Therein lies the problem. Our Government actively try to shut down investigations of our ancient history ( unlike other countries). So you will never get archaeologists in Government employment going against the official narrative as it is career suicide. So why do you think the Government wants to take no interest in our pre Maori history?

I agree. What is the Government afraid of ? Archaeology & history is what it is. People like to know the facts. They'd find it interesting. In this blog I have those of Maori descent give me the most abuse. Why is that? What are they fearful of ? The only thing I can think of is that the thought of a previous (white) civilisation whom they vanquished and usurped their culture which we today know as Maori culture, perhaps hurts their mana in the sense that all of Maori culture we see today was in fact taken from someone else.

I agree. I am an amateur and can only make a calculated deduction in the face of absolutely a wall of silence from the Government and Universities. I long for the day when there is a ministry created to pull in experts Globally to solve this question. The nay sayers are almost without exception Maori.....I wonder why?

Even the Maori oral history says there were people in NZ when they got there (watch the doco) There are lots of examples of European culture in NZ but they're ignored, destroyed or kept secret. Why would any government put a suppression order on info until the 2060's if they didn't want anyone knowing about it? It's not just NZ either, there are plenty of examples of governments hiding or destroying evidence of previous people's/cultures from us.

@@turehunz342 Melanesians were/are short, blonde and blue eye Ded, with some instances of green eyes. Like the Polynesians the Melanesians also traveled across the pacific. Melanesians at one time also inhabited parts of Australia. It isn't hard to imagine they travelled to new Zealand a few thousand years ago either by chance or accident. so in my theory the short haired blonde people are actually Melanesians. the light skin thing wasn't really around until the Europeans landed in New Zealand and they became infused within Māori folklore. At least that's my belief.

Yes, it is a bit of guess work but with the variety of megalithic structures around the planet, plus New Grange and Knoweth stones being identical, I guess this is a bridge to cross. Be great to have Irish Archaeologists visit NZ in an official capacity to help us.
