Where is ancient box ?
Could you tell me how to play the stall mu as garde?
Set up a board of Gardevoir, Flutter, Ralts, Ralts, Ralts, Drifloon. Attack with Gardevoir with a dark energy and if Ralts gets gusted just use its attack to bring it back to the bench. Save your Turos in case you start with something bad or need to reset your energy.
Raging bolt is def better then Miradon in my opinion
Theyre definitely in the same tier to me. I just think Miraidon targets the more popular decks which is why I put it ahead
I think people just don’t know how to play the Grady match up with raging bolt. I think it’s honestly more even.
If you don't have any techs for the Gardy matchup then they just outrade you with one prize Pokemon. They can even KO ogerpon without Charm on Drifloon by using monkey.
@@CiaranTCG yeah what you’re suppose to do is limit the amount of easy 2 prize on the board. Lost vac drifloom/ boss garde. Also use baby sandy shooks to clean up little guys
If you play the matchup correctly it’s not as bad as people make it out to be.
Target kirlias really early. If they can only get two ralts in play turn one and you boss up and ko an early ralts/kirlia. You have a lot of momentum then in the game.
You’re welcome btw I’ll be starting a raging bolt masterclass soon $50 per person
Ahhh just what I needed to farm in Chicago
(All jokes, I don’t want anyone from Chicago taking a pic of me after I go x-3)
I believe in you, go farm Gshen for me please!
Hellaa cardsorts 🔥
Hi Ciaran! Hmm.. From experience I would say Raging Bolt is on even matchup with Charizard. It's not a bad matchup as long as it has baby sandy shocks then just keep on knocking out charmanders and pidgeys early.
I'd say if Raging Bolt draws perfect it will always beat Charizard, but Radiant Zard becomes super tough to deal with. The Zard player can also go Counter Catcher Unfair Stamp and it becomes hard to recover
Tbh i think Drago is underrated. Ive been playing a lot of Dragapult lately and its the one deck ive struggled against. Even tho CPao has a "bad" Drago match up, its been the only deck that feels like i usually have a solid chance to beat them. Ive tried messing with lost box as well but my draws with it on live are really bad and it feels really underwhelming.
I find one of the big problems with Drago is that it is susceptible to bricking as well. I need to use the VSTAR power half my games just to stabilize. I also just don't think it can consistently beat Gardevoir right now.
Fortunately Gholdy has Kyurem now which can beat Lost Box easily I hope
I don't know how much it improves the matchup. You still need Cologne, and Greninja would get you 2 prizes. I'd have to test it though, maybe that 3rd prize is the difference
I use a combination of the Gardy builds. I don't see any use for Creselia now. Unfair Stamp is too good. Im between Zard and Gardy. Challenges I might lean Gardy, but for Cups Zard might be the way. Also i love 8 Psychic Energy in Gardy but that's just me.
I was actually thinking of just running Henry's build with Unfair Stamp, but in best of 1 I generally lean towards consistency. Without Drifloon I've felt fine with 7 Psychic.
Same, I prefer gardy and charizard decks overall. Regidrago has grown on me. I feel the same way about excluding cresselia, I've picked mimikyu and some other options that work well in the deck. I'm waiting for the duskull line tho, Charizard might just take over.
Question, how to deal with regidragi with gardi?
Trade positively with Drifloon and Scream Tail. Tail can KO Squawk and Drifloon kos regidrago and Ogerpon easily. You can munki 30 to ogerpon and not even need a bravery charm. Also look to Munkidori the damage counters they place with Phantom dive
Miraidon definitely isnt a bad matchup for lost box if you use the bear well
I feel like Ursuluna is Miraidon's biggest enemy. I won a game at NAIC with 0 Archeops by just using Bear lol
@CiaranTCG yup for sure. My friend at locals plays miraidon alot. Last time we battled I played hedricks exact list and beared him 6times for the set lol
Hyper aroma really helps Gholdy set up
I think it could be good for the deck, but then you lose out on the Catcher Cologne package. Might still be worth it, but I need to test it out!
How do you beat gardi with regidrago
Tech in some Jamming Towers and/or Vacuums
Turn 2 Phantom Dive coupled with a Prime Catcher can handicap the Gardy deck a lot. So push to get Primal Dive and go from there. Vaccuum and Jamming Tower are also good.
@@jokur3 do u mean phantom dive in so where do u put the damage
@@animeandrice9664 phantom dive and it is dependent on what's on the board where you put the counters. I tend to put all on Kirlia but if there is an attacker on board put enough counters on it so that gardevoir cannot place counters is also a good move. But I hate to say it but it depends.
@@jokur3 my problem is if u put it all on kirlia and it evolves to gardi that’s bad for u and if u put it on an attacker they can monkey then still use the attacker or charm it so I’m thinking it might be correct to use noiverns attack or goodra
what do you think of Ancient Box?
I think it is pretty underrated right now. If your meta has a lot of Bolt and Lost Box it is in a good spot, but the rest of its matchups are a bit shaky.
Great stuff as always! I admire your optimism that Zard is favored into Lugia.
Unfair Stamp plus Counter Catcher Archeops goes hard. If you play Enhanced you can also get around Legacy, stop a Gift, or get rid of an energy off a cinno (when they have 2) in combination with KO on chops. If Lugia draws perfect it will win though, but we know how rare that is lol
my left ear really enjoyed this episode!
Glad the left ear got some quality content!
thanks for your thoughts on the meta game! the audio during the decklist portion is panned all the way to the left, making it weird to listen in headphones, but still quality content regardless.
My bad, I don't know what happened when I recorded. I'll do my best to fix that going forward
I don’t know about Raging Bolt being a good matchup against Dragapult. I usually run through it setting up the bench attacks finishing it off with bosses orders pulling 4 prizes. That deck usually bench 4 2prizers at a time
Raging Bolt just KOs the Pults super efficiently, and they have the Switching carts to take their Pokemon out of the 4 prize turns as long as they save them. I find Dragapult has trouble stringing together KOs as well. If pult needs to take a 1 prize KO they can just use Sandy Shocks as well to force a Boss from the Pult player
Only thing better than new Shift Gear is new CiaranTCG
You're always a real one Charles
Don’t beak Charles
This was a fantastic video! So much good information! Picked up gardy recently and it feels fun to play
Thank you! Deck is honestly so fun and rewarding when you pull off big plays
I’ve watched this about a dozen times, soo much information to take in
Appreciate you driving up the view count!
Hey, thanks for the video!! your guides helped me a lot and still helps! hugs from Brazil!!!
Happy the video helped, obrigado for watching!
Just getting into Pokemon and got this pre-con. Thank you so much this video was extremely helpful!
Glad you enjoyed!
I really appreciate guides like these; my locals told me that a lot of players (especially new ones) gave up on playing Gardevoir because of how complex the deck can get, but your guide encourages me even more to play and stick with the deck.
The deck is definitely intimidating, but super rewarding once you get the hang of it. Glad the video encouraged you to try the deck more!
I just need coaching 😂 I can’t play right. Would love to get better
Been playing Gardi , my big challenge is my pace of play, not intentional but just takes me too long to evaluate each step from setup to sequence of attacks.
Honestly, I still struggle with that too sometimes. It's a great deck though for practicing sequencing, planning, and pace. Maybe keep practicing it on Live/Locals and then when you're ready bring it to a cup or challenge!
New to playing the tcg I been playing on tcglive for a couple of months, what is the app or program you use to play that was use in this video?
Ptcgsim.online
I enjoy learning about how to play certain decks, and would like to see a lost box deck guide in the future. My favorite deck is pidgeot control! Keep up these awesome videos!
Thank you! I think Lost Box would be a good deck to make a guide on. I'll see if I have someone in my network who can help me break it down!
@@CiaranTCG that would be really cool! Thank you so much! 🙂🙂🙂
I do like the arven's combo with aroma + evo for that early gardy
Yeah that is a pretty nifty combo. Arven for aroma feels so good whenever you have the ralts down
Definitely a must watch.
Thank you 😀
I love how specific and yet so broad your guides are. Been enjoying em all, especially the Chien-Pao one since Chien-Pao Baxcalibur is my favorite deck! I'd love to see more of your collaborations with different top tier players Ciaran, those videos would be awesome!
Glad you've been enjoying the content. I'm very fortunate to have a network with so many top players who are willing to share their knowledge with us. Definitely going to continue with the guides!
Great video for new season coming up, even with the changes I’m hyped to start the new season with Garde !
Thank you! Gardy is definitely a good deck to start of the new season with. It should dominate cups and challenges!
This makes a lot of sense
I enjoyed the in depthness of this video SO much. I would love to see a live game or 2 where you and whoever the person doing the video with you talk over the plays while you play the game. AND MY FAVORITE DECK IS CHIEN PAO (surprise surprise) Outside of the stuff to enter for the coaching session, I really really like the content you produce. Even though this one is a 2 hour long behemoth and is insanely valuable to people getting into or struggling a little bit with gardevoir, its just as impactful quality wise as the other videos you've made that I have seen. You're one of the goats of content for sure.
I appreciate it Eddie! Sometimes I'm worried I make these guides too long, but it seems like people enjoy it. I try and do my best to have structure/timestamps so people can find the content relevant to them. I do like the idea of playing a live game or 2 with the person I do the guide with as a complement to the guide. I will try and do that in the future. And not surprised your favourite deck is Cpao, you are a fellow man of immaculate taste!
Hey Eddie, you won the giveaway! Just dm me on Twitter and I'll set up the coaching session for you!
Thank you for being the biggest gardevoir believer
Congratz, couldnt ask for a better video. ❤ I have been investing in relearning my beloved Gardy since I stopped after rotation. I have been loving the deck and this amazing guide will help a lot! I don't know if I missed it during the video, but would like to ask if with the unfair stamp version you go first or second when going blind. Keep up the amazing work, and once again thank you for the amazing guide! ❤
Thanks Ricardo! I usually pick to go second blind since I can supporter and use TM: EVO. With Aroma build I pick first blind.
@@CiaranTCG Thank you! :D
One deck that I find super annoying to play against with Gardy is Ancient Box. The fact that moon can 1 shot Gardy at any point is super annoying, and you're only taking 1 prize at a time.
Ancient Box is definitely a really hard matchup for this deck. You have to hope they just brick off disruption eventually.
it's crazy how a gardevoir illustration( the normal illustration ) that's in the supposed BDIF is also super similar to another gardevoir that was good in 2019 ish
Like the Tag Team?
Nice
While your other decklist videos have been fantastic, this is on a whole other level. The amount of depth that you and Josh dove to is beyond what I've ever seen on CZcams. I love it, and I can't wait for more content! I think that Gallade should be considered more heavily in Gardevoir. It can cherry-pick Boss at the end of the game, and it finds key pieces when you need them. It can't be one-shot by Amp, it's a strong attacker into many matchups, and it helps a ton agaisnt Devo in the mirror. TM:Devo is now the strongest win condition in Gardevoir. It makes your Chien-Pao matchup almost unloseable (the only way to lose is to brick or get hit with turn 2 Cologne Prime Catcher onto the only 2 Kirlia). It also swings your Charizard, Dragapult, and Mirror matchups heavily in your favor. With Devo, you can often force your opponent to bench lock themself and then remove all of their threats at once. Naturally, you need double Munkidori in order to reliably set this up.
Glad this video is exceeding expectations! Gallade is interesting, because you usually need to use up a Kirlia on a Garde so to sacrifice another one for Gallade kind of limits your draw, even if Gallade is consistency. I do think gallade is underrated as a 1 prize attacker, and it has utility. I'll have to play more with it. TM:Devo is for sure the best innovation with the deck. I want to play around more with henry chao's build since I think it takes advantage of the card the best!
I like Henry Chao's build a lot, but I don't think it goes far enough. I think that ultimately, Devo is such a strong strategy that you don't really need any backup plan other than CC Iono Scream Tail. I cut Greninja (lack of bench space in a double munki deck) and Cresselia (because I like Gallade better) and added in Klefki and Gallade to boost the LZ, Miraidon, and Bolt matchups. I also cut Heavy Ball for 3rd Munkidori, which makes finding a turn 1 or 2 Munki + attach way easier so that you can have a turn 3 double munki most games. To make Munki easier to set up, I also run 3 Dark 2 Vessel, because I find that a turn 1 or 2 Munkidori can allow you to easily set up double Munki turn 3 and proceed to wipe your opponent's board. I also cut the cape for a second Devo, since you really never need the cape at all, and you can't afford to prize Devo in many matchups. You won't usually be taking prizes before the Devo turn, so having just one copy can really hurt your gameplan. Double devo also has the upside of sometimes just winning the game agaisnt Chien-Pao or Charizard if they're not expecting it. Gardy ex is just as good of a 2-prize attacker as a caped Scream Tail most of the time, and the double Devo means you don't ever have to go through a stage 2 ex. Enhanced Hammer is actually very important in my Spread Gardy list, as it allows you to get rid of Mist energy on the devo turn. You also always want to call first with this deck, no matter the matchup, because the Klefki lock turn 1 and the extra attachment can be crucial. Because you're calling first, you also need Hyper Aroma to set up consistently. Basically, the logic is that you win practically every game you set up, no matter what your opponent draws, so rather than trying to brick your opponent with Stamp, you might as well just set up more because you have to call first in many matchups. Here's my list, if you're interested. You could definitely cut 1 Turo for Pal Pad, since you're running Gallade. A 3rd Ultra Ball and 3rd Counter Catcher would also be really great, but I'm not sure what to cut. Pokemon (19) 2 Gardevoir ex 1 Gallade 4 Kirlia 4 Ralts 1 Manaphy 3 Munkidori 1 Scream Tail 2 Flutter Mane 1 Klefki Energy (10) 7 Basic Psychic Energy 3 Basic Darkness Energy Trainers (31) 4 Arven 4 Iono 2 Professor Turo’s Scenario 1 Boss’s Orders 4 Buddy-Buddy Poffin 2 Ultra Ball 2 Super Rod 2 Counter Catcher 1 Hyper Aroma 1 Nest Ball 2 Earthen Vessel 2 Technical Machine: Devolution 1 Technical Machine: Evolution 2 Artazon
This is a really interesting take on the deck. I need to play around more with Gallade as I can definitely see it being super strong right now. I'll give your list a try on Live, thanks for sharing it!
Does Chien-Pao pick blind first or second into this format? It used to blind pick first, but now the line seems to be getting more difficult to discern.
Always blind first, the deck wants to attack asap
THIS IS AMAZING
Thanks Richard :)
No way that this content is actually free. Loved the Chien Pao deep dive and looking forward to this one.
I'm a big proponent that there should be high quality free competitive content for people trying to get better! Glad you enjoy my content :)
What game are they playing?
Like on the simulator? ptcgsim.online/
Ngl I'm glad there's a video where it goes into depth on what to do in certain scenarios and match ups (especially with the guides). Also, i would like to see videos like this but with other decks to also know the in and outs of it. And to finish it off my favorite deck would probably be lost box atm especially when I was playing with the superaffective glasses to hit for 3x weakness 😂
The supper effective glasses went crazy. Was so funny seeing Minior or Tropius take one shots
Love this guide, was looking to pick gardy back up (Might have to now). Keep up this high quality competiitive content. Could be kind of cool to see a video looking at worlds format. Also, maybe a guide into how players should approch a new format!
Thank you! I definitely want to make more content, and approaching a new format is a great idea!
Thank you! Another relevant and timely video that truly helps people learn the game.
Thank you, helping people get better is what my content is all about :)
Ciaran always got the knowledge. Love these types of videos - the Chien Pao vid really got me into playing seriously. Glad we could play R9 of NAIC!
