Nice build 🙂 What type of manual gearbox did You use? Greetings from Germany
Hi Maxi, what engine mounts and engine arms did you use for tge install of the OM606? Thanks
What a beaut
will this car ever be for sale?
What a beautiful looking thing that is mate well done .
what set up this is running?
8.00 mm and HX40. Lots of other things too, have a look at my overview video 👍
@@maximilianboost8498 very very impressed , who fabricated your intercooler and boost pipes also exhaust and inlet manifold DPUK it’s out of my budget
The reflector could be re-mirrored by the company Refoptik
Lovely bike! I have a yellow 600ss. Starter cables are the next upgrade aside the carbon can and double bubble tinted visor ive fitted.
What manual trans do you have there?
Its a SLK 230 6 speed, however the one you want to get is the 716.657 with the sprung loaded reverse.
great job) wonderful w124
Nice one (I'd imagine Heidi's wondering why on earth her old man's talking to himself again!)
are you willing to sell?
1989 300ce coupe has same issue hope set up us same
Worthless.
Is that oil safe for a non turbo diesel engine 🙄 thanks
Hi Jack. I've a 0M603 1992 300d. Is it safe to add 0.3l of 2 stroke oil to 70l of diesel 🙄 thanks
yes
@@maximilianboost8498I'm sorry Maximilian. This message was meant to be for someone else. Sorry and thanks for your reply 👏
This is an awesome car. Original look, pure classic, a grandpa's dream car. But when you've pressed that pedal 👏👌
Hey mate did you do anything internally to the motor? Cheers
I pinned the cam wheel - that’s it. 😬
Jesus leave the kid alone
Wow
Is this the same for a 1993?
I suspect the later ones had a fan at both ends of the motor - so will be slightly different. Good luck!
Hi Max! Your video has put a huge smile on my face, i just bought an om606 and am planning tu put an hx40 on it with a 350z manual, my only question for you is what differential are you using? The stock 124?
If you are putting a big pump, big turbo 606 into a W124 then i would highly recommend putting a strong auto in it. I'm doing that this winter and I'll make some vids to show the progress/review. Diff wise you need a 210mm diff from the bigger petrol cars - the 606 will destroy the 185mm ones - i went through 2 mint ones. They were turned to scrap 🙂
I have a W210 OM606 with some body rust here and there. I’ve been looking for a donor car for the engine. But I’m on the fence as to what to do. I don’t mind a project but worry to do the install into a W124 may be a bit overwhelming. Any install conversion insights?
Have a look on the retro rides forum - maxypriest w124 superturbodiesel. Most of the stuff is on there, some of it is involving. It’s was expensive to do and if you’re going big turbo - it has to be automatic. 👍
Hello Max, just found your Merc/channell here in Australia and hope the W124 is still going strong. Love a good sleeper and like the closing shot of car+tent for this video:) Cheers.
Excellent with showing us nothing....👍👍
I don't know a better sleeper or daily driver or any car in general then this, literally nothing else, name something better I'll wait, this wins in all the categories, you get all that power and speed, super good mpg for something with that much power, it's very very comfortable, very soft, handles well, super fun to drive, lots of space, you can road trip in it with your whole family no problem, its super reliable, doesn't get loads of attention but looks amazing and at the same time it looks like an absolute normal car and it's very reliable and heck! it's faster then most supercars!!! I don't know a better car then this in the history of cars, this is the best thing ever!!! Dream, on day I'll have one like this and build it very similar to this.🤩❤️
Wow. Thank you! It’s is great, and this winter is the going to get better, the Achilles heal was the transmission, and this winter I’m fitting a new gearbox, most likely with manual flappy paddles. Discreetly too. I already have a new fuel pump ready with 8.5mm elements and a few other goodies (screamer pipe) that should improve drivability and potentially it’s performance too. Keep an eye on my channel - all winter jobs 👍😊
Hi, nice vid. Im actually looking for side mirror rubber/gasket rhd. Have you ever bought these?
👍
Hi Max, great car. Nice OEM look about the whole package. Have you still got the car?
still got it - some changes coming this winter
Sweet.
fantastic video and really helpful.. so, here the question. what will be the budget for such modifications? cheers
Nice car! Many people complain of the lack of shifting smoothness of the 716.6xx. Whats your take on it after all these years? Do you have the facelift transmission with just the shifting rod (without bowden cable) or do you have the older version? Thx Marlon
Morning Marlon. The 716 i have is a SLK one - thats the one with the cable. I don't use the cable, made a custom shifter and reverse lockout. Its a little sloppy, not bad however the main gripe is that its rattles a bit, and that's VERY annoying. I do have a later box (.654 from memory) which has the internal indent for reverse like BMW's and has stronger springs so is less prone to rattling - i might fit this in the summer as the SLK box is beginning to show signs its nearly dead. The later box apparently is MUCH stronger - time will tell.
...however i will add that the best transmissions for big turbo 606's that i have driven are - modified autos. Someone is developing a manual valve body for the 722.6 - if this appears i'll swap over to that.
@@maximilianboost8498 Thank you! Yeah, a manual shifting of a 722.6 would be cool. I hate CANBUS-Systems! I don't upgrade my car to a mechanical pump to deal with an electronic transmission....
@@V8freaks I’ve never been in / driven a 722.6 with a stand-alone controller that was any good 🤷
Great demo, ive never noticed the glow plug effect on how well it runs. Id have guessed the glow plug load would really work the alternator but if its how merc designed its obviously fine
That is one absolute stunning car. Congratulations 👏🤝
Can you tell me how big of nozzle you're using? Cheers

so nice. wish we had om606 here in Australia. can import but that just blows the costs out of the water
When I built this car you could get a whole e class with a OM606 in it for £500. Those days are long gone now!! 😩
You need to buid somthing like this in a W124 Kombi
I'm planning a 250BHP 5 speed OM648 S124 :-)
IM SORRY BUT DID THIS FUCKING W124 JUST HIT 170 MPH???
😊 Have a look at some of my other vids - 180mph +
It’s definitely doing something, look at all the smoke pouring out the back when you put your foot down
Hi buddy how did you find the anti jerk Did make much difference
Hi, I've recently bought myself an e220 on a P reg.. it's a convertible and I love it! Reminds me of the good old days.. anyways mine has started to make the same noise from the blower.. this has helped me to DIY it myself so thank you for your time and effort 👌
☺
Wonderful video. Have seen your thread on retro rides. Great stuff..
What gearbox do you have in it?
SLK 716, however it’s now noisy after 5 years of grief. I have a later 716, which is much stronger however I might go auto… but not ofgear 722.6
@@maximilianboost8498 nice mate car looks amazing with you. Did you need an adaptor plate on it?
@@JoshFox69 No need for adapter plate, some W210 270CDI were 6 speed manual, same block-gearbox bolt pattern as the OM606 , for me is best the W204 220CDI gearbox, reverse linkage has no cable, more simple. Remember I machined near 2mm in the Sprinter flywheel , to fit OK in the crankshaft. Sprinter flywheel-clutch was from Bölk, single mass flywheel kit. Ref: G-061224. Visually can be a Valeo.
@@maximilianboost8498have you got the full gearbox code?
