A little about myself:
New to my channel? I'm an average recreational cyclist that recently moved from America to Girona, Catalunya, Spain. The Vuelta España and The Tour of Catalunya will all be held here in Spain!
Sometimes I race and when I do, I share my training with you along the way. So far, I've done crit racing, road racing and gravel racing. I haven't done a duathlon or a triathlon yet, but it is something I am thinking about!
So far in Spain, I’ve seen DSM cycling, SD Worx, Team Jayco Alula, Rally / Human Powered Health cycling, Ineos, Arkea cycling, UAE team emirates and more all training here. Did you know there’s also a GCN studio here?

Here's the highlights of how it played out! 00:00 - Luke's Main Competitors 00:25 - First Crash & Attack 01:15 - Luke's React...

There was a HUGE crash on stage 5 of the criterium du dauphine causing the race to be neutralized. Multiple riders were caught up in this crash, including Primoz Roglic, Remco Evenpoel and others. There were a couple of Visma Lease a Bike riders that did not finish the stage. Here's why I think it is bad news for Jonas Vingegaard WEEKS before the Tour de France. He was never worried! He’s got actual talent!
Great interview.
Excellent interview style Calvin! Rosa is super!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't one of the Williams brothers say something about not being in the world tour because of the color of their skin a few years back? A world tour pro spoke out and said, "it's not the color of your skin, it's because you're slow". Now that's funny. Justin also said, "I can race and win in Europe ". Sure you can...
Biniam Girmay
I watched live as Luke won the Cry Baby Hill crit also. A bit closer sprint finish, but he led it out and still won.
Can you imagine M. Jorgensen or McNulty at a US Crit? I bet they could work together and lap the field..
The first time i have seen luke was years back and i knew right away this guy will destroy the field with ease. I am so happy for him he got the contract and prooved this year he is the real deal. Way to go luke but freakin proud of you
expected tbh
Luke Lamperti is very good, and he's the real deal. He even handled the silly questions after the race very well.
More like Tulsa Easy for Luke LOL
I don't see why this is such a fantastic feat.At the tour of Somerville,Carlos Marte beat a field of 159 in the men's Pro 1,2's.Showed them how to Sprint.
I am was wondering where the crit bullies where? Ohhh there was a pro in the bunch.!!!’
Wow, great Interview Calvin! I'm wondering if these gravel privateers like Rosa could be a part of big teams, like EF, Visma or Bora but racing only in the gravel scene. Lachlan Morton is the only one who doing it right now. P.S. Good luck to Rosa, she has some engine!
What a treat she is… the antithesis of Sofia V.
I have a strong feeling this won’t be her only Unbound victory
man laughed at 1 hour when most of us couldn't do 20 minutes at that pace.
Facts!
always nice to see when pretenders get humbled.
Backhanded everybody with the, “it’s better than doing 5”. Cake walk for him
😂😂🎯
$1000 prime and then taking the W is nasty work haha. Luke is such a stand up dude.
Bro was unhinged! He is a lot of fun to watch. Makes it look easy.
In all fairness, you can see people line up behind Lamperti. He gets the benefit of that just as Justin (or Charon for older guys) have always received. There is a bunch of fighting on their wheels but essentially they don't have to fight nearly as hard. I do like that the chickens are coming home to roost. (old country saying)
I'd say Cory Williams and all the other "names" were never Luke's problem. If you're World Tour your biggest enemy at races like these is your own fitness.
Honestly I dont think Luke performed that well in the Giro so its nice to see him get a W here... even if it is against a bunch of lower tier riders
Got to remember that he was there to help Tim Merlier who won three stages. So from a team perspective, Soudal Quick step had a good Giro.
"Great hotels; great food" LOL...
Where are our Slovenian beast Roglic and Pogačar? 🤣🇸🇮Good job guys.
Once you become a pro in Europe, do you think their cycling mentality is just that much more serious and supreme than in the U.S.? I mean the US has mostly crits... and they have hours long road races, and some crits too, but again. is their level just much greater there generally than the US?
Everyone in this peloton are great riders, but World Tour talent is just a completely different level.
@SeeSmithTV yes, I agree. I've seen the numbers, 800 watt efforts for minutes AFTER 4 hours of riding w all the efforts before. ...just mind bending. And even after the race, Luke didn't seen like he was destroyed.
Real pro versus Instagram pro. No contest
Patrick must have popped a bottle after watching this lol. What a great addition to the team.
Biggest criterium in the US? I think Athens Twilight has it beat.
You think Athens is bigger than Tulsa weekend?
"great hotels, great food"' lol the arrogance of saying that, as if Italy didn't have all that.
😂 yea that was pretty wild
lol, they find Gibbons $250 for Unsportsmanlike Conduct because he said mean words to the guy who crashed him out. USA Cycling sucks a fat one.
Still a young man too! 🤷♂️👊💥
Legion is really quiet since that
I don’t trust die-lan. He’s boring and constantly blows smoke out of his arse
Bro just got a top 10 at Unbound. Thats incredibly hard to do.
1h10 is a great training ride for him! And a reality check for those riders who rdeam of moving up a level in cycling.
Imagine if Luke had brought his teammate Tim Merlier on this race! Those former bullies would be far away dusted lol🤣
And then you realize MdVP and WvA would destroy him
The difference between division 1 world tour pro and Cat 1 domestic pro is night and day. Most Cat 1 domestic pros can do ≈ 5 watts/kg for 20 min, that’s high tempo for a world tour pro, something they could do for 120+ min.
Critguys are not cyclist…they wouldn’t stand a chance in the pro peleton or continental or olympic tracks…
This must be pretty demoralizing for the group. In Hindi, there's a word "Aukaat," doesn't translate the best to English, but means showing someone their status or position. It's like giving someone a reality check on where they truly belong-quite a humbling experience!
Could you see your eyes through the Glendale lavender model?
World Tour Pro Cyclist are on a different level
🎯100% there's levels to this
Instagram pro vs real pro
World tour riders with criterium racing experience, yes.
Lets not forget.....Lamperti was winning before he joined the World Tour, but yeah, he's making it look easy and he's only 22.
real pro coming from a big-time real pro race. Everyone is amazing, but he's next-level #PRO
Facts
The interview: great hotels, great food. He was talking about Italy?
Haha no clue
I was thinking the same
When you point out the Luke was 4th wheel behind those 3 x teammates on the last lap, remember that 2 of those guys will remove themselves from contention after doing their leadout. So he only has to deal with 1 of them himself.
yup 🎯
Remco gonna shred.
Great video. Having the Giro in your legs would def make this race seem like a short training ride. Trackies come off the TdF and do low 4minutes for the 4km pursuit at the olympics. The boost from a GT is off the scale.
For sure. This was very impressive. It's been cool to see Luke's progression over the years too. He is still getting better. Great for American cycling.
depends, TVG fighting for GC at the Tour came to Tour of Utah after and was burnt toast
@@bilwit I couldn't equate a 1hour crit to the Tour of Utah, they seem completely different to me.
Good breakdown and commentary
Hey I appreciate that and a thank you to you for taking the time to watch.
Dusan Kalaba looking great on the right wheel, I wish if he've had one more motorpacing workout...
where is nations number one beast? much talk but no go
He was there. Looked like his focus was to work for his teammate that night.
Interviewer at the end 😂
😂Frankie was hyped up
He’s such a beast. Just shows his level compared to everyone else here.
