I am gobsmacked at the near perfect results you are getting from your machines. I suspect they are quite expensive and are designed to turn out high quality prints. But I do have to ask.... you say you are using ABS plastic which is known for its shrinkage and warping characteristics. But none of your prints have suffered from that so, how did you manage to mitigate that? Also, what is your secret to eliminating stringing between multiple parts? These are my main issues and something which I am finding very hard to overcome. Awesome work. I can only watch in awe.

The MOST impressive Star Wars project I have EVER seen was a Full sized Storm Trooper costume. What was impressive about it you ask? It was displayed at a county fair in 1974! Some guy had built it 30+ years BEFORE the internet AND/OR 3D printers had even been thought of!

as the nerd I am, I wanted to see how the electronics would fit to make it walk and all the dynamics and kinematics and complicated math, but actually its just a model for show... sad but understandable

That's incredible work. Might want to wear gloves with the uv resin. If you get some on your finger and the uv light shines on it, it will burn like a MF'er.

Wow, I tried printing the Droid Division Robot Devil from Futurama at 75% scale, in color (so I wouldn't have to paint or post process) in the week before Halloween; almost broke myself and failed right before the finish line. You just pulled of a Herculean feat, well done!

I really enjoy watching you demonstrate the various techniques you use. The slurry 1st then sand is unique I believe.

I would love to make a fully animatronic robot version of this droid.

Literally every video I learn a new technique for weathering a piece. I gotta try that tape technique on my next build. Usually I just paint it on but I love how organic and natural the tape technique looks. Great job!

Your skillset is very impressive! My printer only has a 180mm volume, it would take me a year to print something that size. I’m new to this hobby, and learning how to break down a model for printing is really frustrating, as no one slices models for small printers.

What's the reason you stuck with 0.4 over something like 0.6, or 0.8, for something this large?

About the dynamic layer hight: the Mars 4 Ultra's .goo file format (and I assume the printer itself as well) supports changing almost any parameter per layer. You'd just need a slicer that supports that or custom a postprocessing tool.

Beautiful work! And inspirational... My printer has been down for over a year now and this really made me miss working on stuff like that. I love that you did that base "metal" with the paint on top. That for me is always far superior to brushing on metal "chipping" after the main paintjob.

Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and get freaked out because I think my dresser is a person or monster. I would have an actual heart attack if I woke up in a room surrounded by droids. 😆

Consider ASA filament. You can finish it like ABS but it’s tougher and UV stable.
