Lisa simpson is the most evil character in TV history
Peace ✌🏼 out..
The most amazing thing about Haynes' movie on Karen Carpenter, it really stays with you, regardless of how many movies you watch a month or year, and I watch a lot of movies.
I think it was a good movie at the right time with the right audiences!! We all quoted this, and/or could recite the entire movie ❤😂
One of the bosses from a previous job is named Napoleon.
Happy 20th anniversary! Those of us in Idaho love Napoleon Dynamite. Vote for Pedro!
I tried to watch this with my family. My mom is a kindergarten teacher who works with a lot of kids at Kevin & Kaylee’s age. The second we heard Kevin’s agonized cries from stabbing himself, she broke down and left. I kinda forgot how sensitive to that she was, especially because we’ve watched The Shining and other great horror films. The fact it got her like that, while most movies put her to sleep, shows how effective the film is. Edit: She didn’t even want to finish it. She asked me (because I watched it first) if it at least had a happy ending. I said no. She said this film was truly cruel and evil.
It was definitely one of the cruelest horror movies I've ever seen. The scene of the blood splattering repeatedly and Kevin asking if he "Could watch something happy for once" were just so sad. The former was one of the hardest hitting scenes I've seen in horror even though so little is shown, but all it implied was so sad and cruel.
I like your sleeves. They're really big.
IN THIS HOUSE...
"moaning lisa" my all time favourite
When Batman looked at the boy, he was experiencing empathy. Empathy isn't confined to offering kindness to another as is suggested for a moment here... it's awareness of another's feelings.... in that moment, Batman struggled with his own feelings knowing what the child is going through. That is empathy. He may not have utilised that feeling to offer kindness or support, but he felt it and shared that moment of recognition. Ultimately hope and despair are on the same spectrum. We may experience both... there is no absolute and no certainty.... and both are possible. Much like happiness and sadness. Life isn't about obtaining one and avoiding the other, if we have any chance of finding a bit of peace in between. Life should be about nurturing hope and connecting to the silence and peace between as best we can.
i love lisa
I just wanted to be like Lisa Simpson and follow the instructions on how to be like her To dress like her and doing her voice impression 1.her white pearl necklace around her neck 2.her red dress but since I won’t buy one I’ll make one myself 3.her white bloomers aka her underwear and panties to cover up her body 4.yellow legging pants for her legs and body 5.her red shoes for her feet 6.her hands yellow gloves 7.yellow body paint for my face to cover it up 8.a yellow jacket for 9.a pair of sunglasses that has her eyes and her face 10.and practicing her voice impression to speak like a girl and become a vegetarian like her
that's cringe, bro. get you own life, instead of turning yourself into a clone of a cartoon character
I always loved the use of Ken and Barbie Dolls as a way of patraying the fake plastic world she lived in
Hated this film when it was released as an 18 year old, but recently decided to give it another crack as a 38 year old with my daughters. Absolutely brilliant film that had us laughing so much. Simple with wholesome themes of friendship and growing up with a strangely nostalgic soundtrack.
I was genuinely scared of this movie. Like what you explained, I felt like I was just as helpless as the kids, I felt like a child, I didn’t know what was about to happen and I couldn’t do anything about it. When I first watched it I tried watching it with my dad but he walked out 5 minutes into the movie saying “it’s boring”. I understand, but that really frustrated me with how quickly he walked out.
6:56 Made up mythical creatures like "ligers"
I replied to a different comment about this but I did in fact go my entire life until like 8 months ago believing that ligers were fake creatures. I hope everyone continues shaming me!
i was a huge batman fan during the release of the movie, but i didnt watch it, during the wave of The Batman, Something in the way was used a lot in the batman edit videos and i saw them a lot, and i took a liking to something in the way, and then a year later, i was immersed in nirvana, knowing their discography and so on, then i decided to watch the batman because it finally was released on netflix, it was such an expensive dinner, watching and hearing something that pleases me really well.
Rome wasnt a suicide attempt.. Kurt Cobain was murdered. #JusticeforKurt #burntheliars
I just want to go back in time and enjoy this for the first time again
Amazing video! I was hooked and thanks for the new album I'm about to obbsess OVER!! <3
why is this somewhat scary but also comforting
Gyatt
Many semi-autistic characters here. The fact that they aren't really trying to be anything other than who they are is endearing. They are all innocents, even Rico. It's an implied criticism of phony coolness, and that kind of "growing up" that actually means becoming a big, convincing phony.
Good evening.
Good morning.
Amazing video, bro, what mic do u use?
Thanks for checking out the video! I use a Blue Yeti X to record and I use Audacity to edit my audio!
How can anyone hate Lisa. I always loved her and i still love her
because she became a political mouthpiece for the writers. Early Lisa was way more nuanced than modern one.
When you realize the skinamarink demon is made of the same evil than the hotel in Shinning
Great video! This movie came out the year I got married. Twenty years later my husband and I still quote it and have seen it I don't know how many times. I can never make quesadillas without yelling "dang QuesaDILLas" . 😂My parents, on the other hand, saw it once and couldn't understand why we love it so much. Maybe it's a generation thing. My mom said "I don't understand why he always looks like he's falling asleep standing up!" 😂
This movie is genius, that is all!!
I think it hits even harder when you realize that kurt cobain was very likely mrdered .
Someone wrote an incredible review on Letterboxd and all I can think about is that--personally, in my opinion-- it gives off not just the eeriness of being a child and being afraid of the dark - but also within the first five minutes, the sense of dread that gave off the feeling of childhood abuse. It was so familiar, and dragged me back to those memories, and I haven't watched the movie for longer than five minutes since I first tried...
Wonderful, measured essay! Thank you! I’m a huge fan of Karen and have always been impressed by Todd Haynes’ work here, as eerie as it comes off. I do think he meant this as a thoughtful homage as well as a commentary on the many struggles Karen suffered.
Amazing video about the Caped Crusader and Kurt Cobain. Whenever I hear 'Something in the Way', I somehow imagine an animated music video in the style of the 90's Batman cartoon that Kurt Cobain plays his song in the Batcave and the video ends with Bruce Wayne and Alfred watching Kurt's performance. Then, decades later, Bruce, with Terry and Ace from Batman Beyond, goes to Kurt Cobain's memorial park in Aberdeen,WA, as Warner Bros's and DC's tribute to the tragic, but beloved iconic singer of Nirvana. Who knows if WB and DC did that.
I would love to see Johnny do this with dragon ball super
As a huge Batman AND Nirvana fan, this movie was tailor made for me.
As a fan of horror for years, especially thoughtful, slow burn horror, I can't believe how bored I was by this film. The trailer was fantastic, the look and feel of it is excellent, but I just didn't enjoy it at all. It's right up my alley, but man I was bored the whole time. That being said, this video was fascinating, and your take on all this made me rethink a lot of this film. You may not see this comment a full year after this video was made, but I hope that you do, because you managed to pull off something incredible - you made something excellent out of something I found terrible. Great job, seriously great work
One thing I love about this movie is that even though its in a small rural idaho town its still relatable to people around the world a lot like how The Breakfast Club is still relatable to kids today. Its essentially timeless
Ha ha I was just taking a drink at the end when ypu all of a sudden showed Napoleon taking a drink lol
Haha that’s awesome! We are all about perfect timing on this channel!
I've seen some videos of his but never knew that there is a whole pop opera, exactly what I'm interested in. Thanks, I'll check it out 💙
No problem! It was actually the first thing I ever saw from him after my fiancée kept playing the coffee song lol.
Batman was created 20 years before Kurt was born? How does this work?
This video is specifically about the 2021 Batman movie. Not about the character as a whole 🙂
Something in the way is about him Kurt
Just a random thought I had seeing some of the cutting room floor footage from Unplugged; they could've released an entire double album with the songs that were cut from the television performance. I think I speak for all Nirvana fans when I ask....why didn't they do that!? They could've released the Unplugged album as is,and then released the full concert in a "double live" format a few years later, even. Have you heard what was cut!? It's really good! Especially their acoustic version of Lounge Act. What the hell,DGC!?
Imagine being a regular human, creating something that resonated with some people, dying, and then having your legacy forever portrayed thru the prism of whatever the fans wanted you to be. Look at how many people refer to him by his first name, as if they knew him, and attributing his words to their own lives. It's like his legacy is cemented in the very thing he didn't seem to like in the first place. The bitter irony.
Such a good movie and such a good band
Such a good movie and such a good band
as a schizophrenic, this film feels like… the essence of it in a film. it’s the feeling of ‘did i see something?’ ‘what did i just hear?’ ‘was that something?’ ‘is that real or not?’ and while it certainly hasn’t helped my hallucinations (keep seeing fisher price phones), it is a very good film!! very evocative!!
Interesting! I never thought about viewing the movie on that level and it does make sense. I actually just looked it up and it turns out the director has Schizophrenia as well so that adds another layer to the movie to keep in mind when I watch it again! Sorry the damn Fisher Price phone keeps making an appearance for you though.
@@StaticWonderland oh wow i didn’t know that about the director!! now i’m validated in how i feel WOO
Wonderful video!
Thank you very much!
