Hi! We are a family of four living and traveling full time in our self-converted sprinter van.
It all started in 2019, after Adam came home with the wild idea to convert a Sprinter Van and live on the road and pitched the concept to Nicole. It took some convincing (and youtube searches of other van lifers doing the same) but as soon as Nicole was on board we started van searching. It wasn't long before we found THE ONE- and we drove up, test drove, and signed the paperwork all on the same day! It was so exciting!
Over the next four years -between everyday life, raising two kids, homeschooling and both of us working a full time job each, we spent our free time building out our perfect tiny home on wheels - whom we affectionately call Skylark The Shuttlebus!
Cut to this year and we are finally here - Living the Van Life Dream!! We're glad you're here with us, and hope you'll stick along for the ride!
ALL ABOARD THE SKYLARK!

Oh no … such a shame as footage from the bridge would have been fabulous 🥲. Do hope you can fix the drone and understand why it has these ‘moments’ … 🥰
@@ladylarge1895 I’m leaning towards it being a dead battery in the controller. Might go back to the bridge with full charge and try again because I’d like to see how it comes out. Also, I don’t like things beating me!
Hope the drone is okay!
Yep the heat wave 🤣 its been killing me
@@AbramPlagmann It’s finally over!
@ladylarge1895 Can you mention this one to Jamie. I was thinking of him when I recorded the lorry at 1:40
I hit my horn when I drive by squatters but not if you are just staying one night
@@aviationphd I would do the same. At the end of the day, no one wants people camping outside their home.
Looks really lovely in the forest. A couple of days off from driving must be welcome. Hope it stays cool for you in the shade of the trees but stay safe and very watchful ! 🐻 😲🐻
@@ladylarge1895 Driving is in my blood, so it’s never a chore. Just ask Jamie! It is certainly nice to have a quiet spot to wait out this heat wave though (even with bears).🐻
Man, y'all wake up early!!!
@@AbramPlagmann Are you on the east coast? We’re 3 hours behind out here, so we actually go to bed late 😆
@@SkylarkTheShuttlebus I am in Oregon! Y'all must be tired staying up that late to edit your videos🤣

The camera attachment you made looks really great. Well done. The waterfall and hydro plant in foreground looks spectacular. I am surprised by Oregon and the inland. Love the fireworks
Thanks, we should start selling custom microphone brackets lol. Sunset was definitely the best time to visit the waterfall. We had to get the fireworks in the video for 4th of July 😊
@@SkylarkTheShuttlebus 🤣🤣🤣 I can do drop shipping in this side of the world for you 🤣🤣
Looks spooky
Great video today 🙌 That darned Airstream keeps appearing 😂😘
@@ladylarge1895 Thank you! One of my favorites I think. That Airsteam has been following us for about a week now 😏
😂😂
Stunning sunset
One of the best! ☺️
Fallout :)
Looks like a great camp ground. The sun shining through the trees look magical
The sun through those trees was just as cool in person as it was on camera!
Nice videos. If you are going toward Seattle. I hope you drive though the Columbia River Gorge. My favorite hike/ place in the Gorge is on the Washington side. It's called Beacon rock. It's so awesome. parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parks/beacon-rock-state-park
Prineville looks really lovely. You all appeared to enjoy your time there. Great video ... enjoying travelling with you all. See you tomorrow.... 😁👏😁
@@ladylarge1895 We had a great time! We were surprised there was so much to do there as it was a small town! We do know how to find random places on the map. lol We will see you tomorrow! 😁
Love how creative you have been with the space you have. I have been watching your vlogs at the weekends 😊
@@lucysell5193 Glad you’re still watching! ❤️
Keep up the great work! It’s lovely watching your journey 😊
@@lucysell5193 we’re glad to have you along for the ride! 😃
I just discovered you guys! Wow - posting daily is very ambitious - I think you need to take breaks. Even posting every other day would be better for you and still very ambitious. Most Vlogs I follow try to post once a week and even they take breaks from that schedule. I’m enjoying your videos! Don’t burn out!!!
Welcome! We’re really happy to have you along for the ride! Posting daily is super ambitious. But. We are now finding ourselves doing things that we wouldn’t have done if it weren’t for the camera. We make sure to do something that makes every day count! Thanks for watching!
Useless info if you don't tell us where or what it is.😮
It’s the old power plant at celestial falls - Tygh valley - Oregon 🤫
Super hard to squeeze through the bars, but I’m real skinny!
We’re still Watching and enjoying! Make sure the experience is taking the front seat and videos are secondary. Enjoy your time and stay safe!
Glad you’re still keeping up! To be honest, the daily vlogging is creating the experiences. We find ourselves doing things we wouldn’t have done if it wasn’t for the camera!
What a awesome town. I love the old cinema. I hope the kids enjoyed the movie. I think that wooden unit is a radio probably shortwave. Concerning it interfered with your equipment when it is unplugged. You may enjoy John Day Fossil Beds National Monument which is 1.30 hour from the town. Free Fossil Beds, painted hills, hiking, Visitors center www.nps.gov/joda/index.htm
The kids loved the movie! I’m super curious to find out what that radio thing was, it should not have I interfered with our microphone like that. We actually looked into the fossil beds, but sadly they were in the wrong direction, we are now in south west Washington!
Wonderful video!
Thank you very much!
I think y’all are doing great! Just take a break when you need it and don’t put pressure on yourselves if you do. Above anything else just enjoy the adventure with your family, uploaded or not. And when you do upload I’ll be following along! 🌳🩵
@@stephanieparker4774 Thank you! Yes, removing the pressure and just enjoying the adventure should be above all. ❤️
In Australia we are lucky to have heaps of rest areas most with toilets, BBQ, some with showers and playgrounds for the kids.
Wish we had one of those that night 😒
That fog is crazy, I never thought it would cover such a large part of California. I agree it looks like the edge of abyss in a game. Redwoods are beautiful giants.
Apparently it’s the hot air meeting the cold ocean and condensing. It’s usually just in the coastal areas.
Beautiful part of California. Looks pretty dry in parts. My son spat his tooth down the sink when he was a kid.
😂 honestly I think Theos tooth ended up down the sink too
What a awesome diner. I love 50s style diners. I bet the burgers were delicious. Was there much fireworks for 4th of July? We celebrated by making Chicago style hotdogs. Great job guys. You doing really good with the camera work.
Thanks, filming in public is tough! There were a few fireworks here, but it is so hot and dry, they limited them because of the threat of forest fires. Some towns banned them completely this year. It’s supposed to be 108 degrees here in the next few days.
Wonderful video, Pacific Highway is very beautiful. We were very lucky to visit the same Elephant Seal location. They are adorable smelly but cute. If you ever go past European street again, thats called Solvang. Its a town settled by the Danish and the whole town looks like that, windmill for the kids to explore its a gorgeous place. That tunnel and the views were incredible.
Tunnel and sunset - one of best parts of trip so far. So where is Solvang? I dont remember seeing that…
@@SkylarkTheShuttlebusat 1.02 min Nicole mentioned European style building it may have been the outskirts of Solvang maybe. Its a town all buildings are German Danish style, windmill, bakery, wineries. Its near Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez valley. Its great place for a weekend, day trip for the family
@@MICHELLE-gu2qc Sounds like we might have sailed right by it. We used to miss so much because we used to put our destination in the GPS and not stop until we got there. Since moving in the van, we have slowed things down substantially, but I think we’re still moving a little too quickly. We have nowhere to be… so I don’t see why we should miss anything!
Stunning trees. Redwoods? I bet it smelt amazing.
You’d think so… but I actually mentioned while we were there that I couldn’t smell them and that it was disappointing! We imagined them to smell like pines.
(Yes they are redwoods)
Great video guys, Harvest Host is a great idea. Alot of places are Harvest Hosts. What a stunning sunset, beautiful location. I hope you all had a wonderful 4th Of July. We celebrated with an American dinner. Even though we Aussies we love America and have been afew times.
I think we’ll use harvest host again, at least while we’re traveling with my parents. We used to do the same thing for 4th of July when I lived in England lol
I used to live in Terrebonne, north of Bend.
I bet we drove right through there! We see so many places, I cant remember them all 😅
Where’s Nicole’s Mom?
She’s in Florida. But she should get a van and head out West. 😉
Amazing sunset 🌇
This channel talks about problem with dust, the how,why and Cheap DIY methods to stop the dust. I hope it helps you czcams.com/video/7HqwC2cGCM4/video.htmlsi=LBYA501DhAhHMThr
That dude is a genius. Thank you for the link. It helps even just to know what the phenomenon is called so I know what to look for.
@@SkylarkTheShuttlebus Anytime 😊. Must be a pain in the bum no working air-conditioning and needing to clean everything out. I hope you get a solution and enjoy your time on the road
Not sure which video you are talking about your dust problem inside. It happens because of pressure called Bernoulli principle. Its caused by when your vehicle is driving, it causes low pressure inside your van. High pressure outside the van basically it causes a vacuum affect any vent, tiny hole will suck dust inside. It happens especially around the door, windows, fridge vents etc. No matter how good your seals are. You need to either seal every gap, but need to careful around fridge it needs to be able to breathable. Or you need to create high pressure inside so there is no suction. When you traveled through AZ, Grand Canyon, to California you sucked a lot in. In Australia outback its a big problem, most people get a pressure unit fitted to solve their dust problem. There are DIY videos on the problem ie how, where to tape, different vent units to create high pressure, covering fridge vents safely which will solve the problem. We get red dust in the outback and stains everything. Its a real pain in the bum.
Insane. No one EVER mentioned this before. It’s literally because of physics and not because of something i did wrong when building the van. I’m sure the red dirt is worse, but the dust here in the west of America stains everything too. Drop your white pillow on the floor and game over! To make matters worse, we drive everywhere with the windows down (dirt roads included) because our air conditioning has a leak somewhere and doesn’t work right now 😝
Florida sure didn't want you to leave. Crazy that you can snow so late in the year.
So spectacular. I am always amazed how large and blue your lakes, rivers are.
I’m pretty sure this lake in particular got its rich blue color because it’s so deep. Do you not get blue lakes over there?
@@SkylarkTheShuttlebus We do have blue river/lakes but its pretty rare, normally we have mud bottoms so pretty brown rivers.
@@MICHELLE-gu2qc In Florida, all of our lakes were black, harder to see the alligators!
@@SkylarkTheShuttlebus I noticed that, its crazy black colour. It looks like crude oil in the lakes, rivers. I would not be putting my feet in any water in Florida and other grater locations. We have a lot of crocodiles here, only good crocodile is one on your plate 🤣
@@MICHELLE-gu2qc So true 😂
I find it crazy how the morning mist/fog rolls into San Francisco. The lighthouse location looks very pretty. Its a good idea parking at church, it would be pretty quiet.
The mist was maybe a blessing in disguise? Gave us a different perspective. Churches have become our ‘go to’ for quiet spots. We just have to be quiet and respectful.
Thats crazy snow ❄ in July. USA has some stunning lakes, National parks and massive mountains. Great video guys. Keep up the great work
@@MICHELLE-gu2qc We certainly didn’t expect it. We have come to expect the unexpected, thank you so much!
Over the years watching brand new channels like yours grow from zero to over 500k to a million. I have also seen channels fail. The difference between the two were the frequency of uploading. All successful channels have all said constant uploading was the way to success and having good subjects to show. I have just got your channel recommendation today. I love travel vanlifers so I subbing and will watch. The more interaction comments you get alters the Algorithm to recommending to more people. Also networking and joining other's videos help smaller channels to grow. The hardest part is the first 1000 people. Editing etc would be hard on road. Maybe my suggestion might help. Film a 20 min video x 1 a week, don't worry so much about editing making it prefect. And the rest shorter video's of 5 minutes. You could also find clips of what you have not used to make video and who doesn't like a blooper of mistakes to laugh with. I have watched a CZcams creator grow from zero to million, and has 2 channels who basically does no editing. If he makes a mistake adds charm to the video or a good laugh. Dont get disheartened, do not give up. You keep going. Much love from Melbourne Australia
So sorry, we didn’t see this message come in earlier! Thank you so much for taking the time to write to us. Your words are very motivational and it’s so nice to know we have some people following us who are genuinely interested in what we are doing. I like your suggestion of doing short videos every day and one long one at the end of the week. Right now I am basically editing everything I have on the camera from the day before, and may continue to do that until we gain a little more traction. Your idea would help me cut down on editing time and also give us a break once a week, so definitely something I will consider migrating to. I have screenshotted your comment to remind me ☺️ Not sure what happened today, but we saw a lot of activity this afternoon (and finally received some positive comments). I guess you were one of several people who received our channel recommendation… Also. Australia?? So cool 😎
Been there beautiful
It really is!! ❤️ hard to believe it is real!

@@dillyb-9254 😁 Awesome! Thanks for tuning in!
daily videos is a LOT. fine if you all alone and using it as a job.. but with the whole family along..? lots of distractions. I don't think it's so much the number of videos.. as it is great editing.. nice camera angles.. and a touch of drama.. for some reason.. drama and disasters really bring in the views... 🙄 even if you have to do a bit of fabricating.. 🤪 but... no sense carrying on if you know in your heart this isn't what you want to do. better to just enjoy the family and adventure.. and treat the video as home movies.
@@deborahb.3736 Before we hit the road, everyone we knew asked us if we were going to do CZcams. Obviously because CZcams is swamped with people living in vans 😅. I always said no because I didn’t want to be reaching for the camera all the time, we wanted to enjoy the trip we had planned for so long. So two months went by after we hit the road, two lazy lazy months. And so one day we picked up the camera. And before we knew it we were doing things we never would have done otherwise. By transitioning to daily vlogs, it now almost forces us to make sure we try and do at least one thing daily to make the day count. It’s made our trip a lot more tiring, but also a lot more fruitful. So, we are going to continue to post daily to keep our trip alive for the foreseeable future!
@@SkylarkTheShuttlebus one day at a time.. it all unfolds. but don't panic if you miss a day or two. and don't do it with any expectations. I have subscribed.. have a great day.

Please stay in Cali, as you won't be welcome in the FLA.
FLA is all yours bud.
Mmmmmm… flunch 😂
Locals don't care that you've bought food, fuel etc. You're not supposed to park there. Find a more safe spot and if YOU do decide to park someplace like that move another 2 feet or so off the road you've got plenty of room to your right.
We were already at least 20 feet from the road 🤔 it was a super wide paved pull off.
They thought you were having a quick hump and were cheering you on!
