My grandma died last year at 102. I always made sure to say “love you” on the phone to her and when saying bye after leaving her place as an adult because we knew her as very closed off. My family was surprised by her response and she got better at saying I love you to other family members. She’d say “love you back”. She once told me within the last two years of her life she didn’t know how to say I love you or be intimate like that because her parents never told her they loved her and it was alien, they never even hugged her so growing up and even as an adult she didn’t know how to do this. It was so touching she’d share that with me. 😢 miss her.

My grandmother and her two sisters and mother were all diagnosed with tuberculosis back in the 1920's. Treatment was sitting in the sun at a sanatorium. Her Mom and one sister died. My grandma and the other sister survived. I don't know how much the sunshine helped but I do know that my grandma spent a lot of time outside even when she was older. ❤

My Mother was abused by my father when I was just a baby. Luckily, she didn't stay in that relationship. She took me and left. She then met and married the man that I am lucky enough to call Dad. My Mom and my Dad instilled in me, and my sisters, to never let anyone treat us like that. Thankfully, I narrowly escaped a potentially abusive situation just before I met my husband. He stalked me for about a year after I left him. The only thing that stopped him was my husband meeting him once after he threatened me. I never heard from him again after that. I'll leave it to your imagination what happened during that meeting.
