Free returns definitely breeds more returns. It encourages purchases from fence sitters, time wasters, compulsive buyers, those who fancy a free hire of an expensive item and those under the impression that it's Ebay who foot the bill for a return. That £5 item then becomes an £11 item if you've paid two lots of postage on it which is depressing. When I had free returns my INAD rate went up rather than down. It's a common misconception that INAD will go down as if that option is there then they can choose it regardless of free returns or not. I'd also say free returns make selling cheap items less desirable as potentially write offs must be made.
Wise words and I agree, thanks for taking the time to watch hope you have a great week Simon
I moved off eBay after being a slave for 3 years on it listing 15/25 items per day. After paying 20k in fees last year plus VAT, I had to take a different approach. I moved everything to Depop and Vinted and have been paying zero fees. Until eBay does zero fees for business sellers, I will never go back.
Wholesale is fine if you have a way to move the rubbish, need to take the cream and eBay it then put crap on vinted and get money back on that, then take dross to a rag house to weigh in. Listening to that Tech geezer is fine but you have to adapt to the Uk market
@@alexrigg3143 yes you are spot on, that’s exactly whatTech says, he’s not a fan of bulk. My plan is take everything to the bootsale sell off as much as possible for £1 per item then the rest off to the rag man. I’m definitely not a fan of this model a lot of work for not much return, think I will stick to hand picking every item going into my store. Thanks for watching have a great week Simon
@@thegentlemanmarketeer Think you are better off on vinted tbh i cant see you moving much at a boot sale i had stuff thats gone for 15 plus on vinted i couldnt move for a few quid at a bootsale, hope you have more luck anyway
Eddie Bauer shirts sell around £20 on vinted
@@brencosales9591 agree, unfortunately I can’t sell on vinted as I have an exclusive deal with EBay. Thanks for watching Simon
All those fast-fashion brands will sit in your shop for a year. Been there and done it with those types of brands. Lucky to make a few quid off them.
100% agree, it’s all going to the boot sale or rag man Have a great week Simon
Not much Mega about that Haul . Looks like a lot of hard work for very little profit
@@siatic8604 yep spot on, I’m pleased I pushed myself but learned quickly it’s not for me. Thanks for watching Have a great week Simon
@@siatic8604 yes agree, pretty awful, I am amazed how much fast fashion gets thrown away, appreciate you watching Have a great week Simon
Noooo This is the fear when trying to increase daily listings! - Ending up with loadsa rubbish! Good quality, high end brands is your "thing". I think your time would be better spent going a bit further afield for charity shops/car boots. You are in the right part of the country to find the high-end stuff!
@@sophiaw yes you are so right definitely worth going a bit further to get the better quality, where are you based ?
@@thegentlemanmarketeer Leicestershire/Nottinghamshire
@@sophiaw definitely up north compared to me,
That made me laugh out loud 😂if there was a chunk of money in the pocket 😂👍Found a £10 in a purse at boot fair once.
Yes would be lovely to fine a gold bar in a pocket 😂😂😂
Morning Simon. I’ve got a contact and have done the same model before but moved away from it. However what I would say is that stuff like Mint velvet and low end Ralph Lauren would go at £5 a pop on Vinted. Chuck it on the table, 4 photos and quick sales. Less professional photos so no risk of issues with Vinted and you get your money back or small profit for 30 mins of time. I’ve found that works best to maximise time and profit when doing this model of sourcing . Then cash for clothes or clothes bin the rest that you havnt kept for ebay, Cheers , Ben
@@yesterdaysviberesell3934 hi Ben very good advise, I stay away from Vinted as I have sold my soul to EBay to exclusively sell on that platform only. Thanks for watching Have a great week Simon
Don’t show the Mrs she will want to keep all the bags.
@@kdad-00 I’m luck she’s not into bags 😂😂😂
Bags of bags of Rubbish 😂😂
Yep so true 😂😂
Hope your new regime works for u Simon.
Thank you I appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. I am trying my best definitely not easy but I love to push myself to the limit. Hope you have a great week Simon
You could try "2 for £1, or 3 for 3 quid" :) if that don't sell open bags of bulk at the boot sales, I'm thinking the african clothes buyers. PS What camera do you use? I know you've mentioned it before, but I can't find the VT.
Thanks for watching, yes I think doing a bundle at the car boot would be a great idea. I use my Apple IPhone 14 max and film in HD 30fps Have a great day tomorrow 👍
@@thegentlemanmarketeer Sorry, I meant for listings:)
@@DigiDiver 😂 sorry should have realised, I use a Canon IXUS 185 point and shoot with an SD Card. Works for me but I also know loads of people who swear by using their phone.
I've landed very lucky with a contact in a charity shop and also hand pick separately in bulk from the same contact separate from the charity shop. All high end stuff
That is the dream, great score and well done for building relationships it’s the only way
Some real garbage here Simon - stick to the good quality in your store. Cheers
@@Azaarr never a truer word said, I completely agree, I am pleased I tried but don’t think it’s for me. Have a great week Simon
Not for you Simon Keep up the good quality men’s clothing you always sell Diverse in to the unknown women’s/ kids brings the quality down and the profit margins I personally would rather stick to 12 a day and be happy than 20 and sending myself potty Just my opinion Good video as always Regards Clifford
@@cliffordjames8080 absolutely spot on as alway, definitely not for me, stick to hand picking every item going into the store. Hope you have a great week Simon
I think i would be inclined to just get rid, to cash for clothes. And spend my time sourcing better quality items. Otherwise your spend alot of time having to sell at boot sales. All the best!
Think you may be right on that one, thanks for watching
Deffo 😢
Good video as always love your content The issue with bulk buys is people don't add in the "cost of time" spent making the connection collecting disposing of the items you don't want sorting the ones you do. Also from personal experience it is very easy to suddenly think I'll list that when in normal circumstances it wouldn't be anywhere near your store. Not saying this applies to you as you consider everything as you discussed at the start Thanks
Very very wise words and I agree whole heartedly, thank you for taking the time to watch and comment, have a great week Simon
It is amazing how much "fast fashion" is just thrown away - I picked up a huge bundle of vintage clothing a couple of weeks ago, around 1000 items, but these are purely vintage pieces so I have the mammoth job of sorting and listing it, which I have started !!
Yes spot on so much fast fashion and also a lot of Marks and Spencer’s, not awful but not for me. Hope you have a great weekend Simon
Hello claire is this in the Uk . This bulk wholesaler
Great pick ups, Simon! You're keeping me company while i work, thank you!! 🥰
Thanks Dana, 🙏 Hope you are keeping well
Do you ‘promote’ your listings? If so what rate do you use? Thanks
Hi thanks for watching yes I do promote all my listings, I do 7% straight away. Hope you have a great weekend Simon
I do quite well with Charles Tyrwhitt shirts. They seem to sell quite quick for me, particularly larger sizes, so I always pick them up if the price is right. Enjoyed the vid, some nice pick ups! 👍
Thank you yes I agree bigger sizes seem to do better, hope you have a great weekend Simon
how much do u usually sell them for

Yes I do have a trolly but find it a bit bulky to take around.
Great pick ups Simon 👍
Thank you so much hope you enjoyed the video, have a great weekend Simon
Good on the lady sticking to her price. Hard work car boot selling. Travel setting up etc.
I agree, definitely not an easy gig, thanks for watching
Enjoying your videos .Great knowledge of brands.enjoy car boot season
Great video as per. Love watching carboot videos! Quick question, which camera do you use to take photos of your products? I've been using an iphone but I just want to get a handheld camera. Cheers mate
Hi thanks for watching, I use a dedicated Canon IXUS 185 point and shoot, it has an SD card, not let me down in 2 years
@@thegentlemanmarketeer That's great. Thanks so much. How do you find it when close up on an item? My iphone colouring is so off when I get close to an item for any defects.
Great vid simon - I would like to hear more about what you pay for items also
Great point yes I will do more of that but currently I pay £7.04 on average per item Have a great day Simon
Keep it up Simon, love watching you videos!
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed 🙏
Thanks for the another great video. Could you tell me what size are the bags that you are using for storing clothes? Thank you
Hi thanks for watching, the bags I use are from eBay and they are 15X12 and clear, I do put a suffocation disclaimer on every bag. Have a great day
How much did you pay for the boots?
Thanks for watching, yes should have said the price, I paid £12.99 for them. Hope you have a great week Simon
Great work Simon!!!
Thanks Shell 🙏
Great video again 👏
Thank you , hope you have a brilliant week, Simon
Nice sales, research is definitely key!
Thanks you for watching, hope you have a great week 🙏

Thanks Liz, appreciate you still tuning in 😂😂😂 Hope your week and life is good. Have a great week x
Thank you Simon, Weekend Offender & Black Diamond, two I have never heard of but added to my list. Top vid.

Ha ha thanks Jon, hope you are well and had an awesome week. Simon
thanks for sharing that BOLO. you are one of the few that still gives me hope with charity shops.
Thank you I appreciate the kind words, good luck for next week hope it’s a good one
Hi, love the vids, in a previous video you mentioned you get you boxes that you store your stock in from supermarket, what are the dimensions of the boxes?
Hi thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, I get my boxes free of charge from Lidl super market, they are the tortilla holders. They measure 23X10X7 inches hope that helps, have a great week Simon
Huge opportunity at the end of your garden. Retro Reselling did his for £14k. Considering adding an Airbnb studio if you have rear access to add to your income streams.
Yes absolutely, thanks for the comment, have a great week end
Been waiting for a business update! Congratulations!!
Thank you so much, hope you enjoyed
Great video again hun and you give me inspiration to push myself harder 👌
Thanks Amber appreciate that and yes always good to push yourself, have a great week
I normally really enjoy your videos but this one was disappointing. No bought and sold prices when packing, EBay displaying their panic at better platforms snapping at their heels with.a CZcams linkup and you putting your foot on the seat opposite on the train up to London. Must try harder.
Absolutely agree on all aspects of your comment especially the foot on the seat, 😔 I ran out of time when editing the video to put sold prices in. Won’t happen again Have a great week Simon
@@thegentlemanmarketeer Still love you Simon.

Great to meet you too, yes will ping over my details 🙏
4k POV videos around cities would be a great idea.
Thank you appreciate the feedback
Ahhhh thanks for the shoutout Simon! Was cool to hang out and bounce ideas around! See you in September 🙌🙌🙌
Thanks again you are a great friend 🙏
There you are Simon, excellent video. That Google building looks amazing. Simon, what I find very useful for me anyway, is a picture of the item sold, would pause the vid and make a note, very useful info for a small time seller, hope you can include this again in future vids. Great to see your business continues to prosper.
Hi John, glad you enjoyed the video, I ran out of time on the editing of this video, yes I definitely will do the price comparison in the future 🙏
Do you wash your items then dryer then lay down flat?
Thanks for the heads up
