Thank you so much for this videos in 25% of the way through and considering dnfing the book bc Iâm not enjoying it. I have ultimately decided to dnf after everything youâve said you donât like about it.
At first I heard "I hauled 1159 books" and I was like GIIRL! You can start a whole library system and I'll come to London to be your first patron đđ Listen some of the books you hauled were manga series!!! This makes the number seem not as daunting đđ
I need to get to Stone Blind, it's been on my tbr forever
đđ
Would love to read Maria Motunrayo Adebisi's books. đ
Instagram made me but this book. It has been overhyped. Honestly I didnât shed a single tear. Yes it was a traumatic experience bla bla bla this that⊠but it was kinda lengthy to sum up. I got bored in the middle lol or maybe im not just a book crying person?idkk prolly just me ⊠but yea too much hyped over the Internet..not worth the hype honestly though
Finally somebody gives a real review!!! Iâve read a little life as a school assignment and my teacher asked me if Iâm okay with it be being sad and everything , she also told me that itâs one of her favorite books. I told her that itâs fine and that I was prepared , but when I finished the book I was really confused. How can this book be somebodyâs favorite ? You start the book and from the beginning it tells about Judeâs mental problems and throughout the book it just keeps going . I just didnât have a moment to connect, because the whole book was about Jude harming himself or either somebody harming him. Yes there are a couple scenes where heâs interacting with people and we can see him as a person , but they were just so rare and many of them felt like something I donât need. Youâre totally right itâs too long , many scenes could have been cut out, the book itself is exaggerated , Judeâs character is over fixated on his disability, William is unlikable , JB is annoying. Back to the teacher . After I finished the assignment my opinion about her went down. P.S. writing this in the middle of the video so that I donât forget what I wanted to say. If I got something wrong. Sorry.
So glad that I found your channel, as a newbie to Booktube I am loving finding new people on here and you are one of them!
Aww that's so nice that your friend wants to wait to read that final book with you!
Loved this video! This year I've been doing things totally different; I request less review copies (because deadlines make me nervous), I always have a non-fiction alongside a fiction book, because I mostly read my non-fiction in tiny chunks so they take more time and I'm making an effort to pick up some of my bigger books and remind myself that it's okay to take my time with them. I also allow myself now to read during the day instead of waiting til the evening, I reward myself with reading a chapter after ticking off something from my to do list because that motivates me to get things done.
đđ
I love the unserious theme :- ) Oh it's only your second year reading Sierra Simone, by this point it feels like she's been around on your channel for years haha :- D
One minute in and "I have limits, and the limit is good writing" made me cackle đ Always enjoy your unhauls and this was no exception!
Life's too short and tbr's are too big for continuing to read books with bad writing đ
Friends getting you gifts anyway is a mood đđ I should read Godkiller đ€đ€ Delilah Green Doesn't Care is giving Hallmark đđ Not the unpopular Divergent series opinion. No flood warnings?? :o I just got one literally yesterday because the river here flooded đđ
We love clearing up some shelf space!!!
When I saw you tagged me in this, I was like................. is this the moment? Are we breaking up??? đ€Ł
I agree! I think thereâs a difference between a cheesy beach romance book and just bad writing
Loving the sass in this video! The last book I struggled through was bad vibrations by Lucy leitner. Fortunately it was v short! đ
Couldn't agree more! Thank you for this spot on review and your honest rage †In one Interview Hanya says that she has never been to therapy and I think it shows. The message I got from this book was: 'Some people are just so broken that it is better to give up on them, because nothing will ever help them.' Thanks for nothing Hanya really...
"the limit is good writing" hahaha :- D I usually don't mind not that great writing if there are other things that make it worth it, I mostly mind when it's so bad it actually takes me out of the story and becomes distracting.
Shaming me with all of your DNFs! I've unhauled some books this year but I really need to get rid of more because my shelves are overflowing pretty badly đ đ©”đ©”
đđđ
'Dial A for Aunties' was really disappointing, probably more so because I adored 'Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers' so much and it really suffers in comparison. I'm glad that I read them in that order though, or I might never have picked up 'Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers' and that was a 5/5 for me.
You are doing so well.. I tried prodigal summer by Barbara kimgsolver but I really canât do lit fic..
I have to have good writing in my romances as well, SOMETIMES I can let it slide but most of the time I can be pretty picky đ glad itâs not just me. Also a fan of Sierra Simone
I have lower standard for romances. Bailey's books have some hilariously gross dialogue. I liked love her or lose her. It's about a dysfunctional couple who has to either work on their marriage or let it go. I will warn that the male character had a nasty overprotective streak that i found a but off-putting. I allowed it as part of something that he needed to work on but i found it easy to dismiss as i liked so much of the book otherwise. Its not atypical romance it hits heavy but I liked that. As for a book that was a let down I would say "witches steeped in gold" by chiannon smart? I had it on my shelf forever I had hoped for a story about powerful women. What I got was a story of women using power to cut each other down so one could rise. I just don't need that kind of energy. I didn't dnf but I did unhaul that one quick.

Oh Poyums sounds so interesting, definitely need to find the audiobook for that! I really enjoyed reading Scots poetry in Deep Wheel Orcadia (which is a very different genre đ ) so been wanting to dabble more.
Ooh yes, very different genre, but I do hope you enjoy reading more Scots poetry đ„
It's always the best when you find an author you love so much and they have a huge back catalog you can dive into. My favorite read so far this year is The Warm Hands of Ghosts, and I'm most looking forward to The Lotus Empire (final book in the Burning Kingdoms trilogy). Hope the books you're looking forward to end up being as good as they sound!
Yes!! I have just finished reading the brown sisters trilogy by Talia Hibbert as well, so I think once I'm done with reading through Sierra Simone's backlist I might dive into hers next. The Warm Hands of Ghosts sounds like it is was beautifully written and I did get the bear and the nightingale recently so I really want to try her writing as well! đ
Really enjoyed all of your answers and glad you're having a joyful reading year! I must try T J Klune, I have two of his books but just haven't tried them yet!
Ooh please do! They feel like a warm hug in book form đ€
I really really need to read Ravensong.
Yes!! I can't wait to hear your thoughts đ€
You've had a great 6 months of reading đ
It's been good so far ^.^
I feel you girl. lol
We can be proud of our few pages, they all add up đ
This was so fun! The concept of having zero books on your TBR is just utterly alien, cannot even comprehend đ
Hahaha me either đ
I enjoy T J Klune books . I have Mr Loverman on my TBR and am looking forward to reading this one .
His books are always so good and so wholesome! I hope you'll like Mr Loverman too đ
@OliviasCatastrophe I do think I picked it up after seeing you talk about it . I had heard of it but did not pick it up, so thank you for the recommendation.
Love seeing Green Creek on your list!! I cannot wait for you to read Heartsong! We love Gordo! You are so right describing him as Ronan and Adam combined!
The series really came into my life just when I needed a found family hug đ€
No way she says RANT like that omg girl
Hahaha can't help the accent đ
Out of a total of 28 books, I've rated eight of them 5/5. 'Momo' by Michael Ende, 'Vera Wongâs Unsolicited Advice for Murderers' by Jesse Q. Sutanto, 'Dragonflight' by Anne McCaffrey (re-read), 'The Library' by Bella Osborne, 'Children of Time' by Adrian Tchaikovsky, 'Welcome to the Hyunam-dong Bookshop' by Hwang Bo-Reum, 'The Girl Who Drank the Moon' by Kelly Barnhill, and 'Ocean's Godori' by Elaine U. Cho. My personal absolute favourite so far is definitely Ocean's Godori, but I'm sharing all of them because they all deserve all the love.
I love that you have had so many five stars this year already! I really want to read children of time and Vera Wong's unsolicited advice. Both of them are waiting for me on my shelf as well đ
Tokyo Ghoul I know that's right đđ I always forget you like Tsukiyama more than me, but I learned to really like him during :re!!! I'm stealing the term "magnetic" when talking about addictive writing styles. I love that you felt so seen in Not So Pure and Simple! Sierra Simone loves her "i can't be with her" type men đđ not you disliking a Sierra Simone book??? "You're not Bella Swan" girl đđ
Yes!! I know Tsukiyama is more of an antagonist here but as soon as we met him I was like, 'I can fix him.' đ <3<3 Ikr, disliking a Sierra Simone book, what kind of fan am I??
as a disabled person who struggles with daily suicidal thoughts thank you for your passion in defending us, especially in the end of the video. i was really moved, thanks for sticking up for us so eloquently. â€
I'm sorry you're struggling and I hope you're able to get the help and support you need <3 And of course, the least I can do x

One of my favourites of the year has to be Keedie by Elle McNicoll - books don't make me cry at all, but that last sentence had me tearing up!
Ooh that shows just how good it must have been!! Iâm so glad you loved it because I know how excited you were for it đ
@@OliviasCatastrophe Elle never lets me down lol!
I felt mid about Girl, Woman, Other too, so maybe I should try Mr. Loverman! omg yay, I'm so glad you enjoyed Dorian Gray đ
Yess Dorian Gray was amazing and I need to read more Wilde! Otherwise I have read all his fairytales but I want to read his plays next.
Iâm trying to decide if I should start wolf song and then get raven song or wait till I own the series⊠I have my version of this up tomorrow. Brotherless night is my favourite đ
I say start with wolfsong anyway! All three books are out and the fourth one will be out in August. I need to read brotherless night!
