@@keithhowell4138 these stunners are all destined for the fishing lake. When released in about a year we'll continue to hand feed them in the same place each day. They're so timid it's unreal.

There's three doelings that sometimes get me mixed up. Spring, Dollar and DJ are the same size and colouration. Fortunately, Dollar's horns are spiral, DJ's are curly and Sprite's are normal!

We rarely eat them. All the boys are sold off once they reach a maximum of 20kg. The only time we do eat one is if there's been an accident and the injury is too severe. Other than that we did eat some when the herd numbers were too high because the Thailand goat market had stagnated. Amazing tasting meat.

I could easily lose several hours a day staying with the herd just watching and chatting to them. Years ago, before we fenced the whole farm, I used to be out with them twice a day for 2 hours at a time. I absolutely loved it, but we're way too busy now to do that.

Thanks Geno. The island will be the last part of the farm to develop and then green-up. Hard to believe that seven years ago the whole land was exposed soil (if you could call it soil!) Fingers crossed that you can get to visit us some time in the future. You'd be welcome to explore the farm & cast a line where ever you want.

The cement is mixed with fine sand and then buffed repeatedly during drying until the surface becomes shiny & waterproof. Works a treat!

Just the Malaysian walking catfish, frisky buggers. Did you see our short video where Toon hand fed the tails? It's my favorite part of the day!

Any way you can get the eggs out into a tub or lake with very little in it to give you a good chance of a better success rate? I didnt see the video of Toon feeding the tails, will try and find it. @@Fishing_in_Thailand we let the other lake's inhabitants munch on the eggs & fry because there's about 30-40 in there, which is enough. They're not one of my favorite species but there's a fair few over 15lbs & they're great fun on the Pellet Waggler. Siamese are over 3lbs now in a stock pond. Gonna leave them to about 15lbs so they're safe from the Chaos & Giant Snakeheads (which have began breeding again but the Hampalas smash their fry to bits!) The Toon hand feeding the Redtails was two videos published before this one. I think it's called "Hand feeding Red Tail Catfish by hand." 🤣🤣🤣

I think they will hit the ground running this year. Brilliant on the Siamese, I was thinking with the walking catfish being so sought after by the locals for food, rearing them to around 1.1.5kg in numbers you might be able to sell them for food if you had a wee lake just for them to thrive. Im hoping to get involved in a small lake here in Pattaya, will be a waggler, cage and pole lake with fish to 2kg, fingers crossed vibes!!

@@Fishing_in_Thailand chuffed to hear that mate. I've always thought that's what you should do. Brilliant news. If we were near you we'd be buying some puller kits & nagging you to run a match club! It's easy to see that loads of expats are bored of catching 100lbs Mekongs & Siamese. I shit you not, I'd choose catching a 10lb Black Shark Minnow on the float rather than any size Arapaima. I really miss fishing with a bit of finesse. Top Secret Heads-Up for you....we're just putting the finishing touches to a swanky lakeside fishing lodge. We've built it in the Glory Hole swim. Patio doors open right onto the swim. Toon & I will be moving in when we don't have any Farmstay guests & anglers booked in!

Thanks mate. Yeah it's taken time to really get going, mainly to do with having to let the herd out on pasture areas more than we'd have liked. Luckily, soon as the herd leave an area after giving it a good haircut, it improves massively. Still got a lot of areas that are chopped n dropped after cutting the Napier grass. The Moringas are doing great to & we've managed to get all of the goats to eat it 💪

It's tricky sorting out the bigger Pacu because they're so flipping greedy. I've had some of my biggest take fish pellets that we feed our tilapia with. Might be worth trying a small fish on a single large hook. We've had quite a few on that when trying for snakeheads.

We stocked both of them into the lake. Unfortunately, one got killed by something! Luckily, we still have the other one in there & it's easily big enough to take care of itself now. Super easy to spot when it comes up for air for chases a Java barb near the surface.

To date, I think we've managed to publish videos featuring pythons, monitor lizards, scorpions & wasps lol. It certainly is a good life in our opinion. Lots of setbacks & hardship, but the numerous highs are certainly worth it. It's currently the rainy season so the lake always carries more colour. 1K for a pound???

@@ToonLeighporpeangfarmThailand I can handle lizards & normal wasps. Demon spawn like giant spiders, scorpians or big snakes inside or in my garden while Im working, not so keen. I meant to say pond/lake, can you duck shoot on your land? From memory you said it cost $1,000 USD

No need (for now). We've purposefully not heavily stocked the lake & have a good head of various predators to help control breeding. Fresh water coming in through the sides & up from underneath all year helps to. As far as future stock goes, we're planning on introducing our 40 Siamese & Redtails in about a year & various smaller species to keep the predators fed (if required.)

As long as it doesn't fall off, it's my favorite finger!

It sure is mate. Apart from the mozzies, it's a joy to see all the rapid growth of vegetation. We'll soon be planting up LH2.0 😉

Ours shut down for about 2-4 weeks per year. They don't eat, molt or move much but they're fine. You can top up the water level in the tanks which may help or if you're still concerned just add a small water heater.

Definitely. We started with about ten young adults, then scaled up.

You're looking at around a year for them to reach 100g.

@@user-tg6nm2tm1h it is indeed. I think that's why all the suppliers we've seen harvest their crayfish at quite a small size (60-100g.) We like to give them a bit longer so they're perfect for the BBQ!

I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised with their taste.

We love wild honey! I have looked into it quite a bit Gary. Thing is beekeeping is done quite differently out here and there's no one near enough to us to learn from.

@@johnlemuelenverga7084 doing very well thanks John. We recently stocked another 1000 or so juveniles into the grow out pond and we have 10 females currently hatching their broods.

They are but striped Catfish (same family) are more popular amongst locals. Pacu are ok but tilapia are better IMO & snakeheads are by far the best.

Thank you Marietta. It was a tough couple of months when Toon was bedridden. The farm isn't the same being on your own. We count our lucky stars that she's now back on her feet and working her way back to full fitness.
