Adventure Ride in Colorado Springs! | Buckhorn, Captain Jacks, Captain Morgan, Chutes
Had one shot at a Mountain Bike ride in Colorad Springs and my buddy Chris took me to Stratton Open Space to ride Chutes, Captain Jack, Captain Morgan and Buckhorn. It was April, so we knew their MIGHT be snow somewhere up there. An Adventure Ride ensured. #colorado #coloradomtb #coloradosprings #mtb #chutes #captainjack #findthatflow

My favorite place to ride!
So flowy 😀
This preddy?
Yep!
@@FoCoFlowShow I was there on Mother’s Day and the trails were a mud fest
@@Contentforallig yea - you gotta check trail status before you ride there after a rain. It usually takes longer to dry out than other local trails
Where's this?!
Preddy creek
MUST I SAY GOOD CLEAN FUN! I WENT SOME WHERES UP THAT WAY TO A PLACE CALLED SLIPPERY ROCK AS A KID 7 OR 8 ITS WAS SO COLD WHEN I HIT THE WATER IT TOOK MY BREATH AWAY! I LOVED IT. ❤😊
That’s awesome
Was considering if I should do the lower portion. After seeing the river crossing in your video, I think I will pass lol. Good vid, helpful
Yea - I’d skip it and cut across to wash creek before lower trace and lap it again to hit Spencer/fletcher
Just got back from CO last week. It's stunning out there. I was with my wife and we rode Buffalo Creek's Little Scraggy Loop together. It's so different compared to what we have back east. Beautiful views. A few years ago I rode Maryland Mountain. It was a bit above my pay grade, but you would be fine. Check out Hard Money. So many alt features on that trail and there's an even harder trail there.
edge of me seat watchin this…really good show bro…
When did you buy him this?!?! 😅
🤓
... I think you need a different nd filter and exposure setting
Go on ?
@@FoCoFlowShow that all I was going to say your footage was fuzzy in the sunlight
@@NightworksYT Roger that … direct light is tricky
@@FoCoFlowShow your not wrong
@@FoCoFlowShow try a darker filter and set your iso to auto like nd8 filter wise
Such a rad bike for your son! Was that weight with tubes? Those XR4 tires are extremely light. Considered them for my latest tire setup but I couldn’t resist the big yellow logo brand.
Bike was already tubeless but I really like the xr4s so far
thanks to you I have installed mine easily !
Def some great trails here. At 5:55 there is an alternate line on blunderbuss that gives a straight shot at that hip. I think since you rode they opened up chimney up to yhe fire road. Rather than coming down gateway you can hit the upper part of chimney which is pretty flowy!
I def want to get back there to ride the new stuff they just opened
Bars are inexpensive, they seem a bit wide for your son.. Could change out/cut, and increase later as he grows.....but it's all feel/preference.....just looks too wide.....cool bike though!!
I had that thought - would Be easy to cut down
That is a nice bike, but it is HEAVY (15.4 kg) for 120mm trail/downcountry bike. I have Fuel ex 8 gen 5, with Fox float X, Fox 36 150mm and 2.6 tires with tubes, that bike is around 16kg, so bigger bike with half kilo difference. IMO bike like Top Fuel with that amount of travel and that heavy doesnt make sense. It should be lighter...
Yea I see what you mean - the top fuel and fuel ex aren’t actually all that much different in frame material - just suspension design and compliments but I do wish the top fuel was a bit lighter but it doesn’t feel heavy when riding
Your studio audio is coming across mono (I'm hearing just the right channel) while the rest of the audio comes across stereo. Makes your videos difficult to listen to. Consider fixing your studio audio to record in stereo.
I had some issue with my mic on this one - sorry - I don’t think my other videos do that, do they?
@@FoCoFlowShow just this video
Man these trails are in my dreams!
Nope … they’re in Charlottesville!
@@FoCoFlowShow geographically yes 😂
Love the helmet Insta360 cam. Quite the nice, unique placement to give an awareness of the trail and rider.
Thank you - it really provided a unique -different perspective
Do they wait until each rider is finished before releasing the next one?
No, they usually send a cart every few minutes
Where is that?
Pocahontas State Park near Richmond VA
I see you ride a Ripmo. Just like BKXC. You guys are two of my favorite riders. Excellent technical and downhill skills. I live about 1.5 hrs. away from Charlottesville. I'm hoping the Blue Trails in that area will be my next adventure. Thanks for showing me around.
Thanks!!! You’ll have a blast in Cville
@@FoCoFlowShow I will have to up my skills for that one. All the downhills are Black😀
@@Ghost-pt5eu yea - the GWNF stuff is tough but there are plenty of “blue trails” in Cville
Why doesent ibis show the weight per model of the ripmos? How much does your ripmo way
Around 33 lbs with cushcore and pedals
Is the process the same for the mt5e but just with the addition of the brake sensor?
I think so but I would double check with magura
Red Diamond is my fav trail in GWNF by far. Good vid
It’s warp speed
What's your saddle height from crank center to top of saddle? I'm 6'2" with 35.5" inseam so probably OK but curious how close I am to the seat tube collar.
Being relatively new to mountain biking, thank you for these videos! We are around the cville area, besides river view and Darden towe, do you know if any decent paved bike paths or even very easy trails like what Darden towe turns into. I have a 1.5 year old I pull around in a bike trailer with an almost 4 year old on a mtb. So the easier for them the better haha! My wife and I have searched but haven’t really been able to find a whole lot of info for these types of bike paths. Thank you sir!
There’s some extension of biking and paved paths behind the ymca - relatively short paved area and thr beginner friendly Triangle trails for MTB. Also over by pen park are some paved and gravel paths that would be fine for a MTB with bike trailer …. But here’s the pro tip… invest in a shotgun seat, put your youngest on the seat and go ride MTB at Preddy, triangle trails or other mellow trails … you could take the whole fam
@@FoCoFlowShowawesome… thank you very much! I’m sure you’ll pass me like I’m standing still somewhere around here this summer haha!

york riva rocks…especially the bobcat trails….
It’s an XC paradise … miles on top of miles of Singletrack
Just rode this yesterday! The climb up copperhead and top shelf was brutal though. I Would def recommend climbing moonshine to get to top shelf and run left to right. (Down)
Yea - I would never climb copperhead to go up Topshelf … recommended route is up moonshine
Your bunny hop off was impressive!
Almost looks like I know what I’m doing 🤓
Awesome!
Thanks! Looks like fun!
Thanks for the review. Any updates on this? Did it last a year?
Yep - all good. I don’t ride that bike a ton but I rode it last week and it’s fine - not the smoothest dropper ever but definitely sufficient
@@FoCoFlowShow noted, thanks!
You can go up on a motorcycle

good time with lil floco 👍🏼
Love riding with him 💪
I was in Arcadia all last week after seeing your trail peek of Pine Ridge and Little Cove. We did apple orchard>Cornelius creek, the Spec/Dody loop, Pine Ridge and Little Cove. Climbed the Devil’s Marbleyard on an “off day”(highly suggested). I’m going back for Terrapin Mtn and the trails around Little Harkening later this year. That area was absolutely beautiful so thanks for the recommendation. The second part of the trip was supposed to be Blacksburg area to check out Poverty Creek and McDonald Hollow but instead pointed North to Davis,Wv on the way back to Pgh to shorten the drive home a bit. I’ll be taking the kiddos to the Blacksburg area in the summer for sure. Thanks again for all the info.
Nice man … Davis is still on my “to do” list … there’s more to explore in Blacksburg too - so many good trails and so little time
@@FoCoFlowShowgive me shout if you point north to Davis. Great town. I know a ton of trails and a bunch of locals in the area to ride with.
@@trevorthomas5552 will do!
Nice review although the fact you were following someone with thoer lights on stopped me from being able to properly see how the light performed most of the time. But there were some short sections where it was just you so i got to see it. Maybe try to do more of you on your own so we can get a better feel of light alone. Thanks good review showed most of what i needed, about to purchase one for £45 so definitely worth it.
Awesome - thanks for feedback
@@FoCoFlowShow no worries dude. I enjoyed your whooping while you where riding the trail, sounded like.yoj were having the time of your life hahaha awesome. What bike yoy riding atm?

Awesome vid! I'm staying near Richmond for a few weeks, but the area seems to lack the stuff I'm used to riding. I may try and get to the Charlottesville area this coming weekend. Any suggestions for some good XC miles to log? Climbs, descents, tech & rocks welcome! Thanks in advance! New subscriber here!
Hey there, Richmond native here. Yeah, we don’t have the big climbs and high altitudes of the Blue Ridge, but there’s still some decently fun stuff around here to ride! Try the James River Park System loop a.k.a. buttermilk and North Bank trails downtown. There’s actually some pretty techy stuff in that loop and lots of pros have ridden there. The adjacent Trails at Forest Hill Park are also pretty challenging and there’s some excellent single track. Lots of good flow. If you’re into XC, also look into the Morgan trails at Pocahontas State Park. If you want features like drops, jump lines, wall rides, Skinnys, etc., definitely try freedom Park in Williamsburg. There’s actually surprising number of options around here. Enjoy RVA! ✌️
I love JRPS - I've ridden there a few times. I did a video a few years ago... give it a look
@@FoCoFlowShow Hey there! Did some on Pocahontas SP this past Saturday and the BSA Trails near Goochland on Sunday!. Nice stuff! Met a a couple guys at PSP on Saturday. One of them is going to show me around the Downtown Richmond Trails this afternoon! Thanks for the reply!
@@TheJaxsonjack awesome - you’re gonna love it - a little bit of tech and flow 🤘
Hey man! I'm staying about an hour or so east of Charlottesville (near Richmond) for a few weeks and was looking to log some miles on some XC trails in the Charlottesville area. Climbs, descents, techy / rocky stuff is sought after and welcome! Any suggestions? I've been checking out your Utah content this morning! Awesome videos! New Subscriber!
We have a bit of everything on Cville - blue ridge school has XC stuff all the way up to DH black diamond trails - it’s my favorite place to ride. Heyward forest is experiencing a trail building boom as we speak - check out my Skidmark video from a few weeks ago … not exactly XC it’s a ton of fun. Thanks for subscribing!
Nice!
Thanks!
Excellent vid again FoCo! Love the descents here - savage uphills 😅but well worth the effort. Beautiful little park too as shown here with good car parking/facilities.
Thanks! Somehow it’s still kind of a hidden gem but one if my favorite places to ride when I’m up for a challenge
Man you just went for that road gap! Good thing you and the Rimpo are tough. I think my spine would have exploded!
Yea... I thought I had it... definitely needed more speed.
I need to check this out 👀
Definitely!!!
These trails looks sick Forrest!!! Nice mix of tech and flow. Bummer about the dropper issue, but I love the old school technique ;)
Hahah... gotta do what you gotta do. Thanks Sage. I think you'd enjoy the overall Blacksburg MTB area if you're ever our this way. Lots and lots of variety.
Can't wait. Maybe May 2024. Thanks for the Video & Information!
Thanks for watching!
Where is this?
Pine mountain - Arcadia area near Roanoke
Awesome man!! What parking lot did you start at? I was there a few weeks ago for the first time and parked at the McDonald Hollow lot. Not sure if that was the best out of the other starting points.
We parked there too - that seems to be the best option on the VT side or st the bottom of wavelength. On the poverty creek side, there’s a huge lot at the pandapas pond rec area
There’s another parking lot at the base of Gateway in Heritage park. that’s a good place to park to access both sides of the mountain relatively easily
@@FoCoFlowShow thanks Forest!
@@o1ox_21 thanks! I did see that lot after coming down wavelength and pedaled down the road to my car. Cool trail system. I’m looking forward to getting back there to explore some more.
Excellent video again. We enjoyed Prickly Pear trail a bit further to the north - some really cool rock gardens. Gateway Trail all the way out to the car park was a superb way to finish - so much fun and a really long descent (just getting used to how long some of the descents are in VA - definitely makes the climbs worthwhile!)
I almost did PP and I definitely want to run gateway. They also just built a brand new DH that ends near the bottom of gateway that I want to hit
