Scag - Is this thing any good?!?
Review of the 2019 Scag Tiger Cat II
I am not a landscape professional. I am not sponsored by Scag. I am just someone who enjoys owning good equipment.
In this review, I talk about troubles with oil filter access and knees hitting the lap bar when raising the deck.

Scag Tiger Cat 2 What you see me mowing here is a little over a 3rd of my lawn. I've got a little over 13 hours on the TC now and its been running pretty good. There are a few things that I'm a worried about but I'll cover that in another video. Remember guys, I'm not a professional. I'm just a homeowner that enjoys mowing. Thanks for watching! 2019 Scag Tiger Cat 2 Startup

My last video I did a walk around of my new 2019 Scag Tiger Cat 2. In this video I do a startup and quick demo. There’s not much to mow (other than leaves) at this point but, at least you can hear the engine. So far, for me it has plenty of power and has been running great. As soon as we get some grass to mow I’ll do another video. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the review. Very nice tough mower. I have a high velocity deck 52, but I have a Briggs & Stratton 28 EFI. It’s the same as yours, very dependable, durable & and extremely high quality cut. At times I use the mulched plate, & it cuts the grass very small. The Kawasaki must be a great engine, when I purchased mine they only had the 28 EFI inn stock.

I have it , use it 6 days a week in my lawn business for the last 2 5 years , the fuel injected engine is awesome the mower smashes big lawns. That is a fully commercial mower the air cleaner is deferent but really about same as canister type with the rain cap and I like it better over time I had problems breaking the big canister on my old scag. Actually really like the vertical air filter on this mashine. Just l grab the bar behind the seat and lift the seat up to get the oil filter easy ,you put filter on by hand until it's snug then only half a turn tighter . Then it comes of easy by hand .Don't forget to grease the spindles once in a while . The fuel injection smokes a carburetor any day all day. If you understand how fuel injection works ,it is all ways adding or subtracting small amounts of fuel trying to maintain the best fuel air ratio. Basically if you hit a thick patch of grass it will add more fuel to try and keep the motor running smooth or the same rims as it was before the thick spot ,it's like more power to me

    1. Lubricate the track the rounds slide down and the ball that holds holds them in. 2. Hold the loader vertical. The rounds will slide into the magazine with no shaking or pumping.

Possibly the only SCAG thats worth anything. The Patriot, and all the lower models are complete junk. Dont waste your $$$$, way over priced. Nearly all zero turns are complete junk compared to a real tractor, and will start falling apart after about 3 years. No way in hell any of these will still be running in 40 years. Buy a zero turn if you like working on them, "invest", in a tractor, if you want to get your work done.

I have a 2011 Freedom Z with 19 hp kawasaki I use to mow my 2.5 acres. Paid $4600 for it and I just hit 12 years old and 500 hours. Never done anything but oil changes, hydro oil change, air filters. The governor seal on the kawa started seeping a little oil and I had to replace that, which was easy. I plan on getting another 500 hours out of it over the next 12 years. I think for commercial work it wouldn't hold up, but that's why they make a turf tiger.

I would then stack the branches into piles, tie them together with a tow-rope, and connect the other end to the back of the mower. It had POWER-TO-SPARE in hauling the large piles of branches, and it didn't even break a sweat! All in all, a very nice piece of equipment...I will get a ton of use out of it!*

The issue regarding your legs hitting the lap bars. I had the same problem 6' 3'" The lap bar unbolts . You can drill two more holes just 1 inch makes the biggest difference and then re-bolt them back on . Measure the distance between the two holes and drill it on the lap bar itself on the silver part it works great. Some of the older Scags used to have the holes in it already to move the lap bars upper down for taller people
