A different kind of shop cabinet
►GET THE PLANS:
www.diymontreal.com/product/swing-out-wall-cabinet-with-sliding-doors-pdf-build-plans/
I have been looking for a way to store more of my small power tools in the garage rather than in my basement, so I designed and built this unique storage cabinet. It has sliding doors and double depth storage: swing out shelves at the front, and adjustable shelves at the rear. This extra deep wall cabinet has been optimized to maximize storage. It's a different kind of shop cabinet… A shop storage cabinet like you’ve never seen before!

Back in the 1960's in Australia you could buy aluminium extrusion for sliding door tracks. I no longer see it in the 'home center' stores but it seems to still be available (or was) from places that supply the shopfitting trade. Just cut one rebate or dado then glue/screw the extrusion in place.

I LOVE your thin rip jig! It's the most consistent method I've seen! And beautiful in it's simplicity! Same "kudos" for your panel sled. I'm going to make one immediately! As far as wood being antibacterial, you started on the right track about the porosity, but it's not about the knife marks. To quote from the Internet, "At the heart of wood's antibacterial nature lies its unique cellular structure. Wood is composed of a network of fibers and vessels, which, in living trees, transport water and nutrients. When used in kitchenware, this structure creates a hostile environment for bacteria. The capillary action of the wood fibers draws in moisture, depriving bacteria of the wet environment they need to thrive. As the wood dries, the bacteria trapped within the fibers are deprived of water and nutrients, leading to their eventual death."

Great solution! This is the type of creative cabinet content access I'm looking for in my leather studio! But for any wood on wood sliding, I recommend some wax or "slick it" in the slide tracks & door edges to prevent binding.

Awesome project and I love the clever design to make practical use of the deep cabinets space! In the UK we use a lot of Euro style hinges and we can get ones that are called overlay hinges so it may be that these could be an option to get the full opening of the pull out sections to get over the sliding doors if they’re available where you are?

Great build Marie, i nearly died of shock when i saw how much a sheet of Plywood costs in Canada and i couldn't tell how many you bought, if you have to buy Plywood every week you would need a bank loan just to get a few. As i mentioned at the start another great build, but i did notice the non straight wall when you first showed the nook i think you called it, it's the same in my house you should see our kitchen 😂 Anyway take care. Upgrading from a diode laser to a CO2 desktop laser can be a game-changer for anyone serious about laser engraving. While entry-level diode lasers are great for beginners, they often fall short in terms of power and versatility. CO2 lasers, like those offered by Monport, provide significantly more power, allowing for faster and more precise cuts on a wider range of materials. This upgrade not only improves efficiency but also opens up new possibilities for your projects. Monport lasers are known for their reliability and performance, making them an excellent choice for anyone looking to elevate their laser engraving capabilities. Plus, with a good ventilation setup and tools like the xTool smoke purifier, you can maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Truth is brass isn’t the only luxury of the build. To afford the 400 buck or whatever the term is up there for plywood alone for a decent size upper cabinet is kinda string. No hate. Great build. Awesome design. You do you really. Love to see what you make. Ty.

Great tutorial, I’m excited to try this technique out. For the dent in your cutting board, depending on how deep, you can sometimes steam them out by placing a damp cloth over the dent and ironing it. Of course you will have sand it and refinish again. Found some success with it!
