Buoyage system 'B' - from seaward and entering / going upbound (against the river flow) a river: remember the "3 R's" - "red-right-returning" (keep the red buoys on your vessel's own starboard (right) side. Conversely, leaving a port on a river and heading downbound (ie. with the current), the green buoys wil now be on your starboard side.

refering to the tug lights (starting at 03:22): ColRegs rule 24 states tugs using 2 (or 3 if more than 200m) toplights "instead" of toplights (as per rule 23 a 1 and 2, which refers to the normal one (or two) toplights). I am now confused as of these tugs using the (tug-)toplights (2 or 3) AND toplight for indicating the tugs length (1 or 2 if longer than 50m). Thanks for enlighting me.

3 forward masthead lights can easily be confused or miss construed against 2 forward mastheadlights and an after masthead light. However, in any case, it would most likely be prudent to keep well clear.

Good explanation and useful knots. I tie my bowline using a slip knot once someone taught me how to do that. Much easier to remember than the rabbit/snake bit. Make a loose slip knot where you want the knot to be and then run the free end through the slip loop and bring it tight as if you were going to undo the slip knot. It pulls the loose end through and you have a bowline.
