    What hosel setting and weight position do you play your TSR3 at? How does the swingweight come out high D3 when you seem to have the stock weight in the head

      I have it in C4 hosel setting and neutral weight position. The Synyster 65 shaft is quite tip balanced and I have half a swingweight point of lead tape on the toe end of the head.

    I am playing AMT Black stiff shafts which vary in weight throughout my set of Titleist t200 irons. These shafts start at 95 grams in my 4-iron and progress to 116 grams in my pitching wedge. I have 125 gram shafts in my gap wedges and sand wedge. What you’ve demonstrated to me in this video has me concerned about my set up. I have been fit for irons, twice in my lifetime and neither fitter brought up the issue of shaft weight. Shaft flex was the be all end all. I’ve been playing golf for 50+ years and learn something new every year!

    • @Precision_Golf
      @Precision_Golf Před dnem

      It is something that has become understood much more in recent years and how weight impacts delivery much more than flex (when isolated for performance). We continue to learn but 95g to 125g in your irons is a heck of a lot of weight difference to deal with for sure!

      @@Precision_Golf thanks for your reply. I have very little faith in the local club fitters. I have been to several demo days where each of the big golf companies have a representative club fitter/salesman and none of them discuss shaft weight impacting results. I have TSR3 driver and TSR2 fairway. Love them so was interested for this and maybe the profile of the new fairway is more appealing but the GT3 driver comparison you did you mention the ball speed is up and it “delivers” but your club speed was more and smash factor was down. What am i missing? Love the reviews but ill stick with the TSR range for now as cant remortgage yet until interest rates come down further for me to afford the GT.

    • @Precision_Golf
      @Precision_Golf Před dnem

      The GT3 delivers in an all round sense of still being good ball speed but helping off centre strikes and spin stability, however it must be noted this is from the TSR being a very strong base product so it is small gains on the driver

    Titleist drivers have been good now since the TSi series, great to see the fairways catch up. Well done Titleist. Nice work Simon on an expert illustration as to the differences. One question; if a TSI 7 wood is a little too high and spinny while the 5 wood is the reverse, how do you decide whether to loft down a 7 wood or loft up a 5 wood ? Thanks

    • @Precision_Golf
      @Precision_Golf Před 2 dny

    • @kevinvassago
      @kevinvassago Před dnem

      I agree with your sentiment about the drivers, the TSR is an incredible driver, and I'm sure the GT will be as well. But I think (as of right now) the TS fairway woods are probably the best titleist has ever made. I'm always on the hunt for a great 3 Wood and have tried the TSi, which actually lost distance compared to the TS, and the TSR 3 Wood, which almost had the same total distance, but more roll. Also, those shots that did have a few extra yards in distance were strictly from the rollout, which is not something I want if I'm trying to hit the green. Maybe the GT 3 Wood will be better, but I doubt it.

    Excellent comparison video Simon, I have a 17 degree Darkspeed and its definitely a missile launcher (especially off the tee) and it has become my favourite club in the bag, I also have a 21 degree King Tec which I alternate with my 3 iron on tour length golf courses where longer approach shots into par 5s are required, both Cobra hybrid models are fantastic clubs though.

    What I'm finding with driver releases is that we're expected to pay more and more for less information. How much weight has been saved on the crown? How has that affected MOI, is it less or greater, if there's a speed ring on the face, how much have mis-hits been improved. This driver is inching towards £600 before upcharges and yet the improvements are rarely presented in a quantifiable way.

    • @paulmcgee1867

      Woods are very expensive too

    • @Precision_Golf
      @Precision_Golf Před 2 dny

      The stated details we have to work with is 3 times lighter for the driver so approximately 66% saving and 5 times on the fairway so 80% lighter. Granted they have not released what gram weight that is yet but we will try to get the answer for you. The split mass in the driver increases MOI (again no exact figure but Titleist generally do not state this figure for any launch). The prices on woods I agree are high, in this instance we are told they created a completely new material to facilitate the weight redistribution and this does make cost higher but it is at a point which is at the top of the price window

      @Precision_Golf Před 9 dny

      You do get some high launch/spin players at moderate speeds who the Darkspeed really suits but the 2H in Darkspeed fires play very well for the high speed player as it is also pretty forgiving too. If you are a lower spin player the Tec will suit better

    great video. if you change the loft of the Driver shaft how does this affect a pured shaft, my original driver shaft was pured (ping tip) for two clicks down to 7.5 degrees, but if I am moving it back to 9 Degree standard loft setting how does this effect the shaft? would this increase dispersion? is it worth getting the ping tip reset to match the pure setting at 9 degrees?

    • @Precision_Golf
      @Precision_Golf Před 9 dny

      It will take it out of the SST Pured position so certainly best to have it reset into the resultant hosel position

    Would you ever consider replacing the 3 wood slot for a 2 iron for a very high speed player? Never need anything close to 3 wood into greens. Also know from scott fawcett and other stat gurus that a 3 wood isn't that much more safe of the tee than driver, and isn't worth the distance drop off. So my idea is that if it's too tight for driver, then best to drop all the way to an iron for dispersion. I know mini-drivers are a trend now for this kind of thing, but that's mostly if you want to set it up for a draw when the driver is set up for a fade. I never really want to see a lot of shape at all though.

    • @Precision_Golf
      @Precision_Golf Před 9 dny

      If you don’t want to see shape then that is down to good swing mechanics but at very high speeds a 3w can become fairly useless in the bag compared to a driving iron for reliability with the lower flight and shorter shaft for certain. For most people a 3w is more reliable for strike due to the shorter shaft and is less reliant on technique (creating a shallower angle if attack) but also creates strategy for distance options off the tee dependant on hole length and hazard positions too so is important for a lot of players in that respect

    Curious when fitting that area of the bag you said about 5° loft between driver and 3 wood. What is a good loft distance between 3 wood and the next club? Or do you go off of distance alone? Is it the same for the following club after that?

    • @Precision_Golf
      @Precision_Golf Před 9 dny

      It is generally 3 or 4 degrees for distance gaps below the first fairway wood. The 5 degree gap is something I have noticed over the years for getting good launch and spin and have found it tracks this pretty accurately between Driver and first fairway. Below that it depends n head style and a players delivery as well as what job the club is for so a few more things that go into the mix but roughly 3-4 degree gaps tend to be the case from what I have seen

    Thanks, good explanation. I have been swapping a 3HL Paradym at 42.75 length alternating frequently with a 2H. 16° on the hybrid, which has a Hzrdus black 6.0 shaft 2” shorter at 40.75. I hit the ball high, handicap is 16, age 57 and it’s winter in Melbourne AU. Question related to your ending on this video, is it realistic that I can actually hit the hybrid as long, or even longer and have a tighter dispersion? Evidence says yes, but go looking for a new 2 hybrid and the tide is against you.

    • @Precision_Golf
      @Precision_Golf Před 11 dny

      It might well suit you better and spin better therefore giving you better distance , but there are very few 2H heads out there just due to little demand as most players cannot launch them at that loft!
