The Chase | 2 Skydio drones
How do you get to have two drones fly in perfect symphony to tell your story? Well, with the Skydio drones amazing keyframe and obstacle avoidance technology that is a reality!
I’ve not been more challenged and inspired working on a project than with this. I thought keyframe with one drone is simple so how about using two? One to chase and the other chasing us. To accomplish this single handedly whereas it could have been a 2-3 person project was not easy at all but so worth it. From Getting the timing right for the start on each, to their speed and flight path would have been an impossible task with any other drone. Thanks to keyframe for enabling so many creative possibilities. Skydio for the win!!!!

KEYFRAME | Lost connection

This video shows that the skydio will continue to run the keyframe set even when the drone losses connection. I was able to regain connection though, but its still good to see that it will no abort the keyframe even after intermittent connection interruption.

Now I can definitely say the tracking has improved. The most significant one is how its locked on me even after passing by a bunch of people. Its not perfect but its has gotten sooo much better.

Too bad that Skydio have killed off the Skydio 2 and the only chance of getting one now is off eBay.

Enjoyed this beautiful and useful video very much! Curious what the light was like during the shoot? Cloudy, partly cloudy or clear? Or perhaps more to the point of my question, how well does the sensor deal with specular highlights in the forest? Are you typically shooting under cloud cover or early/late in the day?

If you are just changing battery then it would. However you would have to take off at the same exact spot.

The landing feature is not 100 percent. My Skydio landed on the edge of the case and fell off upon landing.

Yep it works just fine. Didn’t really notice any difference to be honest.

@@MR-AK if you don’t have the Skydio 2 then go for the 2+, however if you have the original then I’d say not really unless you fly a lot in high interference environments.

Upgraded my beacon but did not upgrade the drone, just hoping when I'm on my Quad going through the woods it has an easier time tracking me!

An french Friend's buy a Skydio 2, crash it with a small branch in last winter, and Skydio compagny says no waranty cause it's fly ans crasher in France...
Thanks. I didn't upgrade to the +. I think it would be more interesting to me to range test in the woods, but I have serious range problems with the Skydio2.

What sets the path between keyframes? Is it a straight line or the path that you fly when setting them up?
It’s just a straight line. You can choose between recorded which uses the way you flew to that spot or free which gives you the ability to changethe camera angle and orientation as you fly to the different key frame.
Super helpful thank you! Initially I just attached the USB-C cable to my Xt4 and it froze on a blank screen saying 'usb connected' couldn't even turn the camera back off, had to pull out the batteries. Lost everything on the cards, although could have recovered it I'm sure but fortunetly I was just testing out the gimbal so didn't loose anything imporant. Still, not cool and would be a scary thing to happen in the field/on a job. Have made the menu change as you pointed out and so far so good, so thanks for the tip!!
