Using Front and Rear Bale Spear to Gather Round Bales from the Hay Field
The video discusses the selection and use of both front and rear bale spears. I demonstrate the use and benefits of the hydraulic top link with the rear spear. Using the bale spears to gather hay is essential to hay production. Most small farmers rely on this equipment in hay production and livestock feeding.

Removing Grass From Any Gravel Driveway Without Chemicals Using the TR3 Rake and a Tractor
zhlédnutí 31KPřed 9 hodinami
Getting rid of grass on a gravel driveway is very easy using the TR3 by ABI Attachments. Using a tractor to pull it and a hydraulic top link you can quickly transform the driveway back to gravel. Once you learn to setup the TR3 you just need to make passes and alter your course to work on the driveway. This video shows how it's done and some tricks in how to set it up.

How to Make a Pile of Material With a Skid Steer or Loader Tractor

In this video I show how I use a tractor to push up piles of material by "cutting the pie" method. It can be used with a tractor, backhoe, loader, or skid steer. This method puts less stress pushing big loads against the pile and allows to keep a clean lane as you push. This method works good with all types of material including snow. #tractor #skidsteer #materialhandling

    I bought a set of used 8 foot disc's for $400 and used them on my back lane and it looks the same as what that machine did. Then I just back dragged it with my loader. I don't have the money to afford an awesome unit like this, because our dictator Trudeau has taxed the hell out of all us Canadians.

    We never use the tapered swage spears on Cab tractors.... Should the Nut securing the spear break off the end of the spear it could take out the front cab glass.... We purchased some German Forged spears that are secured in the sleeve with a thru bolt... We use the nut secured spears on open station machines... Our Gooseneck trailer can carry 25 to 28 4x5 bales, the OtR flat beds almost 30..... So we arrainge the bales in groups of 25 to 30 bales....

    • @BradKemp62
      @BradKemp62 Před 9 hodinami

      I had a close call once when a piece broke and hit the top of the cab. I usually only break a spear with the skid steer either by pushing down or slide one too hard. I am not nearly as big as you guys. I haul 17 4x4s in a tripod at a time. So 17 or bigger piles are made. Eventually I will get a bigger rig. Unfortunately getting in some fields are already tough. What brand of spears are you using and rough price?

      If that blade is what I believe a serrated edge on a bucket it may skim the surface but not get you the results your looking for. If the material is loose you may drag it and if it's too hard you won't get penetration. You can try and see. You have nothing to lose. Good luck. Thanks for watching.

    Doesn’t the wheel height set the height right as opposed to raising the top link? Good video. I love the TR3 as well as the SR3 for my skidsteer. I got the TR3 because I was tired of driving backwards for my very long driveway and other roads.

    • @BradKemp62
      @BradKemp62 Před dnem

      I find that the wheels help with depth control or you offset each side if you were to make a crown in the driveway. The hydraulic top link controls the angle of the comb, scar fires, and floating leveling blade quickly from the cab. Once you're in the right position you won't need to mess with it unless you change what you doing. If you don't have one for your tractor you should get one. Works great on many pieces of equipment besides the TR3. You won't ever use the manual top link again. Thanks for the input.

  • @nates2526
    @nates2526 Před dnem

    How important is the hydraulic top link? Would a landscape rake do something similar?

    • @BradKemp62
      @BradKemp62 Před dnem

      I think that the hydraulic top link works on many pieces of equipment. That's all I use. Great for rotary mowers, tillers, box scrapers, etc. one you have one you'll never use the manual one. The TR3 is always an adjustment game depending on what your doing so the hydraulic top link is the way to go. If your referring to a landscape rake is the one with all the tines it would scratch the surface and rip out some grass but would not have any penetration into a hard surface or and depth. It would move around loose gravel and level is where they shine. I hope I answered your questions. Thanks for watching.

    I go along with every comment u made except the TR3 not having Hydraulic scarifiers. They make the same unit like the SR3 but for the tractor called the TR3 Command series. It has the hydraulics for the scarifiers and the leveling blade is hinged. Unfortunately they don’t make it for the smaller units under 8ft. My 5.5ft model cost about $5.5k delivered. Two secrets to handling potholes: 1, cut down to the bottom of the potholes, 2, aggressive crown so that the water runs off, or the same potholes will be right back. A full mix crusher run is needed because stone by itself doesn't pack, it just keeps rolling. Crusher run will pack like pavement.

    How much per ton are you selling the square bales for? And how much per ton could you sell the round bales for? And how much time does it take you to re-bale per ton? How much do you estimate that you are earning per hour after taking into account for fuel and repairs and down time for jams, etc.?

    • @BradKemp62

      Well I don't sell by the ton so I cannot do a breakdown from that. Also I cannot do an exact breakdown in everything because there are a lot of variations in expenses to rebaling with all the various equipment and setup. I plan on doing a more specific breakdown on future videos regarding costs. I do know if you go Hustler rebaling website they have a calculator to crunch some numbers. That may help in what you're looking for. I like your handle as trendinvestor. You must like crunching them numbers. lol.

      @@BradKemp62 I am a certified public accountant so I am used to using financial numbers to make business decisions. I also worked on farms for 4 or 5 summers back in the 80s when I was a kid bailing and stacking small square bales of hay. I understand the concepts and reasons for converting round bales into small squares, but I am not convinced that it makes financial sense to do it that way. I do understand that it might make financial sense in some situations to do it this way

    Really the Trucks with Automatics have an advantage over Straight Gear trucks because of the mechanical advantage in the Torque Converter, One of our duallies has an over-under drive along with the automatic.... The best pulling one is the 2023 F350

    I would think an electric motor on the bailer would cut cost both in initial investment and operating but I could be wrong

    • @BradKemp62
      @BradKemp62 Před měsícem

      Some guys have a stand alone diesel motor. I no idea if an electric motor would work. Even if it did you would need to completely change the hydraulics on the bale unroller also. That would make it pretty pricey I would think. Just my thoughts.

    How many round bales can you do in a 8hr day. We are looking to upgrade are baking system with the hustler.

    • @BradKemp62
      @BradKemp62 Před měsícem

      Your can do a 4x4 bale in 5 minutes and 4x5 bale in about 10 minutes if everything goes smooth. So you can do about (10) 4 x4 bales in an hour making at least 100-120 bales or (6) 4x5 bales and yield 100-130 bales in an hour. That is not taking in consideration prepping the bale or any cleaning you may have to do. Also depends on how many people help you do this . Personally if I did 500-600 bales in a day I am pretty happy with the results. The more helpers the more efficiently your production can be. This is a realistic number in my opinion. The benefit is that your doing it on your terms and your time.

    That is the price of a Round cost in your area?

    • @BradKemp62
      @BradKemp62 Před měsícem

      Depends on size and cut. 4x4 first cut can be $30-$70. 4x5 is $40-$80. Prices have finally been going up the last few years. Ohio I think has hay too cheap. Many big guys sell squares out of state. Obviously quality is a factor.

      That is true, Our main small bale sales are to TSC, who establishes stores in Towns where Fairly Good size stores have vacated the building.... The Northern shippers use Brokers to sell and ship their Hay.... Therefore the buyers have to arrange storage and unloading expenses...... That is where we fit.... Although our Hay is considered lower compared to theirs, on the hay scale, It has been used for generations to maintain livestock and they use our Trailer to sell out of.... A good portion of their buyers are "Traqnsplanted Yankees'''.... We just wait for the Economy to change their thinking......
