Asia's Greatest Mega Infrastructure! - The RTS Link Malaysia - Singapore
Asia's Greatest Mega Infrastructure! - The RTS Link Malaysia - Singapore
Let's go everyone and explore an exciting new development that's set to transform travel between Malaysia and Singapore. Join me as we dive into the Rapid Transit System Link project!
The Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link is a landmark infrastructure project set to transform the way people travel between Malaysia and Singapore. This cross-border rail link is designed to ease the daily commute for thousands of travelers and significantly reduce congestion on the Johor-Singapore Causeway, which is currently one of the busiest border crossings in the world.
Spanning a total of 4 kilometers, the RTS Link connects Bukit Chagar in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, to Woodlands North in Singapore. Of this distance, 2.7 kilometers will be elevated in Johor Bahru, while the remaining 1.3 kilometers will run underground in Singapore. This setup is expected to facilitate the movement of up to 10,000 passengers per hour each way, drastically cutting down travel time between the two cities to about five minutes.
The project includes two main stations, namely Bukit Chagar in Johor Bahru and Woodlands North in Singapore. Both stations are designed to handle high passenger volumes and provide seamless integration with existing transportation networks. This will be further supported by the inclusion of Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine (CIQ) facilities at both ends, allowing for efficient processing of passengers without the need for further checks once they arrive at their destination.
The trains used for the RTS Link Johor Singapore will be modern and high-capacity, ensuring a comfortable and efficient journey for passengers. In Singapore, the Woodlands North station will be connected to the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL), providing even greater connectivity to various parts of the city-state. This integration with existing transport infrastructure is expected to enhance the overall effectiveness and convenience of the RTS Link.
The benefits of the RTS Link are manifold. Primarily, it will significantly reduce traffic congestion on the Causeway, which will not only ease the commute for daily travelers but also improve the overall traffic situation in the region. Additionally, enhanced connectivity is anticipated to facilitate business activities and boost economic interactions between Johor and Singapore, fostering growth and development in both areas. The swift travel time will also be a significant convenience for daily commuters, saving them substantial time compared to current road transport options.
According to MRT Corp, the RTS Johor-Singapore Link will be able to accommodate 10,000 passengers per hour in each direction, with an anticipated daily ridership of around 40,000 passengers. In the future, travelers from Kuala Lumpur can take the ETS train from KL Sentral to Johor Bahru, a journey that takes about 6-7 hours and ends at JB Sentral. From there, they can transfer to the RTS Link, which takes just 5 minutes to reach Woodlands North in Singapore. From Woodlands North, you can transfer to Singapore's MRT system and start exploring some of the city's top attractions. Whether you're interested in shopping, dining, or sightseeing, the Singapore's MRT Train will take you to key destinations like Orchard Road, Marina Bay Sands, and Gardens by the Bay.
Many Malaysians, especially those in Johor, are eagerly anticipating the Johor Bahru (JB)-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link. This new LRT train is set to make commuting to work in Singapore more convenient for Johoreans. Conversely, Singaporeans must be very excited about the prospect of visiting Malaysia more often for shopping and dining, thanks to the RTS Link Johor Singapore greatest infrastructure. Stay tuned for more updates.

Was excited when I heard about the news. Thought they had extended the ETS up till Segamat (and bit by bit) but from reading the KTMB website... I am guessing they finish building and testing the new stations first, then release the ETS one shot later on.
