    Good to see you back in your garden, Ken, with all the promise of beautiful blooms for the Summer. I planted a Queen of Sweden, the lark ascending and Roald Dahl bare root David Austin roses in the Autumn, to add to my collection of mainly DA roses. Like you, I will looking forward to seeing my new acquisitions blossom!

      Hi Margret, it’s so nice to be back now the weather is starting to warm up. What great choices you have made. This year I’ve sort of turn my back away from da and have brought from other breeders.
      Like you I’m so looking forward to see how these fare against all my DA’s. Should be an exciting comparison.

    So lovely to see you Ken. Your humour is fantastic! The crushed snail made me laugh and so did the zombie wife comment. I'm really looking forward to your videos this year. I have 4 James galway rose. Its a fantastic rose. I never suffered any disease in year 1 and 2 but last year was awful. I think the weather caused it as it was awful. Good luck with the new roses

      Hi Dave , lovely to see your comment. As the weather is warming up it’s so nice to outside again. I know one person wouldn’t find it amusing. 4 James Galway!! You’re just as bad as I’m, fingers crossed mine will thrive like yours did.

    Hi Ken glad your posting enjoying catching up on your plans for this season ,, Ken regarding cutting not looking 100%. Ken had same problem I simply placed them in the shade where they won’t get too much rain fall think cuttting pot soil. Should be like a dishwasher cloth damp but rung out no total watering cutting yet wait till it’s a bit warmer so pot dry out faster Had good success this way. Ps loooking forward to seeing your new & old roses coming into blooom .

      Hi rosehardentour, thanks for the tips, I’ve been very successful in the past at taking cuttings. This year I took them out to inspect and pot up individually, they all had white roots, somehow they don’t like being disturbed and majority of them died ( perhaps being drowned after being repotted) lol… I like your example of a dish cloth and very true. I only do it for fun now and anything I get will just give them away. All we need is some decent hot weather perhaps we might get to see some early bloomers.

    welcome back Ken, it is good to see you. Should I prune my roses in spring? I haven't done any pruning in autumn.

    Yay welcome back Ken. Good to hear from you again. You know the best thing about your content is that you’re actually funny as hell but I’m unsure you realise it, which makes it even funnier.
    So your neighbours pots, are those pots on your land or his? Either way a genius way of planting more roses. When you run out of land ask the neighbours :) awesome!
    Great, great collection Ken look forward to seeing them all in bloom and your thoughts.

      And closing in on a thousand subscribers well done. I’ve no doubt you’ll overtake me soon enough and if so thoroughly deserved. Great stuff

      Jayjay!!! Always a pleasure to see your comments. I often see your name mentioned on my comments which really goes to show how popular you are. Gives me just as much joy taking the Micky out of my other half, not sure if it’s funny but sure does makes me laugh.
      Those pots belong to my neighbour and it’s on their land, the box of chocolate must have made a huge difference .

      And I couldn’t thank you enough Jay. Seeing the subscribers increase so quickly makes growing roses and making videos so much more enjoyable. I really need to switch on my turbo booster to catch up with your popularity. But honestly you definitely have influence me to turn my back on Da this year.

    Hi Ken. How wide is your rose border near the wall? How often do you water the roses near the wall?

    • @kenvoong5977
      @kenvoong5977  Před 6 měsíci

      Hi carmen, I would say it’s 3 feet wide perhaps a little more ( where all the climbers are). Those roses are all grown in the ground so don’t need much watering unless the weather is constantly hot. How often you water the roses depending on where you live, and in uk it always rain. Sorry carmen couldn’t really answer your question. On a hot sunny week I would water them everyday.

    Hi Ken, I remembered you mention in one of your video about the companion plant (white in colour) you planted with the roses which self seeded itself. Was it Viburnum? In Vancouver where I live, most Viburnum I saw in the nursery are much shorter and much bigger blooms. Can you tell me what kind of Viburnum that you have in your garden. Thank you!

    • @kenvoong5977
      @kenvoong5977  Před 5 měsíci

      Hi Stella, I don’t think it’s viburnum as these are extremely bushy and large, mine was viburnum Davadii. I did have one but got rid of it sometime ago. Could possibly be something else because I probably wouldn’t have mix my rose with viburnum as they would grow much taller and wider than my roses. I think you’re talking about verbenas, these are tall slender plants which produces blue flowers and self seed all over my garden.

    Welcome back Ken ! Your roses are looking fabulous, really looking forward to seeing them in full bloom. Hopefully won't be long now, the rain finally stopped so I am out during the day at the moment weeding, feeding & mulching I'm slowly getting round the garden, I seem to have loads of weeds this year - must be all the rain ! What great neighbours you have, I'm sure they'll appreciate all your efforts. Thank you for the tour and the giggle, your poor wife haha

      Hi Linda, your last video had so much vibe and energy( I was thinking to myself what is she on? It’s only February )😅 yes weeding isn’t a job I particularly like. I was so tempted to buy gishlian after you recommended last summer, seeing my sis already just bought hers, I’ll see how it performs. Yes I’m fortunate to have lovely neighbours either side. Bring on summer!!!!

    Kennnn good to have you back! I can see that you've been busy in your abscence. Roses are such an addiction aren't they? What lovely neighbours you have. I'm blessed with the ones I have too which makes all the difference as they can make or break a place. Looking forward to seeing your roses in bloom as I know that they're going to look stunning. You always bring a smile to my face with your sense of humour. Now go and feed your lovely wife!

    Welcome back to the new gardening season, Ken. You new additions are very good choice roses, several of which I already added last year and some more (bare root roses ) to arrive in next few days from Netherlands. Climbing roses Jasmina and Wollerton old Hall have performed v well for me last yr. Pacific blue is a lovely Tantau rose but opted for lavender colour Arctic blue rose (US floribunda ). Thanks for sharing such a beautiful garden tour video and your experience.

    • @kenvoong5977
      @kenvoong5977  Před 6 měsíci

      Hi Raj, it seems our choice of roses are very similar, I’m so glad hear jasmina and wollerton old hall does well. I’ve never been much of a tantau fan. Often a lot of other breeders aren’t easily available in uk, and da is widely available ( my only excuse to buy more da) 😝

    Hello Ken, thank you for the tour, im new to being a rose lover, only started last year. Like you i got so many DA roses. I listened very carefully about your comments about Summer Song, as i loved the colour, but you and others were not happy with it, and it interesting that you replaced it. I also have been getting roses from other breeders thanks to my viewing Jay Jay's utube, and it brought a smile to me when you said that space is a premium, Snap. I have bought some of the bare roses you have and i too am excited as to what summer will bring.
    Have not got the variety of feed though :)

    • @kenvoong5977
      @kenvoong5977  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Yes I had 2 summer songs and both never performed. Such a shame as the colour and scent is gorgeous. JayJay’s CZcams channel has definitely influenced me to buy other breeders other than Da, I should have done this long ago. I can now compare how these breeders compare to my other DA’s later in the year.

    I need to stick up for my sis-in-law…. Viewers don’t know his wife is 10 years his junior and has a business degree. Talk about punching above his weight! She must love him for his receding hair line 😂

      Good idea sis!!! NOT !! You’re far to busy making your money I’m afraid they’ll be neglectful and begging for water whenever you’re not home( like every week)😢
