Actually, bears have a very low rate of attack. I spend a lot of time in the smokies. A bear entered our cabin, stole a bag of chips, and ran off with me n my lady 20 feet away in the kitchen. Another time, `1 was under 20 feet away as i was on porch. Took off when I told it to shoo. Next time... 3 came up lookin for food. Once watched like 10 people watchin a mama n cubs from about 40 feet away. Bears actually have a very low attack rate.... and the attack rate of men is still drasticly lower.

I would never put my dog thru eating me to survive.
