Examination of Conscience:
The First Step Towards Successful Confession.
Before approaching the tribunal of Penance, the penitent must make an examination of conscience, with a carefully effort to remember all the sins committed since his last confession. It is particularly necessary to confess the mortal sins committed after Baptism that have not yet been directly forgiven by the power of the keys.
In order to make a good examination of conscience, the penitent will invoke God’s help:
"O Holy Ghost, eternal source of light, dispel the shadows that hide from me the ugliness and malice of sin. Give me so great a horror for sin, O my God, that I may hate it, if possible, as much as Thou dost hate it, and that I may fear nothing so much as to commit it again."
He will carefully recall to mind the sins he has committed by thought, word, action or omission against the commandments of God and of the Church, and against his duty of state. He will mention the circumstances that could make a venial sin mortal, the number of times the sins were committed, the harm caused, etc.
If he has any trouble entering into his inner self, the penitent will not hesitate to seek help, either by using a missal or prayer book or by asking the priest to help him, always asking God and especially the Holy Ghost to help him see his faults and negligence more clearly.

When I had my 1962 Latin Mass missal blessed by a NO priest, he asked me if I know how to use it. I was tempted to ask him the same or did he ever saw its contents or read or used the missal himself before. But for my upbringing and the Holy Spirit's guidance that I held my tongue.

He stood facing God as the representative of all present.
When Christ comes again he will come from the east, the priest and the congregation would face east towards his second coming.
In the old rite, the priest faced away from the congregation, performing the rituals for God directly, not for or really with the people.
To face God, similar to how the Jews offered their sacrifice to God.

I just… don’t understand why they would remove this… I just don’t understand why I as a new convert 23 yo male in south central Kentucky am not allowed to have this. I’ve spoke to the priest numerous times. He’s extremely pro norvos ordo I believe it’s because of being ordained in 1970. But still I just don’t understand how someone could prefer the new mass over this. Or at least if the people wish for the traditional why are we not allowed to have it? If they makes us feel closer to God why can’t we do that? Why?? Give the people what they want.
Mass is Mass. I must say though, there's something to this. I am also from the south, NC, where we likely are even less Catholic than Kentucky (a state I genuinely LOVE btw), and it is a desert of true Catholicism. The priests are generally bad or uncaring. The bishop is an asshat, the Diocese does not help me. I was in Catholic school my whole life and surprisingly realize I want to take this as far as it will go. I want it all the way, I see such spiritual fruit in Tridentine Mass, why not have them both? I love Pope Francis so much but wish, if trying to get rid of Tridentine Mass, was his method of going after conservatives who try to keep people like me out of the Church, that he'd find another way. Just defrock them. Let this Mass be, we should have options. It's like a spiritual trance. Imagine how many New Age people we'd convert, since they already listen to Gregorian Chant!
