Snap Weight Walleye - Deep Water LIMITS! #walleye #fishingvideo
We make a road trip to Barcelona Harbor on Lake Erie’s Eastern Basin near the Pennsylvania and New York border chasing suspended walleye using snap weights and worm harnesses. The fish in this area of the lake tend to be suspended in deep water at this time of year. We have really loved the snap weights for their ability to get to a precise depth quickly using monofilament line which makes for a better experience fighting the fish. We limit out on nice walleye and share some cool catches.

A great day trolling snap weights and harnesses for Lake Erie walleye and a bonus catfish! You never know what you might run into in the eastern basin of Lake Erie. We were on one of the first trolling trips of the season targeting big post spawn walleye when one of the rods doubled over. We realized right away it was a big fish but didn't know what it was until we finally got it to the surface...

Beautiful fish.....nice box full of eaters.
That golden color gets me every time! I think they’re cool looking fish.
bro why you wearing them fishing pants in this summer heat ? i get it you want to look cool , but you look hot in a non gay kinda way .
Hahaha! It was a cool start that day. I almost melted before I took them off later in the morning. Thanks for watching.
Nice video looks like you guys were having a blast.......nice rubber lip trout😂
Thanks! That was an odd catch for sure. Never a dull moment.
Awesome man!
Thank you!
nice limit 👍👍some better size fish too
Thanks! The fish have been getting bigger as the summer goes on. Some good videos coming up!
Is there a dive curve for the heavier snap weights?
The precision trolling app only goes to 3 ounces.
GOOGLE SNAP WEIGHT CHARTS AND YOU'LL FIND ONE FOR 6 OZ
Great video ! What line are you using and lb test ?
Thanks! The main line is berkley trilene big game in 12 lb and the leader is berkley trilene xl in 10 lb.
Pretty good fisherman 👍🏻
He does pretty well! Thanks for watching.
what time of the year do you uses stick baits? instead of worm harnesses!!
You can really use them at any time but we prefer mid summer or when fish are moving around in the basin a lot. You can cover a lot of water trolling faster than with the slow troll we use with crawler harnesses.

Wow some nice Jumbo's 👍👍
Of course, Tommy was in the boat :)
What Day was this’ ?
COULD YOU INCLUDE THIS IN YOUR VIDEOES SO WE DON'T ALWAYS HAVE TO ASK PLEASE!

Wow!! What a WALLEYE!! Great fish!!
Thank you!
sweet burbot 👍👍i heard of guys getting them at night on ice
It was a cool catch. First time we had ever seen one.
What kind of swivel do you guys use to avoid line twist
We use Spro ball bearing style. But we still get some twist from time to time.
HOW DEEP IS DEEP WHAT BRAND WAS THAT SPOON?
That spoon is a Bass Pro Shops Demon Dancer in 1 oz. We were fishing around 48-50’ of water.

yummy lake erie lobster
So good!
it looks like you guys have a very good landing ratio. What size hooks are you using or your harnesses? Are you sourcing beads from 3D as well as blades?
The front single hooks are size 4 and the back treble hook is a size 6.
Nice fish guys.....changed to a treble trailer hook because of you guys. Also ordered some willow blades to give them a shot.
Thanks! Lots of opinions in those treble hooks but our experience has been good and those willow leaf blades are great! Stop back and let us know how you make out. Tight lines.
Got here from Bill & Mikes Massively Awesome Adventures. I can't believe I missed all these vids, time to BINGE! (Subbed now👍

good to have contacts ✌you guys had them dialed in 👍👍
Just finding them and staying on them is half the battle!
Great video I was gonna go out this past weekend on Erie but I wanted to jig I’m not a big troller went cayuga to jig up some lakers instead first time catching and cooking lakers man they are just as tasty as walleye in my opinion.
That sounds awesome, what a great trip!
Also how long are you getting charge on electric trolling motor?
The 24 volt system gets us about 6 hours.
Great video. You and your Dad put the beat down on the walleyes.
Thanks! Appreciate you coming along for the ride.
Going to have to Give White a try “”” 👍🏻
Ever use those Tadpole divers ?
White has been huge for us this year. You won’t be sorry.
What’s a tadpole diver? Always interested in trying something new.
@@willsworldoutdoors offshore tackle tadpole divers ,
Was out there on the 12th of June in the Same spot but we Bottom Bounced and the Bite was just like that . Boated 10 and missed a few because of that light Bite . Just getting a single hook in them ‘
Sometimes they just nibble their way to the hooks and other times they swallow the entire thing. Just depends on their mood I guess.
@@willsworldoutdoors We don’t set hooks when trolling and just keep tension on the line when taking boards off . Most of the time they are coming unhooked in the Net.
@@mrmoparrr we set the hook lightly because we feel like with our slow troll around 1.2 mph we need a little more tension to keep them buttoned up. In the faster trolls like dragging crankbaits we just grab the rod. I would say we’re still feeling it out though :)
Looks like this was a trip earlier this year and just posted four days ago? Cold weather gear on all day makes me think this was in April May. Am I wrong?
This was the last weekend of May.
Definitely a burbot. Not rare in lake erie but somewhat uncommon and rare to catch this time of the year. Good eating. Got one off ashtabula in the winter once.
Thanks for the intel! Pretty cool fish.
That could have been an Ontario record burbot? 28 inches is the current record I think 🤔
Burbot.
Thank you!
Poor man's lobster!!!
I wish we would have kept it now.
Burbot....delicious
Thanks!
Looked like a snake head but I have no clue what species it was
Everyone is saying burbot. They are in the cod family.
I CAN'T COMMENT ON SHORTS WHY? IT WAS A BURBOT OR LING COD YES THEIR GOOD EATING
Hmmm. Not sure why that might be happening. Everyone is saying burbot as well. Wish we would have kept it for the table.
I JUST GOOGLED THIS, LINGCOD & BURBOT ONE IN THE SAME AS I SAID. THEY ARE ALSO DELICIOUS TO EAT. MY FATHER OCCASIONALLY CAUGHT THEM ON WHITEFISH TRIPS TO L SIMCO IN ONTARIO. NOW SMOKED WHITEFISH THERE A TREAT. WESTFIELD FISHERS IN BARCELONA SELLS SMOKED WHITEFISH THAT IS OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!
Excellent eating fish.
That’s what I’m learning.
What orange line are you guys using?
It’s Berkley Trilene Big Game 12 lb.
Gents, I enjoy watching your channel, and learning about the Buffalo end of Lake Erie. Recently, I bought a new-to-me boat that came paired with a Lowrance Elite9 Ti head unit and total scan transducer. The system (Sidescan/Downscan/2D) works very well, but I have decided to switch to Garmin. In appreciation of both of you, and your channel, I would like to offer the Lowrance Elite Ti system to you free of charge. The unit is currently on my boat, but I plan on removing it this week (weather permitting)... lmk if you are interested.
I can’t thank you enough for your generosity and kind words about our channel. I’m going to pass only because we also have plans to upgrade before next season in a big way! Thanks again and hope to see you on the water!
@@willsworldoutdoors Great to hear! Best of luck!
@willsworldoutdoors. I live in Kenmore. Do you ever take people out with you? I would love to go!
We would have a great time I’m sure, but the boat is booked with friends and family through the end of the season. If we can share some additional information to help you get on fish let us know!
Is there still fish to be had by the gaps? Or just out deeper?
Out deeper is better quality fish.
@@willsworldoutdoors I’m gonna head out of Dunkirk end of the week if wind allows. I was out of catt last week trying for perch and walleye both were real scattered but I heard 60 to 70 fow for both
We did pretty well in Dunkirk at those depths a week ago. Good luck! Should still be plenty of fish there.
AGAIN PLEASE WHEN WAS THIS TRIP.
This was the last week of May.
@@willsworldoutdoors GOOD JOB THAT WHEN I FINALLY GOT MY 2 TURKEYS START ERIE AFTER THE 4TH OF JULY
Nice ✌looks like the resident Walleye population is growing with lots of smaller and eater size fish👍👍- the big fish from the west end should be arriving early this year 😁
That resident population is crazy. Lots of fish. We did start to get into some bigger fish in the last week or two in Barcelona and Dunkirk. They’re coming!
Migratory fish from Ohio/pa have been here first week on june
We haven’t seen any in Buffalo yet but with these warm lake temps it’s possible.
LATER THIS YEAR
That’s what I’m thinking.
Are those glow beads on that harness with the white blade??
Yes they are.
What depth were you running your bait ?
We were in 40’ running the baits within 10’ of the bottom.

Hooked into a big cat last year while bass fishing in that same area. We thought we snagged, after 5 minutes of repositioning the boat trying to get our "snag" out we realized there was a fish on. Love the content guys, great to see father and son spending time together out on the water.
Glad you like the videos! It’s amazing the fish the lake holds. We’ve got some great stuff coming up this summer.
My sons caught a 20-pound channel catfish, 34 inches long, not far from the Buffalo harbor last weekend in 35-40 ft of water. We were also jigging for Walleye, as well as using blades. The cat thumped my black/silver blade. Took 15 minutes to reel in. The cat was just a few inches shy and about 5 lbs shy of the Lake Erie record (37 inches, 26 lbs - caught out of Lake Erie near Erie, PA in 2022). We managed to get it in on 10 lb test line. Was safely released and swam back into the deep. Have plenty of photos of it (was nearly as long as my 14 yr old son is tall lol)...wish CZcams would allow photos in comments. What you caught was also a channel cat. The monster channel cat we caught was mostly black, with some yellow on its belly.
Oh wow! Nice work getting that fish in. That’s a memory that will last a lifetime.
@@willsworldoutdoors They really dig down and put up a great fight. The channel cat you guys caught was also a monster...had to weigh upwards of 15-20 lbs. That one looked fatter than the one we caught, just not as long.
Fished inside last week caught endless shorts. Good crop for next year
That area seems to have become like a nursery for our local walleye population!
