Great images James. You really show how anything can become a photograph and that there are photographs everywhere.
This is true Mary. Thanks very much
An interesting mix of New and old dare James you got some lovely shots and your project sounds intriguing
Cheers Daz. Always good to have a project going
Interesting virtual walk around a place I've never visited. Enjoyed the history, as well as the documentary and art photography. 👍
It’s got a bad name for itself unfortunately but it really is an interesting place if you have an open mind. Cheers Simon
…always thinking about composition…even in the unlikeliest places…you are an excellent example to follow James…thanks!
Thank you very much Dave, appreciate it 👍👍
Some great documentary images in there James, really like the fountain ones. Also noted how a small change of position can really change street furniture pictures. Thanks.
Those fountains are rather photogenic. I treat my compositions same whatever genre. There’s more to play with an urban environment though. Thanks as always Keith (who’s not from Sterling)😁
The old Odeon is now Bradford live, intended to be a live music venue. Unfortunately there is an issue with the company who were meant to have the venue contract so it's a multi million pound development that is stood empty.
Thanks for sharing, I didn’t know that. It’s been under many a change for years, just hope it doesn’t become another redundant building in Bradford.
@@JamesRBurnsVLOG unfortunately, the powers that be have invested huge amounts of money into new builds and neglected the heritage of Bradford. The beautiful Mills are gradually falling into disrepair or worse still become victims of arson. The Bradford I knew as a child 30+ years ago is gradually fading away to make way for change that seems to be nothing more than a vanity project, trying to keep up with neighbouring towns like Leeds. I know the regeneration hasn't been welcomed by the Bradford people in the way the local council expected it to. If anything it has many Bradfordians angry and calling out for council leaders to step down.
The last time I went to Bradford was December 1986 to visit parents for Xmas. Took the old man to Valley Parade and was hit by the lack of atmosphere as I was a regular at Stamford Bridge at that time Have to say I hardly recognise anything in the video. Fair enough it was almost 40 years ago.
1986 was the year I went to see Depeche Mode at St. George’s hall! The last time I went to Valley Parade must have been around 87 maybe. Stu McCall and John Hendrie days. Around 40 years ago, the Odean was in full swing i believe. Brings a lot of nostalgia. Cheers 👍
James, your city images are every bit as good and your mountain/countryside images. It’s interesting to see how rapidly your urban photography has changed and grown. Well done, sir!
Very kind Stu. Thank you 👍👍😬
Is it going to be City of Culture next year James? Hence the inward investment... Still loving the channel. Many thanks.
Yes I think that’s the plan. There’s a hell of a lot going on. Just hope it sees the rewards
Hi James, you were lucky to get into the centre, must have been early morning! Went in yesterday and from Manchester road bottom to Kings lane 2.5hrs as you noted major rework to centre and road access. Hopefully it will be worth the pain. Good images as per usual, thanks James for sharing.
Funny you should say that. On my way to Saltaire this morning and Manc Rd is closed! It will make a difference no doubt but I’m dubious it will attract the enterprise it is after. Cheers Paul 👍
Oh a trip down memory lane for me! I left England in 1973 and made Canada my home but this area was ‘Scotland’ for me. Fishing in Loch Maben.. so many memories. Thank you!
Good to trigger the memories. I’ve been to Canada twice nearly 20 yr ago now, visiting Golden, Banff, Lake Louise, Vancouver to name a few. Thanks Alan
…a true gentleman amateur!
This is true. Thanks Dave
Lovely stuff, little lad seems happy too!
He was happy in stages😁Thanks Rob
@@JamesRBurnsVLOG Small wins!
Thanks for another entertaining video James. I've been following you for a couple of years now and you never disappoint. I don't normally leave comments as my normal viewing medium is TV and there doesn't seem to be a method for such interaction. However I'm on holiday from my own area which is Loch Lomondside, and I'm currently in Wales on my own adventure. This trip means using my laptop which in turn means I can say hello and keep up the good work, which is some of the best on CZcams at the moment.
Appreciate that Bill, thank you. Please continue to say hello and enjoy your trip
Glad you enjoyed your road trip to Scotland, it does rain a lot up here. Nice to see our current home town featured, you should have called in for a cup of Yorkshire tea. Cheers RattyinStirling.
I was lucky to get that sunshine at the start! You live in Stirling (not Sterling🙄) The rain welcomed us there but looks an interest place. Please tell it’s true you have Yorkshire Tea! Friends forever. Cheers Keith
Father & son making memories, not only on camera… ❤
This is very true. Thank you
Nice trip to spend some time with your son, some nice images and memories im sure. Heading to Loch Lomond myself in October for a week , first time in Scotland so really looking forward to that one. Hope your well, take care mate !
Thanks Lee and good to hear from you. Lovely place Loch Lomond and very worthy of real photo session, giving it more time than what I did. Make sure to carry on up the A82.
Keep going on to Glencoe next time. That place is beautiful, a photographers playground.
Yes it most certainly is. The A82 all the way and beyond Fort William, including Rannoch Moor is spectacular. Maybe another time with no junior. Cheers 👍👍
Brilliant . The young fella had a good time!
Cheers Dave. He most certainly did
|Mr B, i like the different set of images. Lockerbie and Dumbfries i know well, having worked there in the naughties.
Thanks Paul. Lockerbie is very quaint and Dumbfries very interesting and clean. All very short visits but managed to get a lot in
Well that was an unusual run out, pity the weather wasn't a little better for you, as always you get some shots. Why didn't you take the bigger kit and telephoto?
Cheers Iain. This was no dedicated photo trip but just a quick day and a half travel, visiting as much as possible whilst keeping the little one entertained. The GR was spot on for this. Plus… the telephoto has gone 😳
@@JamesRBurnsVLOG Did it get too heavy or just had enough?
@iaincphotography6051 I just wasn’t using it to be honest. It was very light but did on occasion have to hunt for focus and wasn’t blown away with the sharpness
@@JamesRBurnsVLOG Oh dear that doesn't sound. So what next lens wise?
Apologies for the misspelling of Stirling! Clearly thinking of the currency when editing the video. I feel silly !
Don’t worry about it , it’s easily done, I’ve done it myself & I’m Scottish lol
@janice506 I also have Scottish blood but started to question it after that bloomer!😁 Thanks Janice
Correction: its not "wet rain", its "Scotch mist" ... and Stirling, not Sterling the currency 🧐 Your pics of Lockerbie were a bit better that I thought you might get under the circumstances. All in all, a nice circuit for a couple of days. And little 'un seems to have enjoyed it too.
Arrrghhh! Can’t believe I spelt it wrong ! Anyway, Scotch mist sounds much better. Yeah, Lockerbie was difficult, just glad I got to visit. Cheers Wil 👍
Huddersfield? have you got any images of that wonderful Emley Moor transmitting tower?? I always look for it when on the train to York. Magnificent structure :D
Not sure I’ve got any shots of that never ending spire on the moors! Sure I’ve a few of Castle Hill. Cheers Jon👍👍
And all that will be left from us are memories.
Life is a journey to build up those memories to keep passing on to the next generation. Cheers 👍
Excellent entertainment. Thank you. 🙂
Cheers Gary. Purely for entertainment value 👍
Boy's roadtrip, nice one mate.
Indeed it was. Cheers Mikey 👍👍
Erm, it's STIRLING. Nice moody shots. Next time go into the Trossachs. It is the Lake District in miniature.
What did I say? I should make a point of doing a couple o days in the Trossachs, you’re right. Cheers
Loch Lomond shots my favourites this time. Is that you on the piano?
Thanks Geoff. I can’t even the fiddle never mind a piano!
Wales next time James? Thanks for taking me to a scenic part of the UK, nice one.
Cheers Steve. It’s certainly an option
James!Hi, Love it~unreal trip!
Pleased that you enjoyed it 👍 Thank you
James R Burns Photography, can we be friends
It’s unlikely
Another country.... Lancashire?
We had to pass through it as well😳 After that it got better
I love that you are taking local “mundane” images, which in reality are great pieces. Thank you for sharing and all the best!
Thank you Victor, there’s a lot of interest out there
Great vid
Cheers Colin 👍
I feel like the only person I know who does not mind blue skies for landscape photography! Here in the UK, I just welcome sunny weather for some lovely colours 😆. Your shots did work brill in B&W though James
That’s makes at least 2 of us Sarah👍Many Thanks. Fingers crossed for more blue skies
Please do more around Saltaire, I really need to visit.
That sounds like a deal to me👍
Every day's a good day for black and white photography 😊😊 lovely shots as always, i always leave my previsual set to black and white so i know straight away what i need to do
Thanks Christine. Indeed you are correct and especially effective when the blue skies make an appearance. The monochrome profile definitely helps 👍👍
Your right of course blue sky's all the way 😊
Beautiful images.
Thank you Darren 👍👍
Lovely stuff, cracking photos and a glimpse into a fine part of the world. Cheers James….
Cheers Rob. Langdale is beautiful, there’s no denying that
Beautiful as always James, thank you for sharing.
Thanks very much 👍👍
Some superb mono images there Mr Burns. I found out the secret many years ago of using mono for Landscape and use it most of the time these days. Given how quiet it was on the road, I guess it was pretty early in the morning. Thank you, its always great to watch these.
Thanks Paul. It’s the way to go for me with B&W, although a little bit of colour in my life helps 👍😬 It was early but the car park was packed, mainly all heading the opposite way to me
Well done, James. Another batch of lovely images ... you make it seem so easy. Might you get more useful contrast if (in Lightroom) you add a little dehaze then raise shadows and drop blacks. Or is that not your game??
Thanks Will. I don’t use LR but its certainly an option. Pretty much arrive at similar results however with a good S curve etc etc
Superb work, thanks for sharing this ‼️
Thanks very much, my pleasure 👍👍
Some brilliant pictures in there James. I used B&W extensively when I shot film and loved it, I was once described as a 'B&W snob' for saying that I thought it was a better medium for Landscape. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Keith. I could live with that, being called a snob for those reasons 👍😬
Wonderful images James. Your hike brought back some great memories for me.
Thanks Ray and good to hear I retriggered the memories
Fabulous black and white images, James. I always love how you present your final gallery showcasing your wonderful images of the amazing places you visit, all set against that beautiful music.
Thank you very much Mary. I do like to have an end gallery to round it all up
Cheers James, it’s your friend Sean in Atlanta! Every time I go out to photograph, which is usually daily if it’s not raining, I always shoot in colour. Many times I have the intentions of shooting in black and white, but I guess I am stuck on colour. But, I appreciate artists like yourself taking the time to photograph in black-and-white. When I post them to certain sites that I feel comfortable doing, the viewers are pretty much split down the middle as to black-and-white versus colour. I just bought an actual red filter to screw onto my lens instead of using the digital filter in the camera, but it’s a whole different look and I’m not so sure I am jiggy with it. I saw you the other day out shooting with Mali. He always seems to be in such a happy mood! I have a confession to make about my black and white photography. I love to see those high contrast images, but with my OLYMPUS EM5 MIII, I can shoot in JPEG and simply lift the shadow with one control. And so, I end up lifting all the shadows out from being black… Is a “Fell“ just another name for a mountain? Thanks for another smashing video and I hope you and your family are well! Sean
Hi Sean. Black and White photography does not appeal to everyone I get that. Mali is a very interesting character for sure and I’m out with him again on Saturday! Yes, a fell is an old Nordic term that means mountain and hill, specify land that is above the tree line. Happy shooting and many thanks
@@JamesRBurnsVLOG Thanks!
Or red filter... old scool :)
