My husband’s father was in the Hitler youth sent to the Russian front when he was 16 years old. I am the daughter of a Nazi slave labourer kidnapped when she was 15 and sent to Germany to work on a farm. My father was a Polish soldier involved with transporting Polish citizens in Germany after liberation. It is a good world when many years later I married my German husband, despite the history. This is how hatred stops growing.

I'm only 4 min in and I think this is your best video ever! Love all the rest but this is history, this video will probably also become part of a historical archive!

I truly enjoyed your video of your visit to Normandy. I also know how grateful you were to be able to visit your great uncle’s grave. We experienced a similar thing when my husband and I visited Normandy and the American cemetery. His uncle, Camille Simon, died in Normandy and the family was told that he was buried in St Mere Eglise. We told this to the lady who worked in the museum and she looked up his name in their record books. It turned out that he was indeed buried in the American cemetery in Normandy. The American soldiers who were buried in St Mere Eglise had been moved to Normandy. No family members had been notified at the time. They kindly brought us to his grave where we were able to take photos. To our knowledge, we were the first family to visit the grave. We are from Louisiana in the USA and the trip to France was not possible for most. Your video brought back memories of both the pride and regret we felt as we walked among so many graves. My teenage grandfather was there. He was in the armored division, survived that day and was wounded in Germany. He was flown home to a military hospital and never really spoke about the war. He like all those boys, saved the world.

I greatly appreciated this episode. Although I beg to differ at what you said as for us the most important site in our hearts is Juno Beach. I was blessed to bring our daughter to Juno Beach and to Vimy Ridge for their 100th year recognition. Canadians are known as the world's best foot soldiers. I pray we find peace in the turmoil that faces our world at this point in time

Trovo che spesso i colori sono troppo scuri. Non allargano la visuale della stanza ma la riducono. È un vero peccato…non avere risaltato la bellezza delle stanze ma in certe averla peggiorata. Meglio prima.

Thank you for sharing this. I was at Omaha Beach and the cemetery in 2022. As an American, I was truly moved by this historical site and also saddened by the many deaths that occurred here on that day 80 years ago. I was saddened not only for the loss of American lives, but all who perished.

My uncle was killed in St Lo on July 14 1944. My father, a B17 pilot was shot down over Düsseldorf 3 months later and spent the remainder of the war in prison camp. My grandmother received two telegrams in one week informing her that one son had been killed and the other was missing in action- horrible times. Thank you for your tribute 0:01

I watched this months ago for the first time. Id already enjoyed your channel but this was when i got hooked.

I naturally choose darker, but surprisingly i was drawn to the lighter one until you pointed out the tile. Definitely the darker one.

It's nice that you are also going to a German cemetery. There are still people who hate Germans, but I know that most Germans did not want the war at all Hitler had so brainwashed his people that they didn't know any better the same thing Putin is doing now with the Russians fighting in Ukraine

There’s a German cemetery near Mont St Michel w Is close to where I live it’s a very moving place. Really enjoyed this video.

I have a pencil written letter , written on the beach at D Day landings. It is from my father’s friend. They were friends from Manchester England. He was army , my dad was Navy. They stayed in touch throughout the war. He writes an account of what was happening around him. And sent it to may dad. I do not know if he survived that landing on the beach.

I had 2 Uncles in the war. One a tail gunner whose plane was shot down. Fortunately the French Underground hid them and helped them to escape. The other worked to decipher German communications.😊

This episode was so moving. My father landed at Omaha Beach in the first wave. He was alone and everyone else in his group was dead so he joined another group of rangers. He went up to the top of the cliff and then some horrible things happened. He survived along with one other in his unit. I am so grateful for all those who fought for their country.

Hi, We really enjoyed your very interesting and moving vlog and when you met the villagers to hear their stories in the village Hall! Also for taking us to see the lovely English monument and silhouettes in the field. My Father was a Major in Lord Lovat's No. 4 Army Commandos who helped to relieve Pegasus Bridge after the D Day Landings on Sword Beach! Shortly afterwards he was shot in the leg and was hospitalised back to the UK.He sadly passed away when he was 60! I am so very proud of him, his courage and all his comrades. I, and my family, will always remember them with great pride and thanks. We watched BBc's brilliant commemoration event at Portsmouth and in France and hearing letters from Veterans read by marvellous actors was very moving and so well produced.
