Such a shame the generators were removed, nothing cooler than old industrial equipment like them even if they are no way near the efficiency of modern replacements. Thanks for all these videos, I only found you recently and have been enjoying the binge!

Thanks for the awesome video! It really brings back memories. I used to explore the Titan 1 complexes out on the old Lowry bombing range east of Aurora, Colorado, in the late 1980s. Titan 1 complexes were, by far, the largest underground nuclear missile complexes ever built; much larger than Titan 2 or anything after it. it seems a waste that most were only an operation for about 3 years. Do you plan on renovating the entire complex?

Did you have to run your own electric lines, or was the bunker just magically still attached to the power grid as some bunkers seem to be?

Nice one. I looked into buying one of these in the 80s. They were cheap back then but the cost to restore one to livable condition is astronomical. At the end of the day though you have to remember one thing: living in a hole in the ground has it's dangers. If someone wants to get you bad enough all they have to do is block up the air shafts and wait. eventually you suffocate or fumes from the generator get you... If you own one of these, best to never show where it is.

Only get to shoot what you have loaded. Once fired the people on top have to bring another to the launch site and load it.. all the while the launch site itself is a target. People on top wont stick around dont be fooled

I have a feeling that this one is more scrapped out by meth heads than the original contractors. I noticed some of the I beams that you were walking on were missing. I don't think that contractors would be interested in taking that since it is not worth that much.....

Hi! I have been binge watching your videos from the beginning! And loving your vids! But I am wondering if the previous owner had plans for this facility and then later changed his mind? I only ask because toward the end of your video, when you were heading back to the lobby, I noticed that some of the electrical is much newer with the nice shiny conduits, Square D breaker panels and then later stripped of it's copper. Also, in the rooms that you entered, those fluorescent fixtures that were on the walls is much newer than the facilities. Those are the T8 type fixtures, most likely made around 2000 or newer. Wonder if he has been scrapping the place out since the tubes were removed from the energy converter in the communications center....

How bad is the groundwater contamination around these silos?

Nice to see the silo again. I was an RPIE/FACE Electrician at the 308th. I knew you were on Level 3 where the Diesel Generated was when you came across the 3000 lbs hoist beam. I used that a couple hoist a couple times changing out the switch gear in front of the generator. It switched between commercial and generator power. Anyway, that switch gear was pretty darn heavy to replace. It was about 3ft x 3ft x2.5ft square. I recognized several other areas you walked by too. So strange seeing it again. It feels like deja vu from a dream in another lifetime. I was in my early 20's back then.

good luck to who ever bought bruce's silo in NY. the hydraulic rams, which are the biggest part of the silo's shock absorbing system have been removed, meaning if an earth quake or nuke blast ever actually hits the area, the whole thing will collapse. doesn't matter how much money you put into it or how pretty the finished areas are, the structure is literally worthless at best and a death trap at worst. the hydraulic rams bruce removed as part of his renovation were designed to guide the inner silo tube straight up and down inside the outer tube in the case of a blast or earth quake, preventing the two concrete tubes from colliding as the inner tube bounces on the suspension system. without those rams, the inner tube is free to collide with the outer tube if any movement occurs, which would result in both tubes crumbling, burying anyone inside under about 100 tons of concrete rubble that could take weeks or months to excavate during any possible rescue efforts. and before any one asks, yes i know the rams were removed, as bruce confirmed as much through emails a couple years ago when i contacted him for info on the silo and specifically asked about the suspension system.

One of the ways they explored the inside of the Titanic was to use drone submarines that were tethered to the one with the people in it via fiber optic.cable. There was youtube guy that explored his Atlas F silo with an underwater drone (czcams.com/video/uKzT7PiiLPM/video.html). It would be cool to see the bottom of your silos this way.

I remember when this place was on Zillow for $200k. They got a killer deal. The #2 site on the map which is just east of Benson off of I-10 sold for $440k just a few years later.
