Sometimes the problem is your immediate leadership. Your boss' primary job is to advocate for you and some are far better than others at that responsibility. Others are too preoccupied with pushing their own agendas which will pull their highly capable employees a million different directions. As a high performer it's important to remember that your hard work won't get you anywhere if nobody else knows you're doing it. I've had people I've trained get promoted for work I taught them how to do and the difference was supportive leadership and visibility. There's nothing more detrimental to your career progression than a politically dimwitted boss.

Reason 2 is not true. If you do your boss's job more, your boss just comes to work less and has less reason to let you go. Positioning yourself in different areas of expertise or participating in other objects just gets you more work as your boss farms you out. This makes your boss look better and virtually guarantees your won't get promoted because all of your boss's peers and your boss's boss recognize you more so you get given more responsibility, no extra pay, etc. Literally none of this will get you promoted. It will make you TBP - Too valuable to Production. Management/leadership positions are for friends of the management. That's it. If you're useful, it is more important to have you actually doing work because you're replacing multiple people and then they get to keep those salaries they would otherwise be spending. If you want management positions, you need to buy some knee pads and learn to open your throat.

The moment a CEO says that we [the company] is on a journey and we want to get to the next level 👎 … I am off. As much as I concede to the idea of simple language (this is easy and straightforward), it should never be simplistic. Even „leaders“ getting paid millions often do not know the difference (when they are on their journey) 😂 …. nice video, Kara 😊

That's all great and doing all that work needs the reward, so if the promotion comes with a massive amount of responsibility, stress, less family time, less actual work content hands on that you enjoy but only a small compensation and salary raise then its not worth your time.

it doesnt work with authoritarian Managers and diversity managers... my advise if you find yourself under an authoritarian/Diversity manager... run ! and run fast...

In some case, I felt that the female leader are more sensitive than man.

This is text book stuff. I am sorry to say. This may have worked in the corporate world 35 years ago. However, it is not applicable today. Teachings have not changed because the information sounds good and promotes hope. This stuff will get you nowhere today. Most of its not even possible.

Listen more. And when you speak, make sure to leave an impact.

Document everything. Keep a daily journal of your encounters with the problematic person and if you decide to go to someone else document their reaction as well as their continued treatment of you after you talked to them. Option #6 isn’t YOUR choice if someone is running you out of a job, depending on your circumstances it might be the best choice but by no means is it YOUR choice unless you want to leave your job anyway. I work in a machine shop and I was told when I started working there that my area is primarily men, which could lead to “uncomfortable” situations especially in the summer when it’s hot. I decided it wasn’t an issue because I would be respected, which is truly how it is.

I think your tips are good but funny enough you can be more concise in how you explain them. You often repeat the same info too but in different words.

I’ve tried these steps. A jealous person will always be jealous unless they do inner work. Except reporting to HR.
