PCT 2024 Day 26-27: Illness ZERO & Ebbets Pass
7/28 Day 26 - ZERO on trail. Face swelled up, sore throat, cough, headache. Took benedryl.
7/29 Day 27 - My face was still very swollen/puffy in the morning. I took some Benadryl and then hiked about 7 miles to Ebbett's Pass and then hitched a ride to South Lake Tahoe with a German couple in an RV. They dropped me off at the Mellow Mountain hostel where I booked another bunk. On 7/30, I headed home for more ZERO days. I took the South Lake Tahoe Shuttle to the Reno airport and then flew back to Portland where my awesome husband picked me up. I am ill with a runny nose, headache, sore throat, and coughing. My ears are plugged and that made it uncomfortable on the plane. After several days, the symptoms have subsided. i am planning on heading back to the trail.

I'm still seeing lots of hikers but I think it's due to the Tahoe Rim Trail overlapping with the Pacific Crest Trail. Tomorrow it will be just the PCT. There were lots of fields of wildflowers in the mor...

I live about a 1 hr drive from Carson Pass or Lake Tahoe. I go to Carson Pass year round for hiking in the spring, summer, and fall, and snowshoeing in the winter. I enjoyed your video. I recognized many of the areas you recorded. Why would someone put their bear bag over you tent? That seems so strange. Thank you for sharing your trip.
Actually their bear bag was there first. It wasnt over my tent but it was nearby. No problems...but I saw Marmots in the morning running around.
Keep up the good work! Let nothing keep ya down! Everything passes!! ❤❤❤
I was back on trail in a week. Videos to come out soon.
@@PushAdventures Lookin forward!!!
We were so close to there last month! From Reno, headed south along the east side of the Sierras... driving to Anaheim.. so close, but not close enough...

@@PushAdventures Thank you for your reply. I should have asked this in my first comment, but now that you've been using your Plex Solo for awhile now, how are you liking it? About the only downside I see is what you already mentioned, that you have plenty of headspace if you're sitting right next to the trekking poles, but otherwise the tent wall slants inward. I have a Big Agnes Copper Spur UV UL2 which I love, it's roomy and bombproof, but I'm going on a 40 mile hike at high altitude, lots of elevation gain, and potential wind which makes setting up a double walled tent more difficult at the end of a hard day, not to mention that with stakes and bag it weighs 3 lbs 5 oz, so a Plex Solo might be the way to go on my next trip. Any thoughts?
The Plex Solo is lightweught and therefore meets my needs. I am typically laying down and just sit in the middle to change clothes. The con for this tent is that you have to stake it out, so not every campsite works and the rainbow door sucks since you have to open it all the way to go thru. You can tie a loop of cord on the end our your string you use to put rocks in it when you can't stake it out or you can lay the stake with a rock on it. If you are concerned about pitching it in rocky places or on cement pads, then you might prefer a freestanding tent. I pitch this tent in almost all locations.
Nice adventure. You might want to come to Brazil we have quite a different landscape down here
That would be amazing!
NIce video. I enjoyed watching it. Thanks for sharing. 👍1

Yeah we had it mostly to ourselves due to rain.
Beautiful place. Nice video. Thanks for sharing. 👍2
Curious, how many weeks on trail before you feel tired and need a break? You just seem to be the energizer bunny

What a beautiful hike! The waterfall is nice and the scenery is gorgeous 😊
Good morning
Beautiful and terrifying at the same time 😊
Absolutely beautiful!! Were there many people When you did this? What time of year? And what was weather like? Permits? @brittanywolter we need to do this!!
We went Nov 2nd. No permit needed. We hired a shuttle to drop us off and then hiked to the grotto to take the shuttle back to the watchman campground. November is the shoulder season so the park is less crowed. There werent many people on the West Rim Trail until you are at the part that merges with Angels Landing.
Beautiful park! It's great you were able to camp inside the park. Beautiful footage of tour time there! 👣
I love so many parts of it but every road I take in s Utah amazes me. That's why I live here. 😊 TY
It’s not “Capital” Reef as your headline implies but rather “Capitol” Reef. There is a mountain that is shaped like the Capitol Bldg….hence its name
Thanks for the tip. I will fix it when I have good service.
We did the wash in 2018. It was beautiful 😊 Capitol Reef is my favorite Utah park 😊 Great share!
