I am into a1994 evinrude 70...I don't even see the bolt holding the linkage.. like Like a pin...?

What do I do if my motor has 3 wires going to it? Blue. Green. And black. Older evinrude that has never had a relay system. It was born that way from the factory and Ranger.

That top screw you took out, on top of the front bore of the carb. There is a small jet in there yet.

I have the same engine, will run for 30-40 seconds then lean pop and die. fresh fuel, did the sea foam shock, helped some but still lean pops and dies

1970's 75hp Chrysler same style pump, biggest take away don't run motor at all without water....Seloc manual has pics of impeller destruction with only 30 seconds & 1 minute running without water...Stuff Nightmares are made of 😅

At 13:30, you connect the second two grounds, not the main ground. Where do they go? U mention to the cdi? I changed a starter recently and a little black cable that I don’t know where it came from and I think it’s one of those cables your mentioning

Just found this video brother. I also just bought a 1974 robalo 230 center console.. literally the exact same boat with some of the same exact problems and upgrades that youre looking to make. Would love to get in touch mine has a 2 stroke 225 suzuki on the back runs fine so far. Aside from upgrades and cosmetic fixes I have 2 issues i need to replace the bilge pumps also the internal gas tank supposedly has a crack in it. Any idea what my plan for the fix of that should be?

have a 115 hp 1991Johnson and I always have a lot of trouble turning it on but when it finally turns on it works perfect and when I turn it off again I struggle to turn it on. Does anyone know what to do or what it can be?

My dude I've got a 70 hp 1987 Evinrude I haven't pulled it all apart like this I think was stored right but when I put the hood on it doesn't want to start it also has a steady alarm that activates after about 3 minutes of idling I think it's the overheat alert but guess I'll start replacing the senor and what no if you could drop a link for where we can get parts for this motor that would be awesome

Awesome video! I have the same motor on a 80s model trihull 16 ft boat. Question… Since I’ve had the boat, I cannot get it to start without starting fluid for the life of me. But after it starts, it runs great! I had a boat mechanic clean all carbs and replace gaskets. I also replaced the fuel pump and filter. It’s currently pulling very clean gas with appropriate oil mixture. I previously suspected it was water in gas tank… but confirmed that’s not it. I’m priming the bulb and I know the carbs are filling like they are supposed to. It just never wants to run without a couple of sprays of starting fluid (or dare I say carb cleaner). Any suggestions??? Thanks in advance! Edit: I also replaced primer solenoid without any difference. I hear the clicking that you hear when pushing in the key.

As far as the valves and rotating assembly are these motors any different than a regular sbc?

Ahh second video, I see that stringer is rotten. Off with the deck. FYI its ok to do the transom in layer if one big piece is too much just overlap about 4-6 inches in 3 pieces. Nice job. Also I see you are placing the cap back on. I would recommend waiting until you finish the stringers and connect the stringers to the transom as a solid piece.

Transom rot.... stringers are likely rotten too through my experience rebuilding old boats. I am on my third boat now and if the transom is mush then then you should chase and see how much of the stringers you need to replace because usually they are connected. My first boat was a 20ft grady white weekender walk around cuddy. I started same as you did cut the rear cap. THen guys was telling me those stringer are likly bad. I did not want to hear but it was true. They were rotten all the way to the cabin.

Man, that was cool. I bought a 1978 stinger 75. Lots of stuff was missing. Someone saw fit to sever and remove about 4ft of the 8 strand control loom. All that is there for the trim motor, are the blue and green wires, and from the trim switch, and 1 blue 1 green, and 1 brown going to 1 end of a connector. No signs of relays anywhere. Project is going well. I subscribed to watch the progress. What’s your opinion on the construction of this boat. I’m asking because I acquired a 1079 R230 Robalo myself. The whole idea of the foam filled boat had me worried about trapped water. Anyway it’s my project boat and has a good transom. I would like to modernize it and plan or remove the bow rail permanently. I pulled the center console and deck and found the 107 gallon fuel tank had corrosion holes in it. So I then pulled the tank. That was a big pain. I have a new tank fabricated. So I guess what I’m trying to say is you need to check yours. I would like to talk more with you about this and I can share my pictures with you if you would like them.

Thanks, mate. Great video. Mine is a 1978 johnson 75 stinger, and its only taken me 38 years to find one. Its coming along well but the carbies really need cleaning.
