, everything looks so different in the snow!
That sounds amazing and yeah it must be a lovely sight when there’s snow on the moors! I just bought a new hiking rucksack so hopefully won’t be to long til I’m back on Dartmoor 😃
Nice and different that one!👊
Yeah that was a fun one, plenty more mini-libraries around like that too so might do something similar in the future.
Good video and attractive screensavers. 🙂🏃👍🏻 I also shoot a little. 🕺😊
Thank you and awesome, I’ll check out your channel! 🏃♂️ 😃
Cheers Connor for another excellently crafted blog. Thanks for our 2mins on film. It's strange watching and listening to oneself(I sound a right old yokel!) on screen. Cheers mate. Gary and Steve.😅🎉🦎
No problem Gary good to see you! And yeah it is 😂 it took me a while to get used to my own voice too but making videos soon got used to it 😂 Nice to meet Steve too, probably see you at our home parkrun soon! 🦮🏃
Fantastic video and I never realised this was even a thing. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it and yeah there’s quite a few about now, and hopefully more in the future.
It has made my dream of completing every parkrun harder, but not impossible
😂 Wait til you here about the parkruns at Camp Bastion and other military bases. Camp Bastion one has stopped running now but there’s one at a base in Cyprus and also Falklands near Argentina. Good luck soldier!
I’ve just told a mate (who is obsessed with doing as many different parkruns as possible) that there may be some which he may never be able to do, and it is winding him up 😅
Haha brilliant
what a great idea
Skills, hats off to you. What a positive story. Keep up the great work. Gave up booze 10 month's ago. Wanted to be the best for my son really over the next twenty years. Never a big drinker but definitely a binge drinker, in my early 40s . It just hurts to much to drink. Your so right about the emotions being bottled up. That bit nearly got me in tears. Park runs and moving on to 10km and halfs have helped me. Just gota stop injuring my knees.
Wow well done on your progress mate glad to hear you are doing better for both you and your son. I was the same as you, never really dependant on alcohol but when I’d drink it would turn into days/weeks on end and not really remembering much from it. That’s awesome you are running them now keep up the great work! Feel free to join our Strava Club if you like 💪
Super good effort, you're a brilliant example. I hope you are able to help many people.
I hope so too! Addiction should be less stigmatised and hopefully these videos can inspire others to follow the same path.
That looks nice!
It’s lovely there, I imagine in the summer it would get a lot of participants, but it’s a stunning course and I highly recommend it! Winter makes it a bit easier as the sand is more compact
Nice one Conner mate 💪👍
Cheers Jim hope you’ve been well! 💪
In answer to your query, nope, not statistically. That would be Great Yarmouth North Beach for the UK, Not that Parkrun want us to have easy access to statistics going forward, going by recent news. Still very much worth a go though, as with any parkrun, and has been challenging people for far longer than the new pretender.
Seems the beaches are the toughest courses and it’s not so much about elevation. I’ve heard of a few difficult courses with lots of elevation but the ones with sand seem to make it tough all round. Yeah this is a really great course and I highly recommend it if people are in the area.
well done!
Thanks Shaun, things are going well 💪
Well done to you sir, for getting through a clearly rough period in your life, and doing something healthy and positive 😊
Thanks so much I really appreciate that 😊 🙏 running and triathlon has really saved my life! 🏃♂️
Well done 👏🏼
Thank you!🙏 💪
parkrun - “always one word, always lower case” (it’s a brand!)
Sorry Nemesis, I’ve changed fonts since that video as it makes the writing all uppercase. Plus lowercase titles on CZcams really affect my OCD. But I do try to use all lowercase when I can
Literally love this, what a superb channel. Thank you 😊
Awesome thanks for your comment and I’m so glad you liked it! Got some more parkrun diaries planned soon so stay tuned! 🐳
Nice videos, have you attempted the Devon coast to coast bike ride? Ilfracombe to Plymouth.
Thank you and yeah there’s a video on my channel of it. It has Bikepacking Dartmoor as the title as I took a diversion to wild camp for the night before continuing on to Plymouth!
This is definitely one for my list. Lovely course and a real challenge. Great job!👍
Thanks Tony, and have fun whenever you get to do it!
Nice atmosphere on the park run. Best wishes.
No noooo no heaton park is so much harder! I did it yesterday and those hills are killa I can't even walk today!
Haha I hope your legs have recovered a bit! Is that the one that’s starts off with a 1km hill? I’ll have to look into doing Heaton Park in the future 😃
