Finding Something CRAZY While Birding at Lee Kay Ponds
Birding for hours at antelope island gives me a huge dopamine hit. This year birding got expensive for me because I finally purchased a great binocular. It has made a huge difference and sometimes I can catch a short glimpse of those silly elusive warblers. This was a great video and I hope you are getting all those lifers you need.
This video is awesome! We’ve had some good memories so far and I can’t wait for more to come!
Yeah only bigger and better things on the horizon
I recently saw a social flycatcher after there was a tropical storm. That was a lifer for me.
Super cool! Thats a pretty bird
Greta video! More Americans should see this and get into birding ! What an amazing hobby
I agree! I hope more people of all ages, from all over the world should get into birding
Yeah birdwatching is the best 😊
Sure is!
Birdwatching got me fitter. So many places to cycle to see birds.
Great point! There are physical benefits to getting outside and moving around!
It’s my #1 hobby, I have 419 world species thus far. Great video, Hawkin! 🦆
That’s great! Next 500, let’s gooo!!!
Wow that's awesome!!! I Hope to catch up to those numbers one day. I am currently only at 175
Beautiful pictures! I got inspired and went up to Brighton. You saw so many more birds than me😂, but it was still fun. I hope the finish the construction on Silver Lake soon.
Yeah it will be nice once you can complete the full loop. And also, the earlier you go to that area the more likely you’ll see wildlife! I didn’t see much on my way down
How different is the autofocus performance on A6700 vs A6400
It's got their latest autofocus system with AI so the a6700 is really good. The a6400 wasn't bad, but I really really notice the a6700 locking onto birds way easier. It even locks onto their eyes
That was a red-breasted nuthatch calling behind you.
Call is of a Red-Breasted Nuthatch. I know because I have seen one in Europe (Germany) two years back.
Yep you are correct! Cute little bird
Along with a broad-tailed hummingbird
The call behind you at 3:38 is..... Red-breasted Nuthatch! Great video! Beautiful area too!
Great IDing. You are correct!!
Actually it appears that the duck family (female with young) from 1:37-2:02 are in fact blue-winged teal. Dark bill, light area at the base of the bill, darker cap and eyeline. So I believe you got your teal!
I thought so at first too. But I believe a lot of the local Mallards are hybrid thus the darker bill. I also saw an adult male mallard in the video that had a darker head as if it was covered in something. It certainly may be possible to be a teal but I still lean towards mallard
Agree with @kylegage87. Mallard has a sloping forehead head-shape above the bill, whereas B-w Teal has a more rounded crown above the bill, and the bill is black & slightly spatulate, also yours (in the 1st group of ducks seen) shows the typical white spot at the lower bill base of a female B-w Teal. The other group of ducks, a female & 5 ducklings, are Mallards.
Agreed as well. The duck family is indeed Blue-winged Teal. The only Mallard is the single bird you show later in the video.
In Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR, near and around where I live in the sub-rural countryside, we have the Lesser Egret, Greater Egrets , and Cattle Egrets.
We also get the Great Egret and the Western Cattle Egret!
Unfortunately, Hong Kong 🇭🇰 does not have any duck 🦆, nor goose 🪿, unless you visit a bird sanctuary, then there would be lots of birds to see .
Really interesting. That's surprising at ducks are everywhere here
I checked GOOGLE and the Blue-winged Teal seems to belong to the Mallard, duck 🦆, goose 🪿 family, right ?
Yeah I believe they do. Very similar species although smaller than a Mallard
Great video Hawkin! I particularly enjoyed the footage of the Eared Grebe! Beautiful bird when it's in full breeding plumage!
It was random to come across one!
Saw a Blue-winged Teal in the Netherlands last Sunday 😊
Haha wish I was you right now!
I was lucky to see some blue-winged teals one time.
Jealous still need to get those on my life list
Congratulations! We have the Cormorants, Night Herons and Great Blue Egrets as regulars at a local park here in the OC. (California) 😊🌞 Enjoy your videos! 🌟
It’s always super nice to have some sweet birds at your local park! Thanks for watching
Wow, that is a lot of species in one day!
your videos are amazing :) any plans for when you finish your lifer list?
Once I finish my challenge I won’t stop making vids. Then I will have even more time to chase rarities, go on birding trips to other states, and make more content!
@@HawkInTheLens so excited! hope you visit the northeast sometime, there's a TON of amazing mountain birds up here :)
@@bazdotorg I sure hope to!
Congrats on your lifers!
Thank you!!
Thanks for taking the trip out to bird with me! I had a fantastic time showing you around my home area! Amazing video to go with the memories as well!
It was a blast! Next I need to show you around Wisconsin
Interesting revelation....thanks.
Why did you not wait for a better day to make this video? Also you did not say when you went. What month?
Not sure what you meant by better day? It was an awesome day! And this video was filmed on April 27th, 2024. I appreciate the suggestion on putting the date in my videos I will try to remember that in the future. Thanks for watching and the feedback!
Peaceful, indeed! Sometimes winter birding is the most peaceful, especially early in the AM. Cool stuff.
It certainly beats the slow and hot Utah summer we are having that’s for sure
Well that was a bummer but that’s how unpredictable wildlife is! But cool video. You will get it next time 😊
I recently saw a solitary sandpiper which is a lifer for me.
That's so sweet! I haven't seen one of those yet
Really enjoying your videos, well done on all the lifers!
Thank you!
Great video Hawkin! Congrats on the crossbills! That's a bird I can't ever seem to find haha. Keep up the good work.
Was so surprised to see a small flock in the forest when I woke up! Was a great treat
The only predatory raptor that I know that flies in the semi-rural area of Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR is the BLACK KITE. Awesome and majestic bird. It hunts for fish, snakes, and rodents in and around the estuaries nearby.
Amazing video really enjoyed watching, new subscriber here !
Making another comment because that shot of the chukar was so beautiful! Super colorful!!!
I'm a simple girl, I see "incredible day of birding", I click. What an awesome day for you! I hope you continue to see some amazing birds out there. And props to you for sticking through some rough weather. That's where the most satisfying shots can hide.
Wow thank you for the lovely comment it means a lot!
@@HawkInTheLens Keep up the awesome work :)
Amazing video, stunning footage! Greetings from a Swedish youtuber! 🇸🇪
Thanks for tuning in!
You got a beautiful bird photo. Thanks for sharing the birding adventure video. A big LIKE from Singapore. Happy Birding!!!!
Congrats on your lifer!
Thanks so much!
The flycatcher may have been a western wood-pewee, but I don't really know for sure.
That’s definitely possible
Agreed. Upright posture, lack of wingbars, thin + incomplete eyering, dusky gray sides and super long primary projection point to WEWP
Congrats on the Western Tanager! Awesome video at Pia Okwai as well!
Thanks Jordan! Such a cool nature center for sure
I think the flycatcher might be a Western Wood-pewee (I don't know what other pewee there are in Utah). You can upload your photo to Inaturalist and other people can help you identify it. (I wrote this with the translator, sorry if there are errors) I like your videos!
That’s definitely possible! A lot of people have seen Western Wood-Pewee recently
Hi from So Cal🌞. Such a beautiful spot and beautiful shots! I wonder what happened to that magpie’s other leg? He seems to be doing alright. Thanks for the ride!
Yeah I love how they are developing that area along the river. The magpie was super crazy! I honestly have no idea what could have happened. I am not sure if magpies even have predators
Amazing birding adventure. Thanks for sharing. 1 LIKE for the video.
Appreciate you for watching too! Thanks for the like 😀
Hello from Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR, we have the Black-collared Starlings, Oriental Magpie-Robins, Spotted Doves, Red-billed Blue Magpies, Oriental Magpies and the European Sparrows in the New Territories of Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR.
I had never heard of a Magpie-Robin. Looked it up and super cool!
You are almost @ 100!!! I just barely got to 100 last week. Thanks for showing this new center and I'm going to check it out. Happy birding!
Congrats on passing 100! For me that’s 99/130 specific birds in a field guide I have. My life list is at around 155 right now!
That’s amazing ! Biridng in snow and finding so many birds! Good job 👏🏻
Was such a fun adventure. Thank you!
I've seen 211 species of birds. What's your total number of birds you've seen?
211 is awesome! I’m at around 155 as of today
Nice video! Really love the vibe ❤
Thank you so much!
Awesome video! A nice chill adventure with some beautiful birds!
River walks are my favorite!
Yellow Warblers make it so tough to get the shot you want, nonetheless great snaps!
I know! They just love hiding in the trees and look the same color as the leaves reflecting sunlight
