As a 2.0 phase 3 GTV owner I have to admit I'm still wanting to scratch the Busso itch even though I found a tidy, well maintained example, nothings missing, everything works and it's a total pleasure to drive. This one looks awesome in the Azzurro Nuvola and the Alfaholics treatment no doubt makes it even more special. What a thing!

When I turned 16 my 1st bike was a Honda c200 (1965 model) . It was a great little bike. I am now in my 60s & I have just purchased another one (1965 model). Drain the old oil from the engine & refill with new oil before you try to start the engine.Regards Ian (Carlisle, England)

68 KF 57 was used by 104 REGT RA (V) and then later 37 SIG REGT. So UK based with no deployment. In to service 1986 and cast quite late in 2010 from storage.

The L85 rack is not pointing up for safety, as any soldier stowing a loaded rifle would be on a serious charge! It is the mk2 mount area, originally being one on the passenger floor to dash and one horizontally on the bulkhead behind the seats. The Wolf has them between the seats also but higher mounted. The trailer would have been a 3/4 ton trailer, by Sankey, or Bradley, etc. The Penman is much newer having arrived around 2004 designed for the Wolf, this 90 Land Rover would have been cast from service before the Penman was made.

If you want a cheap 90s Honda civic with a manual transmission just buy you a automatic since those are cheaper and nobody wants them and easier to find unmolested cause nobody wanted to mod a automatic honda civic or something similar to it like jntegras back then cause they was slow and expensive back in late 90s to early 2000s to swap from auto to manual. Now you just buy a auto and swap it to manual and boom manual trans civic wery easy to do. We use to turn autos into manuals all the. Time when i was 10 racing fwd 4 cylinder class back in 2002 -2005. And trust me you can also use different trans between covics and integras and they will bolt up to each other and make more lower rpm torque and different gear ratios ect. Even the 90s saturns will out run a stock 90s honda civic all day long so those are over looked cars and very cheap to pick up a nice one thats two door and manual for very cheap and they have tons of mods and tunes and aftermarket parts for those as well

I ise to make fun of them when in highschool at the Civic boys cause they was wanting to be like out of the movie fast and furious 1,2& tokyo drift. I did grow up racing asphalt oval track cars and tbh my first oval track car was a 92 chevy caviler and it would put run all the 90s civics and this was backnin 03 and saturns the 2 door ones fron 90s also kileed the covics power wise and habdeling wise but now all you see is integras civics and corollas camrys and mazdas for that 4 cylinder fwd class. I race rear wheel drive 800 hp latemodels now. But in ealry 2000s i had 3 civics for oval racing, cavilers and 2 saturns i went through in the 3 years i raced thst class and now i wosh i jad t gutted out and ruined the hatch back and coupe civics i had cause they was in mint condition before we built them into racecars. We was supposed to be stock and no motor mods but we did head work and tuned them and would do motor swaps ect cause some motors from other cars are the same motor for like the caviler but they made them a little faster and just tons of little stuff we did and on the dyno my civic made 210 fwhp which was nuts but nevwr got disqualified gor cheating jist a really well built motor and read betwen the lines of the rules wish i had those 3 civics bow as street/track day cars. I think the golden era for German Cars (Mercedes & BMW) was from 1985 to 1995, I was lucky to find a black E34 525i 1995 with M50 straight 2.5L engine, I bought it without any hesitation as I believe it resembles the ultimate driving machine in its essence form, I wish I could find the 530i version which comes with 3L V8 engine but it is difficult to find.

They were great cars: reliable, practical, roomy, solid and safe .... the 740 (4cyl engines B23/B230(T) were bulletproof and they were a no-contact engine too), easy and cheap to repair and maintain .... excellent !!! I was lucky to have owned two: 1986 740 wagon and 1988 740 turbo wagon !!!

Great car, I think Mercedes brought out the wrap around light, along with the snow proof rear light, hence the channels on their earlier models. The rear lenses on this volvo can be revived by detailing, as you would with ghe paint work.

Have a 240GL which I recently drove to Donegal from Limerick, delightful, then I did the same journey a week later in a modern Audi A6. The Volvo was so much nicer to drive. Slower, thirstier, put put a big smile on my face.

There's a misconception that the Boxster's handling is so sure handed and won't have you going side ways like the 911. At the limit you must respect the handling parameters of the mid-engine design. The Boxster can experience snap oversteer at the limit.

Grew up with a 740 na automatic wagon, black on black. My father worshiped that thing, I hated that car engine would have been well suited to a pencil sharpener had no power, no cup, holders, and the AC couldn't keep up with a hot day in SC. Those seats burned after it had warmed in the sun for an hour or 2. Hateful thing.

Lovely down to earth review, as always John. Your style is unique and a joy to listen to. 😊 As for the owner. It depends on a lot of things. As you pointed out, he will not get so much fun for so little anywhere else. The piano finish, carbon fiber accents, the Recaro partial leather seats and the new head unit are all amazing, as is the performance given the fuel economy observed. This is affordable sports performance for very little sacrifice. That engine bay is a delight to behold as well. As for Clarkson, I’m’ sorry, but he’s an idiot and not a reference point for us mere mortals. He drives high performance cars that he doesn’t have to buy and he throws them around a closed circuit with wanton abandon. Sure, he can find the limits to a front wheel drive car, something that he has never liked, but for the average owner, it’s a very compelling proposition, that costs a fraction of the price of his preferred steeds. So, if the owner is itching for something new, he might have to double the budget, or worse. If he has that kind of money, that’s fine, and he should sell it to a loving owner who appreciates how lucky they are. If he’s strapped for cash, this is as good as it gets for that budget and he should keep it until circumstances change. That said, I’m not a fan of the exterior styling. I just don’t think that it works very well. The period Megane is better IMHO, and so is the VW Golf, or an Audi A3. The Focus RS, however, is even worse styling, so regardless of its other qualities, I wouldn’t swap this OPC Astra for that. If the owner does sell it, he should make sure the new owner is going to love it to death, which is what it deserves.

I owned one of these back in the day, early 90's. Didn't keep it long. Yes, it could shift. But, really, it was a car with few subtleties. Away from giving it stick, I never felt that I could sit back and relax. And it always felt like a big car. Contrast with an XJ6. The definition of being able to drive fast, without hassle, and arrive not feeling tired. Oh, and my XJ never felt like I was driving a big car.

The Owner should Hold onto the OPC Astra. I'd hate to see the Car getting Passed around and Wrecked after all the Work done ......

I had a 1988. In 1985 the trim level got more integrated and looked batter than 1984. I always thought the 1984 rear bumper was ugly and looked as if a kid designed it and it was just slapped on.

Sorry but not a great start to the video to start by giving false information. The car was not designed by Walter De Silva. It was designed by Enrico Fumia at Pininfarina and the interior is by Centro Stile Alfa Romeo. Also the 3.2 has 240hp as standard. Getting 270 out of it would require uprated cams, not just ECU remap. Other than that, nice video of what I think is a somewhat forgotten and under appreciated modern classic.
