    Most people know about the David Austin roses, but if you come across #2 ranked Dee-lish, buy it immediately. I got one for half price that was half dead....2 weeks after I planted it, it had tons of new growth and started blooming incredibly fragrant beautiful pink blooms. Only 3 weeks later, about to flush again and has grown over a foot and is incredibly healthy.They are even widely available at Lowe's and Walmart which is where I got mine. It has outperformed most of my David Austin's.

    Hello Ken, Meilland has outstanding scented roses and very big beautiful flowers. Line Renaud is already 13 years in my garden as a standard tree rose and had enjoyed her scent every year. Pacific Blue is a unique colour rose and the scent is a plus. I’m eyeing on Meteor, I like the rose structure and energetic colour. The number 3 PAOK already had flowers in my garden and I was able to smell it just yesterday, I do like the scent. The other no. 3 Boscobel is just having leaves planted it as bare root end of May. For your number one, Wollerton Old Hall, I can check it in one of our garden Center but Yves Piaget, I just can imagine it. Well done Ken! It’s not easy to choose top 20 roses for scent.🌹🌹🌹

      Hi Gemma , yes picking 20 of my most fragrant rose proved quite challenging as most of my roses are fragrant. There were some that would have been on this list but unfortunately they weren’t in flower at the time of making this video. The only reason I purchased line renaud, pacific blue and annisete was all thanks to JayJay visiting the eastcroft nursery and giving his opinions. Meiland roses has become my favourite rose for scent and lasting blooms. My next order will be Mary Ann, lady capri and everything Meiland. Their scent is heavenly and smell like perfume. Pacific Blue and Yves Piaget are new ones on me. I'd love to say I agree with all of your choices Ken, but as you say we are all different - anyway this video is about your favourites not anyone else's. Scent is not a big deal for me since my sense of smell is ... sub-optimal. I go more for colour and shape. I have a totally different take on Meteor and The Poet's Wife - my Meteor is a new bare root and I would not describe the blooms as "bright and vibrant" - I find them dull, dark and quite ugly - but maybe as sometimes happens they will change as the bush develops - they do last a long time as cut roses though. Or it may be like the 2 Dublin Bays I have in my front garden - one is bright red and the other a darker red, although they are supposed to be the same rose. I have said before that my example of The Poet's Wife is straggly and more like groundcover - I will admit that maybe if I spent a iit more time and effort putting supports in I might think differently, but that has nothing to do with the scent and colour, which are both very good as far as I can judge. So maybe I am to blame. Anyway, thanks for showing us your choices, they were interesting and gave useful insights about each rose.

      Hi Nik, yes I was surprised you didn’t mentioned Meteor. I find it’s such interesting rose, something different from the usual colours pinks , red, yellow..etc. yes all I agree poets wife the growth is little straggly and without support it would be disastrous to look at. A very good example for instance, you and Linda’s sweet honey smells just like what it says, yet mine and jays jays has little or no fragrance. I specifically pointed out that this was my personal favourite just to protect myself being harassed.

    Beautiful roses Ken. Raspberry cupcake has v intense colour. Looks healthly. Keep us updated with its performance, how many blooms it puts out through the whole season, then I may consider it next spring.

    Nice Ken. I liked your koko loko. Also I see why you’re not so happy with your Penelope Lively, I don’t know what’s going on there. I know they say to leave alone for first year or two but I have to say I’d have been tempted to cut that back early doors. My raspberry cupcake was doing similar to your Penelope Lively with weak spindly growth. So I cut it right back. Mine is yet to bud and is still pretty weak! Yours on the contrary seems to be doing very well indeed. :)

      Thanks Jay, yes Penelope was a huge disappointment for me. Why on earth did I go buy another . I did exactly what most people would do and just light prune in the first year. My raspberry parfuma for me is a more superior rose.

    I think that's false advertising Ken, putting 20 in the title and then only showing us the first 10! We shall await part 2! How does Lady Gardener compare with Lady of Shalott overall, not just fragrance?

      😜 Hi Nik, I think they’re are on par, both excellent roses. Can’t really pick. The whole video put together to all most at 45 minutes long. For most people it would be too long to watch on a phone. Can’t imagine anyone would spend that amount of time watching something uninteresting. So had to make last minute adjustments.

      @@kenvoong5977 What do you mean "UNINTERESTING"?! How can anyone find a video of roses uninteresting? But yes, you're probabIly right to split it up into more manageable chunks. Do people watch these videos on phones? I need a big screen to really appreciate the glorious flowers.

      Hi Gav, are the stems on BmeS strong enough to support the flowers or is it a floppy rose? I am a bit disappointed with The Poet's Wife which seems to be turning into a ground cover rose in my garden!

      @@nikkonch Ive only got one stake on BMS Nik in the centre. The stems are strong but the sheer number of flowers tilt them over slightly. Well worth buying imo. Certainly my best performer so far in 2024 with Emily Bronte 2nd. Sweet Honey & Brother Cadfael also doing very well. I have no idea why DA retired BC. Beautiful 🌹and very strong scent.

      Hi JayJay, glad to see you’re back. Ive been following your road trip and I kept saying to myself.. I hope JayJay can Sprekken die deutch or else he’d be buggered. Yes leornardo is proven winner in my garden a winner. Mine is 4 years old and planted in a very tall pot . It use to only get few hours a day. And now flourishing in the sunniest spot( all day). I’m in A process of compiling 15 most fragrant rose in My garden and some of the roses are very slow to bloom especially the ones I planted earlier this year. And by the time these blooms the ones that were blooming have finished their first cycle. Finally when we do get decent weather, our roses then decide it’s had enough. Timing has been almost impossible with the continuous change of weather🙅 I’m only two rose away from completion and will be uploading next couple of days. Ps. When will we get to see your visit to tantau and kordes?

      @Jay_Jay Před 29 dny

      @@kenvoong5977 yes the timing very difficult some of mine always take longer but this year they have taken an eternity. I’m still hoping no bud damage when they do open. Getting the roses all in flower together it’s impossible. But do you use iMovie? I find the detach function very handy and that will asssit you tie them together in flower whilst keeping your commentary going. Best of luck with it I will look forward to seeing your video.
