Since Aizens soulenergy alone is way stronger than this of Madara, and since it is directly linked to his power, the orbs can not be much powerful than the person who use them, means he never were able to even hurt Aizen with it. Since hurting a Shinigami first is only possible with a Zanpakuto or Kido technique and second even when we considering the Orbs as kinda Kido, the user need to have MORE power than his opponent to hurt him, when the energy of the one is bigger as the other ones energy that is the only way to hurt a Shinigami even with a Zanpakuto or a Kido technique.

Okay, I was already a huge Bleach fan, had no issue with it being multidimensional in powerscaling, especially with the feats like Ichigos fullbring Bankai breaking out of pocket dimensions and stuff, but the whole "Mugetsu needing to cut through time to harm Aizen" Is actually brilliant. If Aizen exists in multiple places in time, a wound in one instance (such as the current one in the World of the living) wouldnt remain since the other presences of Aizen would remain unharmed and the "wounded" one would just revert back to conform to the majority of his existences state. Mugetsu WOULD need to cut through every instance of Aizen throughout dimensions to permanently cripple him physically, and the fact that even then it wouldnt have succeeded without Kido binding his weakened form to the physical world just fits perfectly with that. Also explains why even Yhwach would struggle to kill him XD

I've always stuck with scaling them at 5d, and even then, most still won't accept it after showing them the clear analogy Kubo gave through Aizen himself.
