I had a stroke at 30 and had to move back in with my parents and couldn’t work for several months. I had to move states and leave my friends and everything I had worked for. At 31, I moved back to the state where I had lived before, but a different area, returned to working full time after working part time for months, fully moved out on my own without roommates at 33 for the very first time in my life. I thought none of this would be possible. I entered my first relationship ever this January at the age of 35 to one of my friends since 2005. We were each other’s first kiss and he’s 31. Now, we’re married and life is great. We’re living in a camper, which is something I haven’t done since I was in my 20s. I quit my job to help him build his side business, hoping and praying to make it a full time thing for us. I also totaled my car 2 weeks before the wedding and we’re down to his truck. There’s never an age, I feel, to start a new chapter or completely start over and that’s good and bad. My timeline is God’s and not other people’s. Life is unpredictable and things happen. I have learned to roll with it.

Sis I got laid off twice in 2 1/2 years..the first job I was at for 11 1/3 years and the literally outsourced our whole department I got 6 months of severance pay and once that shit deposited I waited 45 days and applied for unemployment and got!! 😂🤣😂 I immediately started working my gig apps!!! I cried and as super upset/sad. I found another job in 3 months with a better salary. After working that job for a year plus I got laid off again!!!! 😵‍💫😵‍💫😩 they gave me 2 months severance and I immediately hit my gig apps!! I found a new job 4 months….it all worked out but I’ll tell you I’m too old to go thru this shit again!! I know work for the state and imma sit my ass here until retirement or I hit the lottery 🤣😂🤣

I hope you consider mentorship for other PMs 🤍 as someone who is self taught without a degree and having started working at 18, I often feel lost in my journey in product. I wonder if it’s the same kind of lost you feel now having left your job. It’s both magical and wonderful and lonely and isolating.
