I lived in Las Vegas for their inaugural F1 race there in 2023. The pre-race & post-race work that needed to be done completely crushed everybody's ability to get around the city for a full 12 months. It was a disaster. They were still trying to clean up after it 5 months after it was over. Attendance was poor. The people who worked in the area couldn't get to and from work on many days w/o a massive hassle. Not during the race week - but for months before and after. Some of the ride share guys chose to leave town, it was so bad. Thailand does not need this freaking nightmare. For having experienced this first hand just last year, I DO NOT recommend that a Pattaya or Jomtien sized area take this on. It will have regrettable side effects. And let's face it, F1 isn't quite The Super Bowl or The Olympics, is it? Not even close.

Yes. Thailand will get an F1 at some stage. Not sure where. Actually the baht bus route makes a great circuit, with some go-go bar pit stops, Just close it for the race day.

It would be brilliant watching cars screaming down Pratumnak soi 5, left turn past the 7-11 chicane and on to Beach road. But let's be realistic, the roads and infrastructure could not cope, vendors and bikes would be on the track, complete with the odd soi dog.

I know a lot of people in around Las Vegas were not pleased to get a Formula One race because it really screwed up traffic and had troubles getting into restaurants and other parts of town.

If Thailand or any other country gets a new Formula One race, they will have to build a track. It's similar to getting an NBA, NFL, MLB franchise in N. America. You get the team after you sign up for building a new stadium. Texas hosts Formula One after somebody ponied up a lot of money for all the new facilities.

I'll go with hi-speed train from Bangkok... As forthe restaurant, there were many tries in the last 15 years to open classy restaurants on beach road in Jomthien. They all wen down. This one looks it's gonna be BIG! Thanks for the update. What about the ex-Sigma?

They would have to close Beach Road AND 2nd Road. - Beach road is too narrow for two-way racing. - Beach road is too short for a one-way trip.

How will a street circuit in Thailand be made safe for F1 cars? There are so many drains, speed humps, electricity poles right next to the road etc. And how on earth would you stop the motorcycle taxis from ignoring the road closed signs 😂😂😂 Surely the inspectors will be looking at the race circuit at Buriram? I'm going there in October to see the MotoGP race and was there for the World Superbike race in 2019. It's a good circuit

I have been in this restaurant many times during the years. The meat is good, the mash potatoes is art. Approx 2 months ago they raised their prices. 200gr fillet is 865 Bahts, service went down dramatically (sometimes, although the restaurant is nearly empty - the waitresses (2) avoid you..) and usually you won’t see many customers as in the past. You can get the same beef quality around 600 Bahts in quite few other places like Nathans, which located close.

What is it with that English breakfast n beans!! iiieuuuw. Prepared cost about 4x as mutch as you would pay in the store uncooked. Papaya salad sticky rice n chicken beats beans tho

Absolutely beautiful, I’m considering staying in Jomtein as it seems a bit relaxed but I believe it’s a bit far from the main walking streets/sois. Any other areas like this that are a bit relaxed but close enough to the main action that it’s walkable?
