Do you need to bike at the start
@@user-zs2vp5zi4y nope! Not required at all, just saves a little time on the way out.
Plan on climbing all the tall mountains in Washington training up to raineer
That’s a great goal! You’ve got a lot of amazing experiences ahead of you. Happy trails! ✌️❤️🏔️
Glad to see that you guys are using electric bikes!
Is there an alltrails link for this? I tried search for Big Snow and Hardscabble but nothing came up. If not alltrails, is there a GPX track?
There will be more info on my website soon, but in the meantime... www.alltrails.com/explore/recording/evening-hike-at-goldmyer-hot-springs-trail-7ac71d4?u=i&sh=rvkuig
@@wildoutsiders Thanks. Sent a request to follow you on alltrails
You stuck your finger in bear shit. Check that one off the list 👀
Hahaha! A little treat for those who make it to the end 🤣
Great video! What kind of prep work would you recommend for people looking to do this climb?
It is a slog! There’s a lot of mental endurance needed. I would say be sure to get a good amount of miles and gain under your feet so you can rely on your physical conditioning to get you to the top.
You guys do a great job of condensed trip recordings. Great editing and shots.
Thank you! I appreciate your comments!
I was born in the Hoh. It will always be my home.
Sorry, I couldn't do the "song"
All opinions welcome! I get it haha, I wanted the feel of the video to be a little uncomfortable since that’s how we felt the whole time on those slopes.
You guys have a great channel.
@@DanNoakes Thank you! Appreciate it!
I’m making this hike this weekend, definitely going to swim lol
@@its.Will_A11en we did post summit and it was marvelous! Good luck!
I ended up getting to the lake, but turned back around halfway up the mountain as it was getting too dark. Summiting next time though :)
Another great one! Looking forward to the next one
Very good video. I wish it was longer.
Thinking of doing this solo this weekend. Any real reason to rope up? I can’t imagine there being much concern for crevasses?
Always good to rope up on a glacier. When we crossed, the crevasse danger seemed minimal. Good luck! It’s beautiful out there.
Nice, thanks for the details. Love your video style! I’m getting super inspired. Thanks for putting this out there!
Awesome video! Curious - which camera did you use to film the sunrise shots? Those scenes have some great dynamic range and really get the detail from the soft light🔥🔥
Thank you! Thank you! That was shot on my buddies Canon R6
Great shots!
Thanks Simon
Awesome awesome awesome!! Super fast turnaround on editing and posting this. Great clips, and congrats on the Rainier on Rainier.
Hey thanks a lot! I appreciate the love!
Would you ever be open to collaboration?
Certainly!
Awesome, awesome, awesome production. What does your camera setup look like on trips like this?
Thank you! Appreciate the love. Canon R5, 24-105 f4, extra cards extra batteries… equates to ~8lbs of gear.
cool adventure! maybe a silly question but how were you able to do this without permits? Were you before permitting starts for the season?
Thank you! Not silly at all. Permits start May 15 so if you plan your adventure prior to that date there is no need for them.
@@wildoutsiders ah ok awesome, thought that might be the case. You nailed it with the timing then.
Dude this is seriously underrated please keep making vids like these you easily earned my subsription
So nice! Thank you!
@@wildoutsiders out of curiosity what camera do you use when you film?
@@roseshighlights6910 Canon R5
@@wildoutsiders thanks
This one was great! I've never heard of it, going to google earth
Why not ski down? You would have saved so much time.
Would have loved to! But on this day, the right move for us was to boot down a bit before getting back on the skis.
Recent trip reports on peakbagger talk about people falling 20' into crevasses hidden by snow cover... The warming climate seems to be destabilizing the mountain even more.. I think you got lucky soloing up that mountain with no ropes 😬.
Thank you for your concern. We had ropes with us and made calls based on the conditions we saw that day. ✌️❤️🏔
That shot @00:55 was incredible
Quite the view up there! ❤️
This is so beautiful. I’m thinking to do it next year
It is a beautiful place! You should definitely go see it for yourself!
All that snow & slopes! = Ski Mountaineering!
Agree! My partner wasn't up for it at that point in his skiing career - he was just learning. If I were to do it again, it'd definitely be on skis.🎿
Awesome maybe my bucket list isn't so far fetched.
That looked amazing. I can't waited to give it a shot. I sectioned the CDT through the Winds last year. It was amazing. Take care!
Hey! What did you guys use to edit this video?! I love it
Thanks! Final Cut Pro
@@wildoutsiders thank you! You guys are such a great inspiration!!
Bit hard for me to tell just because of how much snow there was, how much of the eel glacier do you think is left? I'd love to see it while it's still here...
It still exists but it is small. We may see the Flypaper Pass snow climb cease to exist sooner so you should go sooner than later. ✌️❤️🏔️
@@wildoutsiders Thanks! I'll have to try to get there this summer 😅
I think its neat, the top of Inner Constance can be seen from the trail between Bogachiel Peak and Hoh Lake.
song name please!
I’m lovin your content!! 👏🏼
Thank you so much! Appreciate it!
Hi! I'm looking to do this same thing in 2024. How did you like the 3 day pace? What changes would you make if you were to do it again? Did you think the AT skis were appropriate or would you recommend xc skis?
In my opinion, the three-day pace was just right for what we were trying to accomplish - making a video and taking lots of photos. It was ample time, if not too much time to actually get around the lake. Our first morning didn't start till 10/11am and our final day ended at noon. I think XC skis would be appropriate and definitely the lighter option. We encountered a lot of drifted snow on the second day, and I appreciated my skins for all those pointless ups and downs. If avalanche danger is present you will have to descend and re-climb around the Dutton Cliffs area, depending on how proficient you are on uphill with XC skis this may be a consideration for an AT setup. Good luck! Let me know how it goes! www.thewildoutsiders.com/adventure-journal/crater-lake-ski-circumnavigation
thannks for the thoughtful response@@wildoutsiders
LOVE your videos! How do you like the capture clip? What camera/lens setup are you using? I rock a Sony A7Riiwith a 24-70 2.8 GM and its heeeeeavy, dunno if the cap clip would suffice. You also lugging something heavy? Thanks!
Thank you so much. Love the capture clip! Although after three years of use it has worn out (the camera slides right out - I wear a lanyard now with it) and I'm in need of a new one. I use a Canon R5 with a 24-105 lens. Eight pounds of camera on my shoulder for every hike - likely why the clip has worn out lol. ✌️❤️🏔
Realllly great editing, and fantastic footage of that climb! 🧗❤️❤️ LOVE
Appreciate it! I love reliving the experience in my timeline afterwards, spent a lot of time finessing this one - thanks for noticing! Can't take too much credit for the footage... it's easy when the scenery is so grand. Happy trails!
No shortage of quality on each and every one of your videos, impressive!
Thank you so much! I appreciate your comment!
This was great! Congratulations
Appreciate it pal!
I’d love a sunny day in the mountains right about now!
Heard that! 🥲
Hey, curious the about the guy in the greens glasses
Could you clarify? What would you like to know?
Long ago I hiked to Annette Lake, then up to Abiel via the saddle with Humpback, then over to Silver, and back down to the lake.
Nice job! I've been back that way as well, summiting Silver a second time via a direct line from just below Annette Lake. I know for a fact that you enjoyed some fun off trail travel and adventure on the trip you mention!
One day
I’m gonna hike that one day
You definitely should! McLoughlin is a magnificent mountain and a worthy goal. ✌️❤️🏔️
Subscribed!!! Your channel’s content is amazing.
Thank you so much! Appreciate the compliment more than you know!
What a humbling experience! As always, you've outdone yourselves.
Thank you, thank you! Always appreciate your kind words!
I've been up that road a dozen times and up that trail 5 times and using an electric bike is cheating lol, just kidding. Eastern Olympics is my second home.
Oh it’s cheating that is for sure! But you should know we’ve also done the whole thing on foot before. Ryan and I marched up the Dose to climb Anderson and wisened up to the idea of e-bikes after the fact. No doubt the proper way to experience nature’s glory is at the pace of the backpacker (I’m a triple-crowner, I know this), but we had a mission and part of that mission was showcasing alternative methods to this unique approach. I definitely have not done it 5 times (respect! The Dosewallips is magical and challenging) but I bet if you had the chance to ride as we did this day, you’d also hoot, holler and have a grand ol time with us 😉✌️❤️🏔️ I love that you’re passionate enough to call us out but at the end of the day we are also out there to push ourselves, learn something new and grow… things I know you also seek from the Olympics otherwise why would you care to defend them so wholeheartedly?
Great video. Climbed Connie in the early 70’s. Before the road was closed. Much earlier in the season so the finger section was a dicey snow patch with crampons. We also got to glissade down which was a nice long slide. I’m not sure my 70 y/o legs could do those first 2 miles anymore. Thank you for the memories.
Outstanding videos on this account. Came across in WH&C. Cheers.
Appreciate the kind words! Thank you
