Say Tommy boy, I like your AI pop 3D old movie conversion stuff I really do but I've got a bunch of much newer movies that are really good if you'd like to hear them. First we have the X-Men movies there are three of them that are filmed in 3D that are really good called Wolverine, X-Men Days of Future Past and X-Men apocalypse if you would like to watch them and review them. There's also Batman versus Superman and justice league and Shazam from the DC Universe that I don't think you've reviewed yet but they're really good movies and really good 3D. Anyway I've got a lot more if you would like to hear about them other than that I mean you do great work I like your old stuff that you're reviewing but I have a lot of new stuff if you would like to hear it write it down and maybe review it? Anyway keep up the Great work!
Is the movie screen absolutely necessary? How's the 3D if I project it onto a wall?
@@Garasky a wall can be just as good. I used the wall for some time.
@@TommyBoy3D Got it. Thanks!
Will you do Battle of the Five Armies?
Kenneth I need to get back to those. I think I only covered the first one. Thx for reminding me.
@@TommyBoy3D I actually have the theatrical versions in 3D
@@KennethEspericueta340 I have the trilogy on 3D and I'm pretty sure they are all the theatrical versions. I have reviewed part 1. I need to get back and do the other ones, part 2 and part 3...... P.S. I subbed your channel....keep up the good work! 🙂
@@TommyBoy3D i may review them one day
I got the 3Ds of the trilogy (theatrical editions)
Are you going to see Deadpool & Wolverine in 3D? My out of the theater first impression it's not mind blowing but certainly some fun moments that make the action set pieces feel more grand.
I probably will not. Thanks for your feedback though. I appreciate it. 🙂
Glad you enjoyed the 3D *and* the movie! It's a pretty bonkers film but there is a high entertainment factor if you don't take it too seriously. From a historical perspective it's also an interesting time capsule from the era.
Thanks for the review Tommy! And glad you enjoyed it - in terms of quality Phil has again knocked it out of the park, it is actually pretty much EYEPOP quality at half the price. In terms of the process for clarity, it's mostly the same as our EYEPOP releases we've just done a little less rotoscope work and considerably less of the fancy add-ons and negligible marketing, but as you'll have seen for the final product it really doesn't show - and oh man the hair... it's the compromise we have to accept that makes it possible to produce these without the Marvel level 5 Million dollar conversion budgets. We're really on the look out for more films that only feature Telly Savalas... ;) Thanks again!
Love the Telly comment. If you ever feel my reviews are too long feel free to edit them for your web site. Cheers!
I think the Marvel conversions only cost somewhere from $2 to $4 million. But yeah, you guys do impressive work. Not on par with The Marvels nor Deadpool and Wolverine, but not too far off.
@@Shahaneh 😊. It would be nice to even get 10% of a Marvel conversion budget!
3D does extreme anti-aliasing, so thats why you can view any angle. I hope you will review Deadpool and Wolverine 3D Blu-ray when it comes out. Did you review The Marvels?
I did review some of them yes. Thanks!
@@TommyBoy3D I was talking about Captain Marvel 2. It's called The Marvels.
Great review as always! My only question is, does Eyepop and PlanD do anything other than horror movies? I just can't stomach horror movies but would love to see some older 3D movies. Thanks!
I'd say this film is pretty borderline mild horror, even for the era (I personally am not a horror movie fan either). That said you may want to check out Andrew's "Conversion Curiosities" disc which is also available on the Plan D site. My next Plan D release is also right around the corner and it is *not* a horror movie.
@@Phil3D-youtube okay I'll check out the site! What movie are you looking forward to?
I got my shipment a few days ago so I'm sure most people who initially ordered then did. I haven't seen this one yet but plan on it soon!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
I have to disagree, I think Tangled was the better movie, song-wise and story-wise. And personally, I thought the 3D had a couple great pop outs during the lantern scene. But I respect your opinion none the less. Sorry you didn't enjoy this film as much as you thought you would.
It is A great 60's drive in 3d version it is from Scream Factory to that company make sure you watch with 3d glasses and enjoy and drink beer
Thanks for the comments and thanks for watching!
Hi Tommy, thanks for the great review. Quick question, Were you going to see Deadpool and Wolverine in 3d?
still waiting for the battle of the five armies
What is the set up you using ?
is that the main menu screen for the blu ray or the blu ray 3d
So is this main menu screen that’s in the background is it the blu ray 3d version or the 2d blu ray version
I was wondering if you'd like to cover Rise of the Guardians it's a DreamWorks movie that is very underrated
@@KennethEspericueta340 If that is the one with the owls 🦉 I did cover that one.
@@TommyBoy3D no that's a different one
You need to see F13 pt 3d !!!! They fkin got it right!!!!!!!!! New scan of the movie and 3D has been converted to today's 3D. It is absolutely nostalgia done right!!!!
@@GATURKS Yes! And I have reviewed it! Thanks for watching!
Spot on with this review, great film and great conversion. I had a wee look at the anaglyph version too and it was also excellent.
Awesome review 👍🏾
Thanks for the review! Looking forward to popping in my copy of this release and watching it all.
"Monsters??!!...We're British you know!!" I Love this movie. I got my digital copy a couple of weeks ago. The conversion is flawless in my opinion. Even the train lights at the very beginning had life and depth. The depth of the empty eye sockets of the monster when it was still in the ice was simply astonishing. But just to witness Christopher and Peter in stunning 3D was such a treat.
Great comments!
This film is in my top ten of all time, of any genre. One of the greatest horror movies ever made IMO. EyePop’s 3-D conversion isn’t as strong overall as I would have liked, but it’s fairly solid and there are several extremely impressive shots of train corridors and exteriors/models. And as you said, the conversion is pretty much perfectly done, with no anomalies that jumped out at me. One thing I must disagree with you a bit on is the music score; far from sounding merely dubbed in here and there, John Cacavas’ haunting theme is extremely memorable, extremely well-used, and is a vital part of the film’s atmosphere. It’s also extremely whistleable. I will agree that silence is also used extremely well. I LOVE THIS MOVIE! 🤓
Totally agree on the score. It was haunting. It almost had a Ennio Morricone feel to it. Wonderfull stuff!
Yes, I dropped the ball on the music. I just wanted to point out that at times I appreciated the silence instead of cheesy music. The score was very good. My bad.
Sounds like a great 3D ride. I look forward to picking this up. First though, I’ve got to watch and review House on Haunted Hill 3D. Still don’t know why I haven’t gotten around to it yet.
Sounds like a terrific watch. Looking forward to seeing it. Loved the little montage end of the review.
Thanks man! Can not wait to your take on this one.

The 3D in Legends Of Flight is amazing. But a little off topic but can you review Wim Wenders Pina in 3D it's available as apart of the Criterion collection and right now at Barnes And Nobles they're having 50% off on their movies so you can get this for cheap, I thank you and love your 3D movie reviews being a strong supporter of this format.
I'll check it out. Thank you for watching!
Hi TommyBoy! Would you like to get in contact with me? Maybe reviewing my 3D animated doc "How I Survived the Pyongyang Film Festival 3D"? czcams.com/video/x1RrPQKVXgg/video.html
I agree. This was a fun movie with some surprisingly great 3D. I know I give out “great” ratings to animated films all the time on my site. But this was one film where, like you said, the 3D made it a whole different movie. That one shot where the camera starts from the outside of the game cabinet to bursting through the screen, putting everything in Fix it Felix into 3D space really hit me that this was going to be a 3D banger. And it was. Keep up the good work.
Great review. Incidentally, I think "Emergo" is pronounced with a soft G, as in "emerge".
How did I miss your review on this one? Thanks YT for recommending it out the blue today. I enjoyed this one too. In hindsight its a pretty unique 3D movie - I can't think of another 3D cave thriller. I found the acting wasn't all that bad. Some people have no patience for anything that doesn't fit within their circle of perfect. One the trap springs it was a claustrophobic thrill ride to the end. Great movie.
Just picked this trilogy up the standard cut 3d and extended cut 3d and the 3d does not disappoint. It's fantastic! Awesome review!
Great review. I picked this up last year to watch with my dad on father's day. He thoroughly enjoyed it, as he is a major WW2 buff. I believe this aired during the history channel's short-lived foray into 3D features.
Just ordered from Andrew online. Looking forward to watching. Had purchased house on haunted hill on his Kickstarter and enjoyed it. Miss watching all the classics.
Nice one Tommy. If you don't have it, I recommend the Tony Robinson series (from Sky) "World War 1 in 3D" which I remember being a lot better than this one. Incidentally, this is a UK thing that you may or may not know - British soldiers were traditionally known as "Tommys"! When/if it happens, I do hope the next big war is fully documented in stereo: The name "World War 3D" will be too good an opportunity to miss - although, sadly, we probably will all miss it as there won't really be anyone left around to watch it. (I'll be in my bunker, of course...) Cheers mate.
Hey mate! All great comments. I’ll check out that Tony Robinson series. Never knew about the “ Tommy’s” 🫡☺️
Best thumbnail yet! And a good review too :) I liked this one as well
Thanks so much!
Interesting find.
This has been sitting on my shelf forever unwatched. I never looked into it and assumed it was another filler doc from the brief era of 3D TV networks. Actually grabbed it and read the back along with your narration. Lol. Maybe I'll actually watch it now. Sounds like a tremendous 3D find.
It is what it is. But if your serious about 3D as we are…it’s something that should be in your collection. Interested in hearing your take on it.
Intriguing. I came across this a couple of times on my Amazon searches, but just hadn’t picked it up. Now, I might just put it up on my priority list a couple notches. You know, now that you mention it, there’s hardly any WWII films out there in 3D. If I’m wrong, feel free to correct me. But yeah, I wish there were more. Personally, this disc reminds me of They Shall Not Grow Old which was actually a WWI film consisting of old footage that was colorized and converted to 3D. Unfortunately, it wasn’t released on 3D Blu Ray, so I can’t watch the 3D version. But I’ve still heard great things about it. Maybe I’ll give it a watch sometime soon. P.S. You know, you mentioned how 3D was used as propaganda back in the day for Germany. That kinda remained me of when Avatar was seeking to get released in China back in the day, but the anti-imperialist message went against Winnie the Pooh’s own way of running things. Eventually, China reluctantly decided to release the film there, but it would only be the 3D version. Their thinking was that the audience would be so mesmerized by the 3D effects they wouldn’t pay that much attention to the message. I don’t know. They way you described 3D propaganda here made me think of how China decided to use 3D as reverse propaganda of sorts for Avatar’s message of going against oppressive authority.
Thanks for the comments. I seen a film on WWI called "they will not be silent" I think it was. They used computers to read lips and put dialogue, sound and color. It was amazing.
They Shall Not Grow Old.*@@TommyBoy3D
...great cover shot on the vid ....General Tommy War Nickle 🫡
hahahahah....thanks!
looks like a good one
If you are a collector, you have to have it. It's something unique.
Cool find tommy!
Thanks Dustpan! It's not full of video footage but it's still a must have.
I've seen this one too. It was pretty awesome. Some of the 3D made my head hurt though. But I enjoyed it.
It was just the right length before my eyes would have bugged out. True stereography can be hard on the eyes. Thx for watching!
Little black box? Well, WHAT IS this? WHERE do I get one????
They are hard to find, expensive and take some time to learn. This is a two-part video so check out part one for more information. Thinking it through. Today I would probably go with a cheap metal detector. Thanks for watching!
Nice i don't know if you have seen the new Garfield movie i saw that in 3D a few days ago i thought it was really good 3D.
Oof, Boeing? Did the planes stay up or crash into your living room?
I'll be tracking this down. But I just wanted to mention a movie that I recently purchased, "Treasure Of The Four Crowns". Most nuts pop out scenes I've ever encountered. Movie is basically a sewer level, budget Indiana jones but it's a lot of fun. Give it a go. Great content as usual by the way...
I plan on it! Thanks
Great review, I also ordered this after GFFs recent review and... *WoW!* The 3D in this is top notch, especially the computer generated graphics. For pop-out lovers this is a must own. Plus its certainly not hard to find, there were dozens and dozens of listings on Ebay and I got mine for $7. Subject matter aside, this one is definitely going on my top shelf, with the other reference quality 3D blu-rays.
