They were the best
I miss you Vince. Beautiful sounds
Holy wars on the Suffer for Sound Album isn't great but it's waaay better than the reggae version here.
BYE Far the funnier Program over SNL....binge watching all the old episodes...
Too bad the CINEMAX shows never made it to dvd. Iirc Shout Factory planned on doing it but i dont think it happened😢
19:41 just marking my favourite bit 😂❤😂❤
Thanks to whoever made this doc. I'm such a huge fan from seeing there show from Canada on a trip to Maine where we could pick up the broadcast. I was a little kid and the first thing I saw by total accident was Dave Thomas doing an ad parody for a microwave. He reaches into it and his hand is a skeleton hand. LOL. I was like, wtf is this? It's perfect!
They didn't pay andrea and Katerhin as writers too? ! I hope things are better now for women. Somehow, I doubt it.
John Candy wasn't paid as a writer either.
I am working on a podcast about Vince’s life. Could I have permission to use some audio clips of this interview please?
No thanks, have a good one.
Dad was at ITV in the audio dept for 2 years of SCTV, had a great time.
Back then Phoenix bands would occasionally show up on “the Wallace and ladmo show” I know the spiders (Alice Cooper) were on there a lot ,I wonder if the beans ever made an appearance?
SCTV used to be coming in fuzzy, thru UFH. Best stuff on.
LOVE SCTV! The amount of Canadian talent spawned from SCTV is ridiculously awesome. Watch Schitt's Creek, THE funnest Sitcom of 2020. Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara are hilarious along with Eugene's son Dan and the rest of the cast it is by far the best I've seen
My sister used to do a good Edith Prickly impersonation. Lots of memorable characters.
I loved this show. Living in the Detroit area I used to get the real early shows with Harold Ramos. Then it came to late night NBC 90 minutes. I'd get off work at 11 get home just in time to watch it. Laughing my ass off, better than SNL. Sadly when Dave and Rick left Catherine was gone, it lost some of the magic that made it great. Strange Brew was so stupid it was hilarious. Even there album was great. But as Dave Thomas said he thought the movie came out a year too late, the frenzy for Bob and Doug had died down by then. I really miss that time.
one of the only bands that can not make a bad song!
What an amazing cast of characters, I can remember when SNL first aired, I was in HS and every Monday we’d be trying to imitate the cast members. I later learned that many got their start in Second City TV. Thank goodness for Comedy 🎭, it’s a key part of staying young at heart 💚. I often think back to those Wild & Crazy days, like these comedic geniuses say, those days were the best days of my generation.
Brilliant. Great footage. A life wasted. Very sad.
You didn't watch all of it, he was set up and od by the police.
29:30 yes and !
A brilliant gig, a pity the audio isn't the same quality as the Zappa set before it.
Knebworth '78 was one of the best festivals I ever went to... amazing.
from 41:46 OMG I vaguely remember the Jerry Lewis telethon from when I was a kid, and I know people watched just to watch him break down...but wow, I can't imagine turning the TV on late on Saturday night and seeing THIS, a complete celebrity train wreck that just goes on and on. It's like, my friends and I watched SCTV and the whole Bobby Bittman thing and we thought it was funny, sleazy show biz and all that but I had no idea that this was the level of madness they were parodying.
Love BÖC! Going to see the Öyster Boys in November!
This is great late 1960s rock man ! I assume Sputnik was the only guitarist in this lineup . Is that true ? please any and all replies !
Yes
Fred Willard’s show…what a gem!! One of the most unique entertainers ever.
Oh good, the music tones down after a while. This is gold , I'm probably going to watch this three or four more times in the next week. The Bittman Jerry Lewis stuff is so awesome to hear about!
I remember seeing The Beans on KAET-TV, channel 8, playing several songs, maybe a whole show of 30 or 60 minutes, around this time. Is there any chance that show survived?
Joe Flaherty recently passed away. So incredibly talented!
A perfect televison show.
RIP Joe Flaherty (June 21, 1941 - April 1, 2024), aged 82 RIP Harold Ramis (November 21, 1944 - February 24, 2014), aged 69 RIP John Candy (October 31, 1950 - March 4, 1994), aged 43 RIP Tony Rosato (December 26, 1954 - January 10, 2017), aged 62 You will be remembered as legends.
Can't believe this is The Tubes. Very below par unfortunately.
I miss Gilda Radner.
The ONLY BAND to put. 5 guitars plugged in to 20 Marshall stacks on stage ! Fuckin 70's my decade... ✌️
Anything you can do about the blank between 01'02'23 and 01'05'05 ?
BRILLIANT
The Jerry Lewis thing and the Lola Heatherton backstory were great.
These people are my comedy heroes.
Vince was one of the sweetest people I've ever known.
Remember sneaking out of bed to watch SCTV with my sister. SHHHHHH!! Don't tell mom and dad!
1979 in Columbus Ohio was wonderful. Intermission with a group of 20. It was an orgy or ROCK & ROLL Twister on Veteran's Memorial stage.
The best show of ever.
LOVED THIS!!! Thanks - watched SCTV on a station out of Baltimore in the late 70's/early 80s
Anyone know if live recordings are available? My fave live band back in the day!
This is the only one on CZcams, enjoy.
Thanks. Sure wish there were more.
Saw them many times back in the day. Including the Hot Dog NY show. Even crashed a night at their house once when I lived on the streets. They were my favorite live band in those days. Broke my heart when they left Phoenix. I wish there were some bootleg live cds.
I was there! Right at the front. Awesome stage show. Was there for Zappa and loved that set, but didn't know if I would get into these guys after a long day on the beer - but I was transfixed. Such clever musicianship combined with rock opera type visuals. Wish it was filmed! If it was, I was stage left with a massive grin on my face.
how do you just walk on stage doing what ever or imitating who ever - and cause of your body language and eye brows, the audience 1st try's to hold back laughter, then within seconds starts to piss them selfs laughing??? but this guy pulled it off without fail!! what a special talent. I was only about 7 to 9 years old when john was prime and doing his thing, and i remember missing him right away after he died. I can also recall the cafeteria scene in animal house when he gets on line with the food tray and the music in the back ground, as one of the hardest and longest times i ever laughed in my life - top 10 for sure, and i was only 8 when i seen that.
Rock and roll musicians with laser beams! Is that too much to ask???
I've been going to their shows since 1975, and what impresses me is that, despite having played songs like "Stairway to the Stars," "E.T.I." and "Cities on Flame" a few thousand times, Buck Dharma plays them differently every night, like he's playing them for the first time
Greatest American rock ‘n’ roll band period.
100% Correct .. only The Doors come anywhere near BOC's greatness.
BOC blows away all other American hard rock bands.
correct, 2nd will maybe be Grand Funk.
That is why I love BÖC. Since 1973 when I was a Jr in high school. Seen them several times and have never been disappointed.
