    I think the quality of food is important for health, vegan or omnivorous, I work in garden for lots of all kinds of vegetables stored and preserved for winter, been eating small/moderate animal protein that's available only in small/moderate amount all bought from friends that raise animals for themselves, small/moderate means 1-5 times a week one meal a day with animal protein, this is how my great grandparents eat live up to 90 and still work the field because of the quality of food AND diet said earlier, this is how I eat for performance and health because this approach passed the test of time, it is my choice to eat this way and not take suplements of any kind and maybe not superior to other approaches😉, but it feels natural for me and been able to get 1 rep @ 90 kg on overhead press 😂

    It's interesting - I research nutrition for ten years as well, I'm very interested in the subject. I went through all the phases and tried everything and came to the conclusion that the more I know, the less I'm certain of one correct answer. There are nuances to this. When you say one very particular pattern of eating is the best for everyone, it's a bit of a red flag for me. If I had to bet my life on prescribing the best nutrition to most of the people, it would probably contain meat, beans, legumes, grains, vegetables and fruits - all in moderation. Some people probably benefit from being on one end of the extreme and some from being on another end. I'm not sure we can apply that to everyone and with such certainty. Great talk though, enjoyed it!

    let’s be real alphadestiny built most of his mass on omnivore diet until 2018 by then he was already an advanced lifter who hate 1g of protein per lbs for years. Of course maintaining muscle and building a little is not like building a lot of muscle.

    • @CarlYota
      @CarlYota Před 2 dny

      There’s plenty of examples of people who BUILT all thier muscle on plant based too. Just because the norm is for people to go vegan after they’ve built muscle doesn’t mean that you can’t build muscle without meat. The average poster child vegan isn’t interested in getting jacked so it’s also not fair to look at skinny vegans and blame thier diet for lack of muscle. I’ve gotten significantly more jacked since going plant based five years ago. And if it works to get an advanced lifter even bigger it will work to get a noob all his easy gains and an intermediate as well. The more muscle you build the harder it is to build more. So saying it works for experienced lifters actually supports the reverse conclusion you want to make.

Starting my bulk now and im glad to hear that alex is vegan now. Ive been a huge fan of him for a while as well as all the noble natties. To add onto the increased energy on a plant based diet - im not sure how true it is because i dont really remember how i felt before. But i have had many people ask me how i do so much. I get probably 15k steps a day working 10 hrs a day sometimes and still have energy to train hard asf to and beyond failure and throw some cardio on top if im feeling it. Im a healthy 25 yr old male. Protein powder was my only source of protein for like 2yrs straight. Then I found out tofu was not only cheaper than chicken but also had a complete amino acid profile and most importantly IT WAS JUST AS BIOAVAILABLE IF NOT MORE. I Eat Tofu after every workout now along with a scoop of protein in my shake. Tofu gets such bad rep over myths. Let’s do the math shall we ? We know a natural can gain about 2lbs of muscle per month maximum. That’s 990 grams. Assuming muscle was made out of pure protein( it’s not, it’s around 70% water) that would be about 33 grams of extra protein per day to support muscle gain. Something else to keep in mind is that if protein built muscle the average population would be jacked, considering they eat massive servings of protein with each meal. The reality is that hard, progressive training builds muscle, not protein consumption.

Meat is a fantastic way to get lots of micronutrients in a way that’s easily digestible for most. If you don’t want to eat meat you can eat a variety of plant foods and maintain health. Long Term im not sure how most people would go on low sugar and low salt. Everything works for a while, and eating a high carb diet means you’re getting enough sugar through the carbs. Many ways to do things. I don’t believe there is an absolute right or wrong. Just need to listen to your own body. I appreciated this Interview even though I have no plans of doing anything similar. I generally like Alex but he’s that kind of guy who is on to the next “greatest thing” every few months. If he feels great, then more power to him. But I think the science shows that there is not a straight line from high cholesterol, high fat, and high salt diets with poor markers of health. All of the same positive benefits that Alex talks about are also seen in people who do other diets, including carnivore. Nutrition is complex and we basically know very little about what the best diet should be (if one universal best diet even exists)

      Not sure what science you are reading. Literally every single reputable health organization recommends cutting back or eliminating meat consumption, and increasing fruit, vegetable, legumes and whole grains.

      He literally said he’s been researching and interest in plant based eating for nearly a decade. The science is very clear that plant based diet is the best for longevity and health. Those carnivore people are laughed at by the actual science based community. There’s no long term trials ever done and all the data points to a reduction of animal based products to increase in lifespan. Carnivore people might see temporary benefits due to cutting out processed crap and temporary ketosis. Will lead to tons of health issues long term.

      @Morgan Some nutrition scientists ive found convinving are Marion Nestle and Christopher Gardner. A lot of the hardline vegan doctors can be off-putting. There is a consensus from nutrition scientists that WFPB with minimal SOS is the healthiest diet from a purely nutritional standpoint for the vast majority of the population on a day to day basis. Food is very social and cultural so it can be hard to accept. If you want to hit it really hard and get as big as possible, meat snd dairy is definitely the wave though lol I also really like the "PlantChompers" CZcams page, that has good edutainment stuff

      @@ZyroSugar A lot of this so-called science is hugely flawed, this has been covered by low carb people for years like Tim Noakes, Nina Teicholz and Gary Taubes, while they weren't right about everything they have been improving a lot of people's lives. Perhaps they shouldn't be laughing as Nick Norwitz and Dave Feldman slowly and carefully publish papers that prove their positions correct? And Shawn Baker also potentially has studies he's associated with in the pipeline. If people live into their 90s eating sugar regularly and in large amounts I doubt eating meat is going to have a significant effect but you've bought the propaganda instead of the logic.

    My best friend went on an all-plant-based diet a few years ago. He was lifting hard 4 days a week, about an hour a session, and he got in the best shape of his life - big, strong, and ripped. He never counted his macros, but his protein sources were from seeds and nuts. His total protein intake was much lower than the 1 gram per pound of body weight you see being constantly recommended.

    I tried going vegan for about 6 months. Couldn't stand it anymore by the tail end. As far as not getting enough fiber when he was eating meat, that sounds like his diet was poorly planned. Even when I am eating sub 2k I get more than enough fiber to go everyday. Not trying to hate. Just because you eat meat does not mean you skip out on fruits, vegetables and other high fiber options.

      Many BBers now a days eat micronutrient deficient diets to chug down as much protein as possible, and their impressionable audiences follow in their steps, and eat unhealthy diets than make you feel like garbage. When I was a noob in the gym, i ditched the greens to chug down 150g of protein a day, and I felt awful. Now I eat around 100g of protein a day, I dont even count, just eat well balanced meals with micros and protein in each meal and I feel much better
