Your Hummer H3 MPG might be better than you think!
Your Hummer H3 MPG might be better than you think, especially if you have oversized tires! In this video, I outline how calculated fuel efficiency can be inaccurate, especially if the speedometer is not calibrated for larger tire sizes. I also talk about how I use HP Tuners to calibrate my speedometer and odometer to ensure an accurate calculation for miles per gallon.

@@H3Humper You are most welcome.
What type of fan was installed? Does it belong to another car?
I have a Hummer and I would like to do the same thing. Please send me the details if possible😊
Hello! I used a 2-speed electric fan from a 90's Taurus (single fan-type), a 2-speed fan controller from a Volvo, and a 2-speed thermoswitch from a BMW. All of those parts I got from a junkyard and then I bought a coolant hose coupler to install the thermoswitch into.
Everytime I have a problem with my hummer I come to your videos lol😂 question 🙋🏻♂️ how many quarts does the cooling system take? I always seem to second guess everything and I’d rather ask someone who knows lol
Hey Oscar! Happy to know you keep finding yourself watching my videos. To answer your question and provide some additional helpful info, check out the "Maintenance & Lubrication" manual on my website: h3humper.wordpress.com/hummer-h3-repair-manual/ In the manual, it shows the approximate amount of coolant you can plan for (first thing listed in the Maintenance & Lubrication manual). Usually there is a bit trapped in the system, so I usually end up with a little coolant leftover. If you have trouble finding it, let me know!
I have the exact same problem with my '06 with the original engine. I assume the sensor can go bad? Is it easily accessible? Excellent video!
Dang! It is a strange problem. I would suggest visually inspecting your current sensor, and yes, it is pretty accessible. I believe only the intake baffling (big black box on top of engine) needs to be removed to access it. The belt might have to come off, too. Let me know if it looks damaged, loose, or anything suspicious. If there is an obvious issue with the sensor, replacing it would make the most sense. I believe there is a way to test it, but I don't know the method. Has your H3 always had the issue since you've owned it? If you are unsure if the cam sensor has been replaced, it might be worth just having a "CASE relearn" procedure done on it (can be done with HPTuners or an Autel, I think). Most shops should be able to do it, too. Make sure the CEL isn't on and any codes are cleared before the relearn procedure. Also, some places describe a relearn without a tool, but I believe a tool is required for our H3's. Let me know when you get eyes on your sensor!
@@H3Humper I've owned the H3 for 8 years and I know that the first owner was an elderly lady (believe it or not) so I doubt there's been an engine change. I will inspect the sensor connection and let you know. This problem developed within the last few years. By the way, I use my red H3 to transport Marines from the 29 Palms MCAGCC Base to the airport for a local charity, so I need it to run flawlessly. Thanks for your great videos!
what about if the fuel pressure is too high
What is yours at? The device used to control fuel pressure my be faulty. I believe the fuel pump assent has a sensor on the top. The electrical connector could be cleaner and reconnected to see if it is a bad connection at the connector.
Super merci beaucoup - je vais bientot devoir faire cette operation car j'ai une defaut P0304 ! les bobines et bougies ont été changees - reste les INJECTEURS -
Hi .. the sensor you replaced in this video is an oem sensor or aftermarket? I need to buy one too.. just wondering if your is an aftermarket ( it cost less ) lol
Hello again! I think I bought used OEM sensors but the old ones were aftermarket, and I think they worked fine, as well.
Having a difficult time putting the ribbon into the connector. Any tips? Thank you for this video

I have a Hummer 2008 and didnt get to find my rear sun roof drains. i actually broke my sunroof thinking i had rear sunroof drains and use my rails to slide son uncloguing fluid and rusted my rails.
Oh no! I'm sorry your sunroof is broken now. It won't open because of the rust?
Thanks for the video.. I will be getting this filter today :) ... Do you still have your hummer? You haven't upload anything lately. Hope you ok!
My pleasure! 🙏 the round filter was a bit of a hassle to wrestle on their haha. Hopefully yours goes on smoothly. I sold my H3 but do still have several H3 videos to edit. I've been working on some other life projects and such, which has taken up time. I recently bought a Suburban for the increase in cargo space and I actually get better fuel economy with it. I'll likely be posting some overlanding or repair videos of that in the future.
What year is your hummer? I have a 2007
The one I have in the videos is a 2006.
Really hope this helps me. I got the P0068 code MAP/MAF Throtle position correlation
Let me know if it resolved your issue!
It didn't work for me, gonna change throttle body now, hope that fixes it. Thanks for tip mate!.
Car got some water inside a few weeks ago, had the drains clogged. I wonder if that's what's giving me all this headache.
I realised that it goes into limp mode only when using cruise control. So I will have to figure out why!.
Sounds like it could be an electrical short somewhere. Have you resolved the issue or identified the cause yet?
Thanks for making me laugh 😁
My pleasure haha 😄
Just tried this on mine and it came out super good. It was honestly wayyyyy easier then I thought.
It really stinks going so long thinking, "dang... I need to buy a new seat," and then realizing swapping the cover is only an hour long project.
I used the launch elite pro 2 and couldn't get it to work, kept saying "condition not satisfied"... finally figured out that I had to actually floor the accelerator all the way down. It worked on the first try.
I'm happy you got it figured out! Putting it all the way to the floor is such an uncomfortable thing to do haha.
You must have tiny hands and arms.. I opened up the passenger side panel to access the drain tube/fitting and there's NO way I can reach in there?
I believe I went through the bottom with the glove box removed. I used the side panel to view the plug while reaching in from underneath. I had to use a single pinky to get the nipple back into the firewall. That side is tough. I'm over six foot tall, so I definitely have some pretty long hands and fingers.
I replaced mine but I think the new oring i put on the reservoir isn't a good one cuz im still seeing a leak from the bottom of it. It maybe shot so might go with the canyon one with reservoir attached. Great video though thanks for the info. I know its an old post but glad I came accross it.
Still having a leak really stinks, especially after replacing the o-ring. I broke mine off and luckily still found a whole assembly in stock at the time. The H3's are going obsolete with the declining parts availability. They'll be collector's soon haha.
No joke. Along with my 01 Tahoe that I still drive I don't think I'll let go of them anytime soon. From what I saw in the description the Colorado assembly is compatible correct just as long as I get the pulley with it as well?
@georgecobos8655 yes, to my understanding the pulley is the only additional thing needed to make it work on the H3's. Let me know if it works for you and if there is anymore relevant information to add to the description.
Will do. Thank you for the info
Y is it so hard to get the gas line back in.
Maybe try applying some thin lubricant to it and see if that helps. Maybe a little bit of petroleum jelly or something?
Thank you so much!!!
My pleasure! 🙏
Have you come across code p1516? I just got it on my 06 h3
Hey there, I have not experienced the P1516 code before. Have you figured out the issue yet?
What size of tired are you used on hummer h3?
Hello Alex, I used 315/75R17's on mine.
I just wanna ask, what is happening on my h3 when I accelerate, it causes to be so bumpy.
Hey Jack, I need a lot more details to help out. What engine, how many miles, what are the very specific symptoms, etc.?
Omg, after my 2nd engine replacement I got it back with an 1/8th turn off steering wheel and just don't want to deal with them. If this works you are awesome my friend.
That'd be frustrating to have replaced the engine twice already. Have you tried correcting the alignment yet? Any success?
do i need the synthetic dye or no?
I didn't use the dye for synthetics, but I read in my product listing to use Ritz synthetic dye if the item has more than 40% polyester.
@@H3Humper mine had no tag, 100% goggle strap… worked out following your video… filmed how i did it might upload
Thank you very much for your tutorial
You're very welcome!
How did you use box end wrench to remove the seal??
I put one end inside and behind the seal and used leverage to pop the seal out of the housing. Were you able to get yours out?
@@H3Humper Yes, I bought a seal puller tool, one that has two hooks on the end. Worked perfect. Thx!
Have you come across code p0017. It’s causing me lots of problems 😢
I have an air leak through the air resonator box (part 10397251). I am thinking of replacing the resonator box with a pipe based on your experience. How will this affect the operation of the secondary air pump? Are there any nuances?
Darn air leaks! I'm glad you found what was causing yours. Just to double check, was your PCV hose on the bottom passenger side of the resonator box properly connected to the PCV nipple on the top of the valve cover? If that hose is missing or disconnected, that could also be causing your issue, I'd imagine. The PCV hose must be connected to the intake pipe in order to maintain the PCV system, otherwise there will likely once again be a lean condition.
Awesome, this was so helpful!
I'm happy to know the process in the video was helpful for you. There aren't many videos on this stuff. 😳
I just did it! I didn’t have a hot wire saw so I did the best I could with some scissors 😅 thanks for your video. Hoping it works!

Hi from Ottawa Canada. So how has this bumper refresh held up? I want to do the exact same to my 2008 alpha and I’m wondering how resilient the rust oleum bumper paint is.. thanks for these great videos
Hey John! The paint held up pretty well, though I do not wash my vehicles very often. I really enjoy the appearance of the trim and bumper paint. I imagine if a person really wanted to get thorough, getting deeper into prep work would yield much better results. Sanding, priming, painting, and applying clear coat would likely be the best. The Rustoleum bumper and trim paint is quick and cheap, which is valuable in its own ways. Let me know what you end up going with! You're welcome on the videos, and its my pleasure. I appreciate your words!

First you adjust the parking brake shoes.
Good to know. Thank you!
so my hummer on the drivers side has my airbag right there on the panel. i do not want to break anything, do you have a solution for that?
The panel should be similar with an airbag. I have another GM with side curtain airbags in the A-pillar and was able to remove the plastic trim without issue on that one, too. GM doesn't have a good track record with sunroof drains haha.
Is the Evap CANISTER PURGE VALVE replaced by removing the drivers side front tire and inner wheel well? My 2006 H3 has the Vortec 3.5 L. motor.
Hey Bill, I do not know about the location of the canister purge valve. I do have quite a few manuals on my website, which might be of assistance to you. h3humper.wordpress.com/hummer-h3-repair-manual/
Do you have a video showing how to replace the Evap CANISTER PURGE VALVE? I think its under that sturdy black plastic housing the dipstick support brackets bolt through. Mine is a 2006 H3 3.5 L.
I do not have a video showing the part you're interested in, but here's a bunch of manuals where you might be able to find more info on it. Let me know if you figure it out! h3humper.wordpress.com/hummer-h3-repair-manual/
I have a no crank no start issue. The gear selector indicators on the dash do not light up and can not release shifter from park the button is locked. Any ideas where to look? I was told if the gear indicator on dash does not light it will not release the shifter.
I would suggest looking into the "GM Passlock Issue" on the H3 forums. It is a very common issue. Is the security light on your instrument cluster flashing or illuminated? Sometimes turning the key to "on" and waiting 10 minutes will allow the vehicle to bypass the security system and start. I have a video showing how to disable Passlock permanently using HPTuners: czcams.com/video/n-mDCOcQNHQ/video.html
Good video however would be helpful when you do these to mention what size sockets you need for each bolt set please. Thank you
I do my best to include the additional info when I remember to. Feel free to jot them down as you go and I can add them to the description for other people.
My brother swapped his h3 with 4 cylinders turbos charged engine.
Heck yeah! I've actually had that as an item on my list I am interested in doing. Is it a 4 cylinder from the GM Colorado/Canyon? Do you have a link to his build?
Just did what you said on my F150 . Steering was crooked to the right . Took 2 tie rods full turns on each sides to make it boom center ! I m pretty happy , nice tutorials thank you !

I LOVE YOU MAN. i’m 19 and i got my hummer when i was 14 and i’ve been having this issue so much and decided to take matters into my own hands. super super easy so thank you so much
I appreciate your words! Getting your Hummer at 14 years old is awesome! I'm happy you were able to get your drain issue sorted out. The smell gets so much better inside after it dries out haha
