People are UPSET at the Netflix adaptation? From the sound of it, they IMPROVED it. After seeing this video and reading the comments about the books from readers, I'm kinda glad I found Bridgerton through Netflix and not the books themselves. I feel like I would've DNF'd it from the get-go.

I once did a cosplay of kindred from league of legends. I was entered to join the contest as a novice, and they planned a league of legends photoshoot prior to the show. Anyone in a league costume was to get in a big group photo. They ended up removing me from the photo because they decided that per league lore, Kindred didn't fit in with the other characters. I guess more people came than they expected and they divided up the characters by factions. Well... Kindred doesn't have a faction or a specific region. She's basically the Grim Reaper. She's everywhere! I wasn't invited to any of the group photos, and I pulled out of the costume contest. Some of the other cosplayers saw what happened, and they took a few photos with me unofficially. But I decided to leave the con early. I was told by some friends attending that people in the show actually asked what happened to the kindred? They just coldly said I changed my mind and wouldn't be competing. Didn't mention the fact that I was also removed from the photoshoot.

(Forgive me for the long aaa comment 😭) Being from Italy conventions here are entirely different, specifically contests. Here conventions are relatively small with 3-4 judges and almost no pre-judging (only for LuccaCG which is the second biggest convention in the world and a couple from tourist cities). Now there’s this specific ‘company’ called Epicos and it’s one of the main groups that organizer’s of these contest. The category’s are different with no levels based on wins but just the costume itself like Best Sewing, Best Prop, Best Armor yada, yada, yada… although there’s questionable categories such as Best Kid/Teen, Adorable (???), Best Family and etc.. Now because of this most people force their kids and family to participate, getting the easy win and flexing about it which in my opinion is really pathetic and disgusting. The judges are also forced to choose an adult as the ultimate winner because that person gets to participate in a more professional contest with past winners (this is the only thing I agree with because the Italian Cosplay Cup, the professional contest Im talking about, is pretty far away so y’know). The only thing you’ve got to accept as a minor is you’ll never win, even if you’re the best Cosplayer there. There’s also another issue with way smaller conventions (one edition type of small) where people across Italy participate with master level builds just to shit on novice cosplayers (oh good lord the cries). SOMETIMES (from personal experience) the contest was judged by volume. By that I mean the loudness of the people IN THE FUCKING CROWD (just saying, this time the competition didn’t have any judges). This just resulted in random groups screaming and being an unbearable experience overall..

You guys can't actually be serious. Penelope was fat because she was a child. 17 if I'm remembering correctly. It's quite normal for some people. They grow and naturally lose weight. But she lost weight by her second or third season. However, she still spent 7 more years on the shelf. It wasn't her losing weight that suddenly made her pretty. Colin had seen her by the time she lost weight, but he never noticed her. And it makes perfect sense for colin to announce peelope's identity at the ball. The bridgertons have a lot of social power. If penelope had announced it herself, she would have been booed. She would have been hated. But having colin bridgerton, a vicount and a duke and then also duchesses, vicountess etc openly support penelope made her untouchable to scorn. As female empowering the netflix show was, it simply does not make sense. Whistledown has insulted so many people and brought their gossip for everyone to see. A simple speech by penelope of all people would not make them forget it. And definitely not butterflies. But yeah, I i hated colin's character. It was quite clear that he was jealous of penelope. at least his jealousy was addresed. It still didn't change but at least he admitted to it🤦🏾‍♀️

The adaption sucked. Pen & Colin’s romance was just a sidebar to other reimagined stories in the mini series.

I didn't read Pen's book, I only made it through When he was Wicked and An Offer from a Gentlemen before rage quitting, but judging by the quality of those two this doesn't surprise me at all. I really hope they make Benedicts season less toxic as well because in his book he is a world class piss baby.

Ahahahaha omg yes, when I first saw the show I definitely 100% expected them to show her lose weight. I am soooooooooooo glad they didn't but it felt too good to be true, and now I know the book made her lose weight 😭 I've been on both sides of the weight spectrum, super skinny and gaining 50+ pounds after being put on meds. I never thought I'd get a date at that weight, used to try my best to hide my body. I was seeing a guy who I thought was physically fit and attractive and was way out of my league because of my weight. Well, guess when I got married to that guy? When I was at my heaviest.

AcUrAcY), thank you for pointing out that its cosplay, its not that serious, there is no police, if anyone is going whine about it theyre the issue

@SarahSpaceman you are the judge who should be at every costume contest. Your critique is very good and you are very scary. In a good way because people need to know the boundaries, what they did wrong, and how they can improve. But when they don't listen? Niceties can only go so far. And the MC was a biatch to your partner and the other gentleman onstage when she was shooing them off. I know it's an in the moment type of thing, but in order to be an MC as a fully grown adult, you need to act like an adult and not like an awkward teenager blurting and yelling all over the place and flailing your arms about like that. I was in a high school play (and costume contest), and I forgot my lines. I had complete stage fright, but I knew the show had to go on, so I improved as much as I could on that last minute play disaster that probably deserves a video of its own. The costume contest I was in during high school was better run than this and it was ran by awkward teenagers who were definitely not wearing deodorant. 😂😅

And it definitely has its drawbacks, but as a person who’s never read the books, and not really planning to, I had no way of appreciating how the showrunners actually FIXED the source material. The myth of novice winning best in show happened to me and my best friend at Matsuri 2015. It was actually our first time competing ever. Every time I've competed and gone through the judging process, it's incredibly nerve-wracking. I can't even begin to imagine how this entire disaster felt for newbies and even the experienced competitors.

I tried listening to the audio book of the 1st novel, and I had to stop listening after the 1st chapter. It was so bad. It was also nothing completely different than the show. I love the multi-racial/cultural cast, so picturing them all as white was difficult.

I've only entered one cosplay competition before because of the experience I had. I was the first to go and the three judges spent about 45 minutes looking at my cosplay and about 10 on everyone else. They were super invasive and didn't even know what fabric I used. They flipped up my skirts to find it, thinking I had lined my outfit with it when it was clearly front and center, consisting of a third of my skirt and most of the bodice. No one asked me or even warned me that they were going to flip up my skirts in front of everyone else or that they were going to almost CLIMB UNDER my skirts to "look for this fabric".

I'm a plus sized person, and I completely agree!! I think it'd only be strange if someone put on a fat suit to cosplay someone played by a real-world actress. Just imagine if your cosplay would hurt yhe original actresses feelings or not, and you're good
