My V-Bar settings- raw 500 and Kraken 580N
IM not much of a video maker, nor radio expert, nor helicopter tuner LOL but this is what im running right now. I do plan to experiment more with the new interesting settings in the V bar system

Sab Kraken 580 nitro maiden flight

SAB Kraken 580 Nitro with torq servos, regulated os55hzr and Vbar EVO. Dead on with the setup, but I broke the end off one of the EVO antennas during setup, so I have to replace that but it flys wonderful. I had to keep it short today my hands are shaking pretty bad. hopefully better tomorrow

I haven't been flying lately, but I got a few out to cycle some batteries. its hot!! Helicopter is all spectrum with an align motor till I run across an X-Nova, head speed is bank 1=too low, bank 2= still not enough, bank 3 not too bad. LOL

This is a bone stock Trex 550e with 610 servo's and a 100 amp esc and is flying a 3gx flight controller. not messing around much, just making sure the blades are tracked and pitch is proper.

Wanted to build an all Spektrum Heli. Boy that was expensive but turned out nice. Still need to get an Xnova motor for it. Running Spektrum 6250 with bone stock settings, dug up an align 510kv motor for it. Avian 120 ESC. Spektrum Servos.

that wound up messing up a little more than I would have expected but we got her back in the air! I tell ya after flying ESC Governors for a while, I LOVE the V bar internal governor !

What can I say, this is the heli I do all my transitioning from a simulator to the real world with. Some people see what I do, I see what I don't...inverted funnels and hurricanes, pyro's, tight tick tocks....so much to learn!!! One day at a time but you gotta fly!!

I flipped it over in normal mode and still had a soft negative curve in there from setup! switched to idle 1 and solved that issue. running Governor high on the castle Phoenix Ice 2HV. Motor is getting really really hot tho...

Here is the new 800 build. I went all stock but the FC which is Spektrum 6250. Looking to go with x nova and HW 200, then switch back to V bar. or sit it on the shelf and fly it once in a while LOL!

Have you setup your tail mechanically with correct preload, using rate mode instead of head lock?
Can you please do a video on your hat setup for filming in flight, there's zero videos about it and I'm trying to work out a good way to film my flights from the pilot perspective. Thanks for the videos!
I use a go pro 11 on a head mount that I bought off amazon in a kit with all kinds of mounts. I will take a shot of it in next video. Thanks!

I hadn't used it in a while so I did the update and noticed it in the update notes. Not sure why yours wouldn't be working, but im still getting the hang of it myself. I just stumble through the menus!

My goodness, what a maiden flight!! I love your smooth transitions to inverted! I am having a lot of training in front of me to geat such a great control. But thats what I love the most!! So I have never ending reasons to fly!!

What’s your favorite sized sab raw? I can’t decide on a size. It’s been a few years for me, but I dusted off my trex 450 pro the other day. Ultimately I would like a 580 raw but curious if I should go with 420 or 500 as a stepping stone. Your videos have amazing picture quality!
hey thanks! I use a GoPro 11. I really like the 420 on a Spektrum 6250fc. thats my favorite setup. low stress flying and cheaper to fix, but flys like a larger heli. when I "bring it out of the simulator" I always use my raw 420. its what I try new things with. its also so quick to grab and go with the battery system. thanks again!

I think thats 1750 on bank one, 1950, and 2200. not positive but thats what I remember setting it up on V-bar. sorry so late, I been out a few days.

Hey buddy if you have any tail issues or with belt coming off, switch the tensioner to the otherside. There is a manual update out that actually shows it on the otherside. Also a video by greg jackson explaining this. If you already know this, please diregard. Thanks for the videos.

you can't go wrong, its the most versatile platform. I think the biggest question is raw or Kraken. if I had to work on it a lot or crashed more often, I would go Raw 580. the other question is 6 or 12s. I went with 12. there's something about a full bodied heli... Thanks for watching!

haha! ya 1st off I forgot to switch up to higher headpeed before I started horsing around, second I poorly executed an inverted wall of death and dumped full negative pitch with full rear elevator. The X-Nova had the torque to overcome the load, so then the blade rotates in its bladeholder due to low head speed and strikes the boom. and yes I haven't have one either since probably a concept 30! not very common with the headspeeds we run nowadays. I'll remember from now on LOL. Thanks for watching!

what do you run for PID's on the 6250?
I'll dig that up for you later, but I can say it came right off a 450l dfc. I didn't change anything and the tail was mushy but more concerned on the 750mx motor heat. Im going to re-motor this and then tune on it some and see what we come up with. thanks!

Do you have any kind of fail safe when you get out of control? I haven't flown Helis in forever (Logo 600) and I believe the "save you butt" mode was just starting to come out. LOL
Thanks for the comment, No, I don't run a failsafe or bailout. Im one of those pilots that never seem to remember to flip that switch. I tend to freeze at the sticks if all hell breaks loose.Not to say I wouldn't recommend it, but you have to remember to hit that switch!

about 35 years , late 80's course you didn't get the stick time in for parts availability and there were no sims. I would say it's easier to learn on electric but only because its easier maintenance so you get more stick time in. it's all about stick time! Thanks for the compliment! and good luck!
@@mykel1969 Thanks for the reply. I am thinking of getting an Electric setup so am also researching what would be a good controller and servo option but to be honest it's been years since i've been on the RC scene. It's a high risk situation to be a beginner in my 50's!
@@MoreLaterDude the good news for you is the there are many options in RTF that include stability, bailout, and even GPS lock. I would look into those types of rigs to start out. Thanks! Mike

While I have flown for decades, the secret to my confidence in close up hovering was spending an entire winter flying a Blade 180 qx drone in my garage right in front of me doing rudder piroets left for one min, then right. (set my radio to beep every min) .Very slow. I also used that small drone to learn to fly backwards. which was way harder than I expected at the time!! ya a lot of this is so repetitive but when I don't film,... I crash. it's the weirdest thing lately! so im just filming all my flights and hate storing them so I use CZcams for free cloud storage! im gonna be switching to a Kraken 580 soon to break the monotony!

These 420s seem to fly pretty good like on rails ! I want to build a kit . But I don’t know if I want to do a rs4 or a 420 ?
I think either is a great choice. I would go with the 420 competition, but that's just cause there's great parts availability. I assume the rs4 is as well. I think the weight of the DD Raw 420 is an advantage to all except hard 3d flyers. yes it flys like its on rails, very stable and very predictable. punches through the wind well too. Not sure if they are discontinuing the Direct Drive or not. Thanks for the comment and good luck!!

no, I only have two FC's right now so still running a lot of spektrum 6250's. I have a Kraken 580 nitro and raw 500 that have v bar at the moment.

Its pretty awesome! It feels so docile. Thats the first 800 I've ever flown. If you look at the disk its intimidating, but if you focus on the body instead its more normal. Thank you!
@@mykel1969 I felt the same way the first time I flew my raptor 30 for the first time. It was the biggest heli I had flown. Compared to the Trex 450. Can't wait to see more. Hopefully you figure out those head speed issues

@@mykel1969 I started flying in maybe 2007-2008. Took a 11-12 year break though. Just getting back into it. That raptor is what brought me back. Found a killer deal one and got back into it
Do you know what caused it? How many degrees of pitch are you flying?
13. but it was an overcompensation collectively on my part coming out of an inverted wall of death. It was caused mostly from flying like that on such a low rotor head speed. I forgot to click up to bank 2 before I started thrashing on it.
Was going to say at 120 is probably fine for a 14s. But I can't say anything because I just bought a 60 amp for my T-Rex 450. The last ESC was 35 amp and caught fire so overkill is better
ya, considering im just going to poke around with it, im going to try out the 120. it is funny that nowadays a 120 is in a 500. but I figure batteries have come that far in the last 10-15 years.
@@mykel1969 for real. But the capabilities on the new stuff is amazing. Everything is a wallet breaker though. I want to build a nice 700 eventually, but either the Tron, XL, or sab all cost north of 2500 for everything I'd need. Maybe I'll get the tb70
