Well, it took a year, but they are finally available in my area. I've had full proof and small batch. Both were impressive at the price. I've got bonded now. I'm impressed. Flavor is good. My sweet spot for bourbon is 90-95 proof, so its a bit hotter than I like to sip. I'll have to get a bottle of EW BiB, my gold standard cheap bourbon, to see how it compares. I suspect single barrel is going to be my favorite.

OF 100 proof was my gateway Old Forester as well. I decided to pick up some OF products after I tried the formerly Brown-Forman black top Early Times Bonded. I bought a bottle of 1910 after the 100 proof. Phenomenal juice! Dessert in a bottle! I can't believe I had been sleeping on Old Forester because the price points on the Whisky Row products made me hesitant. Next bottles I'm planning to pick up are the 1920 and 100 proof rye. I was really surprised by Old Forester! The dark sugar, coffee, chocolate, toffee, toasted marshmallow, graham cracker and tobacco notes are right up my alley on profile preferences. I may not wind up liking every single product from Old Forester but so far it's awesome! I don't think I'll ever get tired of my mash bill #1 favorites Eagle Rare and Stagg from Buffalo Trace though. I guess my top bottle list is going to be growing!

I put regular 4 roses in my undrinkable category. Small batch is just such a significant step up for me.

We just visited Makers last week. I had a pour at the bar and really enjoyed this one. We went on the “Remarkable Tour” (highly recommend). Also got to dip my own bottle of Hearts Release, so that’s pretty cool. 🥃

The Widow Jane Opal KY source is almost certainly heaven hill as that's who owns widow jane now.

Going to be looking for the Penelope for sure the 9 year was fantastic. Don’t look for anything over 150 so a bunch I won’t be looking for.

Seen various reviews on this bottle as with every bottle some will like it some not so much. I’m a cask strength MM fan both of them are something I’ll buy. The last wood series really didn’t come around my area I did get a BEP but other than that I haven’t seen or tried any of the first series. Which is unfortunate for me. But it is what it is in this hobby. If I see it I’ll get it but if I don’t then no big deal. Enjoy!!

I loved how different it was. I couldn't really compare it to any of the other license plate series bottles personally; I think your original comment of 'Cellar Aged Lite' was correct honestly. It's pretty close but still stands unique. But hey, that's just me.

You should side by side with 46CS. Isn't that 10 staves of French oak also? Is it the char level that's different?

Received my Heart Release yesterday, but haven't yet opened it. Regarding the synthetic cork of The Woodfinishing Series bottles, I've had to put a dab of Gorilla Glue (only on the very top of the cork) on one of my older bottles, after the same happened to me.

Sounds good. I have to try it, have to find out how much it is.🥃🇺🇸

They are competing with themselves. This is a cash grab bottle. Old Forester is simply capitalizing on the insanity of the FOMO bourbon market where everybody buys and flips but not enough actually open the dang bottles. Now we get price gouged stuff like this as a result.

Both are very, very tasty & both are somewhat expensive (Upstate NY) WRDO @ $64.79 out the door & the OF1910 @ $56.13. If I had to pick one, I would go with the OF1910 and at $8 cheaper, that's great for me. I actually just picked up another bottle of OF1910 tonight. Awesome review and 🥃Cheers!

I'll tell you why you won't get a bottle of Russell's Reserve 15... I was at the distillery the day they dropped it. Wild Turkey did a HORRIBLE job of managing the release. They gave out 600 tickets to people in line and then turned everyone else away. If you had a ticket, you stood in line until you got a chance to purchase your bottle. You pay, the employee bags up your bottle. At this point, a logical person would think they'd take the ticket and tear it up. WRONG! They put the ticket back into your bag and sent you on your way. You walk out, get back in line and get another bottle. I saw one couple get 8 bottles in a matter of minutes. Totally mismanaged by incompetents.

To my knowledge they're discontinuing OGD114 and it will allow for more expansion of bottles - like the Baker's 107 high rye. Probably just a 107 proof OGD.

I'm betting they finally discontinue OGD 114 and funnel that stuff into the more expensive Baker's High Rye.

I'm most excited for the Calumet because I'll probably actually see it and because they are consistently awesome. As much as I like Bernheim, I bet the Penelope will be great. Don't sleep on Redemption, nerd. They put out good stuff and the price is right.

American light whiskey could be just about any mashbill. What makes it "light" is that it's aged in used barrels rather than new, and can have higher barrel entry proofs.

As far as I understand Light whiskey has nothing to do with the mash bill. Bourbon must be distilled below 160 abv and can’t be entered into the barrel above 125. Light is distilled to 160-190 and can be barreled that high. Light may also not have the new oak requirement

The only one I would scour for is the OKI 15. Not even sure they sell that stuff up in Wisconsin. We’re just starting to see Fortuna and other Rare Character products.

So…107 proof, 7yr old OGD in a Baker’s bottle? Sign me up! Calumet 14, 15,16 and 17 is a constant reminder of why 1792 12yr is so hard to come by. I have the 10, Decadence and 13yr Widow Jane! Great job they did blending those bottles. 5 finishes on a 99 Rye? I’m sure that they are finishing this in separate parts and blending afterwards. Penelope is happy to have its pick of the MGP litter and not have to pay out the arse for it. Great video as always Trev! Happy hunting!!!
