I use tank transfer method. Defiantly should do some type of QT there is a lot more out there then just ich.

Methylene blue and sea chem prime really helps a lot if you buy fish from online.

I love your aquscape, how many kilograms of stones did you use?

If you start with live rock, transported in water, and get some sand from an established tank you can just add fish day 1... no cycle as the tank is precycled.

I love the cyphastrea growing off the frag rack onto the right side of the glass. One of my top fav. corals! Mine has finally taken off with a growth spurt and can’t wait to see it spread.

About 4 years ago I got my son a goldfish tank for Christmas. I knew nothing about really keeping a tank, keep in mind. I hopped on youtube to figure it out. About an hour later down the rabbit hole I stumbled across this video. From that moment I breathed, slept and dreamed reef tanks. I had to get one. After about 3 months, 10k youtube videos and 10k dollars I got my first saltwater tank. I'm still terrible at it but man am I having fun. I still come back to this video in hopes I can have a tank some what remotely beautiful as this. This tank is a masterpiece. P.S the goldfish tank went to the dump lol!

I think the reason you haven't been seeing nitrite is because you've been under dosing the ammonia. According to doctor Tim you want between 2ppm and 3ppm ammonia, you don't want it to be above 5ppm. Above 5ppm the ammonia becomes toxic for the nitrite-nitrate conversion bacteria. Also, temperature should be between 80 and 85.

Is this just a temporary measure or will it work long-term? Also, will it work inside the tank? I have a 210 that as a very minor leak at the rear bottom and I was wondering if this is a viable option to totally resealing the tank? OK I put this comment in before I finish watching the video so I’m assuming what you’re saying this is just a temporary fix so it’s not something that I can use long-term for the 210 that I have that is leaking?

Thanks for your video I am just seeing it now 5 years later . I have a powder blue who had ICH I just left him alone it corrected itself.my blue face koi had it too , I left them both alone they recovered without any medication.

I’m doing the exact thing. I’ve watched in detail the other video you referenced. It says in the directions “are your values above 5ppm if not add more ammonia” You needed more ammonia for the first part prior 7th day. I’m on 7th day nitrite 3. is up ammonia is 4ppm nitrates roughly 20 meaning it’s cycling. I’m gonna add more bacteria to battle ammonia faster to transfer to nitrates.

I’m not sure you did it right. Something isn’t adding up. The directions want ammonia above 5ppm. Are you sure you put enough bacteria. Read the paper again.

I have a lot of gsp and love it, now it doesn’t matter if you have it on a single rock, the gsp will grow under the sand I took a 2” x 2” piece from under the sand that was buried and I was thinking that was only little strip but no, it was big and I glue it to another rock and is spreading. Gsp will grow under sand buried trying to reach another rock or surface

Watching this as a how "not to reef" lesson... Got all the lights, way too much flow but cant fit a small 10 gallon QT tank in his apartment? You can buy a cheap complete system here in the UK for like £70, throw in a small pump for flow and your set for a QT / hospital tank, it all in cost me less than just one of my clown fish. You don't need a bunch of chemicals, or supplements just some basic husbandry, it takes up a few feet of work surface in my kitchen (it has a bread bin footprint ffs) and could prevent a tank collapse. The utter lack of remorse it what gets me, i' have just started the hobby, got two clowns in QT whilst my tank cycles and i am already concerned for there health and well being. Both of these fish have already been in QT at the LFS, but the idea that i just take there word for it and add them to my tank strikes me as insane. Im starting out as a mean to continue by taking there welfare seriously..

How do you do waterchanges with corals so high up? This tank is what got me into reefing 5 years ago! It gorgeous and so packed full! I dont see how you do it! How do you vacum in all the nooks and crannies. I must put to much emphases into vacuuming! I move rocks and go crazy! lol I would love to see you rockwork before you decorated! Is there a youtube of that?
