Hey my man, you are helping lots of people and it is our personal responsibility to share our knowledge and preserve your cultural value. Hardly any important lesson in life is enjoyable and entertaining, but once you have put in the work and learned the craft, the joy and pride that come with that success is bliss. I am eternally grateful to you for sharing your knowledge. From all the way out in Puerto Rico, a hello and a heartfelt thank you. Keep the videos coming.
'uoa'uoa, false mullet. Should show them a few from the top, you can see it's pointed and no covering over the eyes. What I do when throwing net, and I see fish that are not going to be legal, or ones I will let go, I unopen the net in a tidal pool, so the fish are submerged in water, as it takes time to take them all out. If I'm going to keep all, I take up further up the beach and untangle it.
Y does my knot slip? I go around 2 then one lock it down here the click and all then go around 2 again and when I take it off my gauge and tug on it it still slips
What if I like make it 3 do I have to put 3on the lead or 2
Nice haul ma braddah
Nice ride ! Thanks for the trip / ride along Kaleo. 🤙🏽
Which do you prefer and y? Drop line or non drop line? Gonna start my first net and wanted to know what you think
How do you destress/relax your line or stretch it before putting on the lead line??? Or can you skip that process?
Not everyone does a stretch. I run a pipe through the eyes, hang weights on the ends of the pipe, pour hot water all over the net.
It's good advice to study the pattern of a throw-net that you like, including the starting row, number and frequency of pumana rows, length, number of lead, etc. Copy that pattern for your first net.
That's the way to go and no forget the Beers
This was a lot of fun, thank you so much for having me on 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
🎉🎉🎉
Were you able to drive with it aired up?
Huh? Yeah, I literally daily drive it, it can drive aired up
Howzit, How many regular rows between pumana rows? Or once you start Pumana rows do you keep doing them every row or like 5 normal rows to one Pumana? Mahalo
Damn bra i messed up😂🤦🏽♂️ I did something wrong because instead of going from 200 eyes to 260 eyes i ended up with 274. I gotta cut all the way back to 200? Or get one way can save um?😂
You added more pumna than shouldve. Best way is to cut, go back. Usually I always double check as Im going on pumana row, then count the eyes before doing the next row
Never holo's for months. Gotta heal first, but when I do ... we gotta go. 🤙🏽🤙🏽
I know! This video is old footage. I havent gone for months, I might go this weekend
Just came here to say that I came looking for this particular recipe. Made this years ago a few times. The only recipe I use!!!!! Thank you!!! #2024

Does anyone know where i can buy a kit for a 1987 toyota pickup thank you
Kit for doing what? A drop kit?
Howzit sorry for da questions but my math just not mathing lol. But how you add 60 eyes to the 200? I understood how to 80eyes to 120eyes and so on but i stuck on how to add 60, do i skip two or three then pumana?
How much eyes did you start with? And was your first pumana row all pumana?
@@tattookaleo i following your diagram of 20 eye start and first pumana row every eye pumana so its 20, 40, 60, 80, then started adding 40 to get 120, 160, 200, but now trynna add 60 to get to 260 and then 320. I getting hard time finding out how for add 60 to the 200
@@1996kayden ok, if im understanding right, you started with "+20", then at your skip 3, you added a pumana between, which brings you back to skip 1, now youre at "+40". Now you want to be at an "+60", on your next skip 3 pumana row, youd do every other. So Pumana, skip 1 pumana, skip 1, pumana, skip 3, pumana, skip 1, pumana skip 1, pumana. Repeat. You dont want to repeat how you did to go from "+20" to "+40" cause youll end up at "+80". Now you want to double up on only HALF of the pumanas, half of 40 is 20. If you want, I can make a video to explain
Hou Howzit just thought I could add how I actually determine my final eye count, so determining off leads is normally okay until you have a net that might have a real unique pattern, like a big net that's really light or too long of a spacing between pumanas. So what I do is calculate the Minimum amount of eyes needed based on the circumference of the net to allow for a full opening. So first we need to determine the width of an eye when it is fully open, and since an eye is a diamond or a rectangle, there is a simple way of doing that. You can take half your stretched eyes length (in other terms your spacer length) and plug that into the Pythagorean Theorem to calculate the hypotenuse of (or the widest point) of a stretched eye. For example if you were tying a 2.5in eye, then your spacer would be 1.25 inches. to a^2+b^2=c^2, plug in your value which would be: 1.25^2+1.25^2=c^2, giving you: 1.5625+1.5625=3.125, then you square root 3.125, which equals~1.77 inches, this would be the hypotenuse of a fully open eye, so you take you desired length of net, say 8 feet, which would be the radius, convert to circumference with the formula 2piR, so 16pi,or ~50.27 feet, convert to inches by multiplying by 12= 603.19 inches. That is your circumference for an 8 foot net, then just divide that by your maximum width of a stretched eye, 603.19/1.77=341.2, so the minimum amount of eyes needed to make this net would be approx 342 eyes to allow the net to open fully. Then I design my puma spacing and lead pattern off of my eye count. Definitely a little confusing when you first try it but it is a good way to double check that your net will have enough eyes to open and lie flat.
Thanks. Very good info, as you say, confusing and most of us would give up trying to calculate all that hahaha. I think most are just going over needed eye count, just to be on the safe side. But, ill definitely keep it in mind.
No matter if it's your first time or your 100th time, the feeling is always gonna be the same, Stoked! Providing for the loved ones, its a great feeling. I seen a red uhu at Seafood City Oahu $9 a pound. With your abilities, da Ohana no need even pull out da wallet. Yessah Blessah!
Is there any information about how to see the fish on the waves before casting the net during the day and at night, please? Thank you
It just takes time to learn to see fish. Some fish are very hard to see. Silver colored fish, youll see "flashes" when they turn. Darker colored fish, look for silhouette in the wave/water. I never threw net at night, but when we "torch", we wear headlamps. Fish are usually sleeping, and if they do wake, the bright light usuappy blinds/stuns them for a little.
@@tattookaleo Thank you for letting me know, good luck to you, my friend
Yessah 🤙🏾
Aside from the monroe airshocks do you have blocks, or modded leafs in the rear?
Pulled middle leaves and 4 inch block
Yesssah braddah 1speed
how many loops would u recommend to start the piko with is it depends on how long u making the net?
The amount of eyes you startyour net with is the same as the piko loops
Best video on how to do the widener I've seen. It seems like a lot of net making videos are geared for peo0le who already know someth8ng about net making. You have a great of explaining things for beginners. Thanks bro.
This is a great video. Many thanks. Showing on the bigger rope is very helpful.
Annoying music but Great catch!👍
Yeah you. Pops be proud. Gotta go again. 🤣🤙🏽🤙🏽
Yeah we go this weekend
Nice bird 🤙🏽
hawda nmo ya oi hehe
what that back pack you carrying you net in?
The red HI Fish Gear bag you see in the video.
How frequently do you do a pumana? Like as your making your net, how many rows do you do before making a pumana? I made a mistake and put one every row.
knock over the rock stack made me LOL
Question, where can I get one of those tools I see you using?
Amazon
Very great video . I had a question though . If you’re doing every other eye for the puumana , when you start the puumana row do you start the puumana when you make your first eye or before ? Sorry I’m not sure if that’s clear
Most times, people that start with 20eyes, will do a full row of pumanas for the first pumana row. Every pumana row after that would line up vertically, meaning the pumanas below, should be in line with the one above. People that start with 60 eyes, usually do every other eye, on the first pumana row. If youre doing every other eye on your first pumana row, its easier to do a regular eye first I suppose. Youd be coming off of tying on to the drop down line, do a regualr eye, then pumana, regular eye, pumana, repeat.
@@tattookaleo ok thank you 🤙🏾🤙🏾
@@tattookaleosorry follow up question . Im about to start my second puumana row . I started with 20 . Now it’s at 40 eyes . I would just line up with the first row all the way down till the end ? Or like in the video when I hit around 120 or 80 eye count I’d add another 20 puumana? Goal eye count is 400 at 10ft and 10lbs similar to the video .
so question how did this sub hold up ive been thinking about getting one but ive read reviews saying it only lastted for a couple months?
Still going strong as when I got it. People reviewing it must be abusing it, and/or dont how how to tune amps and what clipping point is.
@@tattookaleo thanks yeah I was split betweens this one and the two subs one but these handle more rms plus you can never go wrong with a L7 shape sub lol
@@popcornplaya83ify the two subs? From kicker? If its what I think youre thinking, its not a dual sub enclosure. Its a single sub with a passive radiator, it just looks like two subs. That one sounds good, Ive heard it, but its not near the L7T.
Nice ! Brudda Kaleo, what is the perfect weight (including the sinkers ) for a throw net to be at? Let’s say for a 10ft throw net? I’m just curious because by watching your videos I have become a student. Mahalo 🤙🏽
There really no rules on weight of a net, but the general rule of thumb is 1 pound per foot if the person doesnt specify a weight they want. 8ft net = 8lbs, 10ft net = 10lb etc. You can go lighter or heavier if want though. Someone throwing deeper water often would likely want heavier, so it sinks faster. Someone who throws distance often, would like a lighter net.
@@tattookaleo I was wondering because of my spinal situation. I just like to try casting on the reef flats or in shore. Kala / unicorn fish is known to us here as Tå tå gå. The “a” is short vowel. And Nenue / rudder fish is known to us as “Guilli”. Almost like calling the US Special forces sniper camouflage Guile suit. These aforementioned fish Are delicacies here and I would need to be able to throw the distance. But please keep up with your videos. It’s lots of fun and very educational. You have real fans here with me and my grandkids. Many blessings prayed for is coming to you and your family. Mahalo Kaleo. 🤙🏽
K I can appreciate this.i have been misled in most videos, this one not only corrects the misinformation, but explains why.so well done
I always say, if it slips, add another hitch, itll lock. Different lines may require more, some just slip. Genrally, most do the two, one, two style. But being aware is key, pnce you get the hang, youll know by feeling amd sound when the knot locks well.
What mids and highs setup is in there ? Amp crossovers and all, I need to know. That sounds amazing.
just starting to learn, and found ru video very informative, MAHALO!!!!
@TattooKaleo When do you when to start the pumana?
czcams.com/video/W-6WAcXagYs/video.htmlfeature=shared
Big mahalos my bradda 🤙🏽
Damn. That’s solid brother. Take me with you. Lol
If you do the half hitch and it accidentally slips below the top eye all you need to do is give your line coming from the needle a quick jerk upwards it will go back in place.
Just do a single, then double again. Which is the common knot anyway. Double, single, double.
Yup that works too! What I was trying to say is if someone is doing the style without the single then double & the knot slips under the V all you have to do is give the line coming from the needle a quick tug upwards & the knot will slip back up into place. 🤙🏽
Thank you!
