I'm 67 - my uncle was a tanker in WWII, and he would never talk about his experiences until after I was old enough to go out and have a beer or two with him. He eventually opened up and started telling me his story (something he had not spoken about with anybody else in the family, not even his own daughters). Well anyway, over the course of several weeks he told me things I never could have imagined. He, to me, didn't suffer from PTSD but dealt with his WWII experiences in his own way, and came home and got on with his life. He passed away in 1992 and it wasn't until I was sitting in the theater, viewing "Fury", that his stories hit home on me like a punch in the gut. I finally got it. I sat there, nearly dumbfounded, at what I was seeing on the screen in front of me. It was as if the writers of that movie had taken my Uncle's experiences and put them to film. It was after I got a copy of the movie and was able to watch it in my home, that I wept for him, and I still do every time I see that movie.

Probably the best looking tank ever built. We are fortunate that they were rare and unreliable.

Hah! I just came across this video all these years later. I was at that museum at some point for the 75th D-Day commemorations. Might have even been in that crowd but can't see myself. I was really impressed to see the Sherman being flung around at speed like it would have been at the time in 1944. I'd only ever seen WWII tanks trundling along. Was a great experience. I never realised so many WWII vehicles were operational. You couldn't drive a couple of miles without seeing a Willys Jeep!

Yes; s.pz.abt. 503 had 45 with early turret. And Panzer Lehr had five. 1st SS s.pz.abt. 101 got fifteen or so to replenish the battalion in July or August. I think s.pz. abt. 505 was first unit to get on Eastern Front.
