AbsolutBlack Oval Chainring Review - Are they worth it?
zhlédnutí 17KPřed 5 lety
I never really see oval chainrings discussed much. For how popular they are, there seems to be a stigma surrounding them that they're just odd. However, I think there's a real benefit and difference when using these chainrings, and I go into more detail in this video.

Shimano PD-M520 Review!

In this video, I take a look at Shimano's cheapest clipless set of pedals that they have on the market. There was a recent sale where you could get these pedals for around $24. They're some of my favorite pedals, so they deserved some screen time!
Conquering Clingmans Dome - The Highest Peak in Tennessee
zhlédnutí 2,2KPřed 7 lety
My dad and I conquered our second trip up Clingmans Dome! A 22 mile climb with about 5,400 feet of climbing. It's an amazing route, and I took the camera along with me this time to capture some of the scenery and to offer some tips along the way. Leave a comment about your biggest climb or ride to date, and what you thought about it!
County Road 1518 Climb - Carter County, KY
zhlédnutí 493Před 7 lety
This is a classic climb in Carter County! It's a pretty steady grade at a decent length. This hill takes you to the top of a ridge, which will then lead you down to the Welcome Center at Carter Caves Park!
you did great but I think It will be better of you put drop bar
Hey thank you so much for making this video it will help me out with my future project to convert my mountain bike into a road bike as well. Big thanks!
Will the speed be the same as those rb?
Your dad's seat appears to be too low. Very hard on the knees.
thats a criterium set up
Why not drop down bars? I am wanting to convert a gravel bike to a road bike, but the store mechanic mentioned something about the forks being inherently different. There is a ratio of space that is off. The shape of the fork as well.
Hey, would you recommend 29 or 27.5 bike on this trail? Seems like there's some larger roots/rocks for 29er, but also a little technical. Thanks.
How much does it weigh?
I Love it!!
is mtb 32t 10-52 t 29tires good on flat road?
Thanks for the info. Not understanding the advantage of the single, small ring up front.
What's the chainring size?
Thank you! This some great info on what I'm trying to achieve. What is your top or average road speed now and with what size chain ring?
What was the rear cassette combination form MTB to Roadie?
Wow we do that a lot here in the Philippines converting mountainbikes for the road. Its really fun to ride and quick too.
In my opinion you built a badass gravel bike
Nice hybrid
Hybrids are a thing in the Philippines.
I used mountain bikes for road riding. Around Essex the roads are terrible
What I found out the problem to be is not the number of speeds but rather the missing bigger 50-51-52 tooth cogs on smaller speed cassettes. I can't imagine why would you need an 11 tooth on MTB. I've changed from 2 x 8 to 1 x 11 and I've never used anything after 8th speed and the bike is even used fairly often on the road as a commuter. I could have stayed which the 8 speeds, just give me 52T ring :D
been wanting to try these out, im up in corinth. You live local?
My brother and I made up our own event in 2004 or so and called it the Dual Peak Tricathlon. The 3 events being ride from Gatlinburg to the top of Clingman. Then, backdown and cycled to the Bullhead trail and fast hike up Mt. Laconte. The third and final event was beer drinking. So about 50 on the bike 14-15 round trip up Laconte. Think it took about 6-7 hours. Was a blast.
Total wasting of money! I have 2 oval chainrings, and I have never ever felt any benefits of this nonsense! I don't own a car, so cycling is my everyday habit, and bicycle is my only transportation,so,a experienced 'cyclist' Keep your money, don't get hyped! Peace, and greetings from Croatia from Kris 😊
Gonna do this to my marlin 5 might even put rigid forks on it since I never ride on trails and all city riding
Your Dad crushed that hill.
I would shorten the bars and put some end bars too
Do you know what "caveat" means? Try learning words before using them.
i love my oval!
All I want to build is an mtb than is able to sprint with 50t chainring
I like that Monster Energy colour scheme as well. The Original, not the 1,000 varieties that they now have.😊
Most inept use of an Allen key I’ve ever seen
im doing a very similar project right now
Scales needs new battery. Think they tend to do that.
Super helpful video. Thank you!
I agree that chainrings are important. I cannot understand the price.
Have you had any problems with dropping the chain on your single speed? Seems like there is a large slack section when you’re paddling.
Very easy to convert Shimano to XD - but make sure that you get the correct XD! Do not get an XDR for MTB use...
Per peeve -- nobody uses handlebarS, there's only one handleBAR. TANDEMS have handlebarS, plural.
I Run A 30 Oval instead of A 28 ..... I Like It ALOT More .... The Thrust Is Easy To Manage and EXTRA . Love The Variable Gearing 😎
Shoot I’m converting a fully suspension mountain bike to a road bike
Shoot I’m converting a fully suspension mountain bike to a road bike
Hate road bike frames.Put a set of maxxis torch 29×2.1 on stan no tube wheels.Put a pnw dropper and wtb seat with odi grips. So fast, smooth and versatile.Absolutely love it.
I would have swapped out that rear hub and converted to SRAM XD. This would have allowed you to use the SRAM GX 10-50 or 10-52 cassette. For chain sizing on a HT bike. Add 3-4 links when measuring chain over chain ring and largest gear on the cassette
I love my GX 12-speed setup
Try changing your chainring to an 42
I am surprised with a fancy bike like that he didn't go all in with XX1 drivetrain. 🤔
Don't think you need to change the fork if you have the option to lock the suspension
Love how you can do this with your Dad. I envy you. Ride safe.
I have a mtb with steel frame which is quite heavy to use a road bike tires, then?
I think you could have just put a road tire that is slightly wider on the same rear wheel. The next change would be a two ring chain ring and derailleur. That would make things quite a bit more complicated or how about a 3 ring, they're cheap on ebay. With your single would imagine you wear out your smallest sprockets (10 tooth) and front ring often.
