I Spent $350 All on LOW END SPORTS CARDS!
I recently went to a local card show to buy inventory for my eBay Store. When I source for cards, I usually buy enough to meet my listing goals for the week (at the time of this video, I am currently listing 30 cards a day). The main reason why I do this is so that I do not overspend or over buy. This allows me to continue to save money and at the same time grow my store. I usually only spend what I need and that helps me expand my business.
Today, I spent $350 all on low end sports cards and came away with 478 cards. Now, how much I buy and spend also depends on what the next few weeks look like for me and my family as I do not always have the time to go to shows every week.
In the low end card selling space, it's all about volume: volume selling and bulk buying. However, I try my best not to overspend and only use what I need. The beauty of low end sports cards is that they are always there!

I am a low end card seller. I've been doing it part time for 2 years now as a side hustle to help generate a little extra income on the side. I've been selling low end sports cards part time for almost 2 years and I love what I do. Sure the profits are small from card to card, but I do believe that one can be successful in this space. Selling low end sports cards is a grind. There is no way around it. In order to truly be successful in this space, you will need to sell in volume. However, it does take a lot of time and if you don't have a strong foundation it can be easy to give up or get down on yourself. The one thing that I focused on when I started selling low end sports cards was this: Consistency. Because selling low e...

As a low end sports card seller, one of the most important aspects is selling in volume. Since the profit margins are so small, it's important to sell more - it all adds up at the end. Good video but I use card savers instead of top loaders. Pre-ESE I would use a Butterfly stamp with a Top Loader but my post says that top loaders make them non-machinable. Also suggest not centering single cards, put them slightly off to ones side or the other, Credit Cards companies have been doing that for years.

  • @brianc9036
    @brianc9036 Před 10 dny

    I will never understand the thermal printing obsession. Especially for ESE, when I print directly onto the #10 PWE I have zero problems with scans and updates. Putting the peel and stick labels on there is when the tracking gets spotty and more likely to draw attention for non-machinable.

    The median US household income is about $75,000. If the profits in this video are a good representation of average - you'd need to pull in $500,000 gross sales to just be an average earner working for yourself. If you sell low end cards consistently between $2 and $3 on average, you need to sell about 175,000 of them per year to do this, or on average, 475-500 cards per day. The financial metrics lesson here is the small time hobby guy is NOT doing this as a side hustle. This is a hobby to get some money back. Financially, this makes no business sense. The only way to grow and sustain on eBay without needing a bunch of employees is to sell more valuable items. Otherwise, to turn volume for profit, you need a much bigger operation, and a few employees.

    Is there a reason you don’t use a scanner? I know they aren’t always perfect especially with chrome cards but taking pictures of 20-30 $2-4 cards a day is major time consuming.

    From a seasoned card investor. Save your money up, and go big on a few cards rather than buying a bunch of low value cards. Get a 1986 Michael Jordan Fleer rookie card PSA 1 or 2. Vintage basketball holds it's value far better than modern IMO.

    How is it profitable selling cards for two or three dollars with free shipping? What are your shipping costs on these cards?

  • @joshkirsch5970
    @joshkirsch5970 Před měsícem

    I’m with you on low end flips. I’ve transitioned to this and done very well. That said, how are being profitable with $1.25 sales? The .30 cent final value fee is a killer on low end sales. I figure on a $1.25 sale you’re at .78 cents after the FVF and selling fees. Then it’s .64 cents to ship leaving you with .14 cents. This isn’t factoring in supplies cost (envelopes, sleeves, tape, etc), your time or the original cost of the card. I don’t put anything up less than $3 as there is just zero margin. Do you have a store type that are mitigating some of these fees?

I try to put sets together. I live in an apartment and I don't want to keep unused base cards piled up, selling them one by one. I'd like to throw them into lots and sell them that way. Any insight into how well base cards can sell in little 20-30 packs/lots? I guess I could list as "set builder" or something. Thanks!
