Len Barry would have died for this backing track Dora was born in 1900 and was a music hall star (of sorts) in the 1920's before marrying a multi-millionaire. She settled down, started a family & the like .. BUT by the early 60's, she was wanting to make a comeback and so started cutting 'vanity recordings'. Her hubby, via his company (Solo Cups), sponsored TV shows that starred her and added f...

The first record is was and always will be flowers in the rain. If you want to be stupidly pedantic then you can not choose Johnny Dankworth. See my previous post , George Martin and Theme One. But be honest we all know it was The Move. Why do we all fall for this? This is obviously designed to outrage and provoke a response. I've now fallen for it twice. Please stop responding. First record played on Radio 1 was Flowers in the rain by The Move. First song on Top of the Pops was Dusty Springfield and I only want to be with you. Ignore this and get on with your life.
Hey up a good video thank you
My Childhood it was great
Why not! Yes!!!
❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🇨🇦
Every morning at 9am on Radio London Big L with TW. Wonderful times. Radio as it should be.
RIP. One of the 45s my parents had when I was little.
Loved the Ms bit Try it without moving lips 🙏🤔😲
Loved it back then ,all brilliant and charismatic presenters xx
Love The Joy strings
We had nothing comparable in Germany back then. Consider yourself very lucky, fellow old guys from UK.
Did Noakes climb that 120 ft mast without a safety harness? Incredible guy! Sadly missed.
Didn't realise that Slade was a cover version.
Should have said "The first music played".
How to murder a track!!😂 An insult to Little Anthony & the imperials!
La Voce di Super Mario è qui nel mio cuore.
John Noakes had balls of steel! 😳
Fabulous, heard this out a few times recently, last night at the Shirt in Radcliffe played by Dave Cartlidge. Seems hard to find though.
Not Northern thou
❤🇹🇭nice🎉🎉😊
Many times ❤
Used to work there in the mid 90s
Wonderful
I fell in love with skydiving after having watched John Noakes skydive. So as soon I had finished my O-levels ( and still under-aged) I went skydiving. I completed 43 descents before I had to concentrate on my A-levels. This is the first time I've seen this video clip. I'm 56 now.
Brilliant.
At the sign of the swinging cymbal, was the first record played on radio 1
I have a record too. Love Janet xx
Did you know there's another song called I want an elegant for Christmas.
Fuck yeah !!!
Christmas Eve of 2018 or 2019, Elvis Duran played this on his show and my dad and I were running errands. We were laughing our asses off.
December 2023... and I'm still laughing at this!!
I was a bandie, this was what I had for my dear wife’s funeral, my son played cornet in the band that day with all the rest of the players. It’s what I want when I go. The tempo make it here. The Sallies play it at this tempo too.
The writer of this beautiful song and Joystrings member Major Joy Webb died in October this year aged 91. In Salvation Army terms she has been promoted to Glory.
49:06 Oh wow check out Lesley Judd’s panties 👍👍😜😳😂
I wonder if anyone has any footage of the Mersey Rail tunnels under the River Mersey? Apparently Peter went down into the tunnels and ventilation and drainage tunnels.
So good .
I get the point but this is silly. I clearly remember the day Radio 1 started . This supposed first record ever played was clearly a jingle, even to a 12 year old
I want a angel tree topper that sings this song. Gemmy (makers of Billy bass) make it happen please
What programme was this taken from?
Ah my childhood, Christmas had true meaning then. i grew up with rock but i never forget these songs.
it's called: "Baby goes a walkin' on the moon" by Jeri Jorden on Fox records..
Wes got are first snow and had to play this song 😂😂😂😂
Simpler life then
This band knocked the socks off the Black Dyke Mills Band and others of more recent times.
I have this tune Forsale
Have still got a copy for sale
Ein ur Rock n Roll.sehr gut.
I find this programming, from the vantage of 2023, absolutely spectacular, so engaging. What must it have been like for children of the 60s 70s?!!! Live people doing real things. How pathetic does the culture and media of today appear in contrast. 😢😢 Western Civ has lost so much.
What a talent Mr G Johnson was went on to create Chairman of the Board then created some amazing Modern Soul which the Northern/Modern soul scene played RIP
Great video, but really annoying to watch the original electric buses and they ripped them out without care, better than these so called recent battery buses. If you want to see old trolleybuses running again,.then visit the sandtoft museum just outside Doncaster, great day out.
I find myself in the 1920s while returning from the street...
